Dear Sir/Madam:

I’m addressing this letter to you as the representative of a large group of candidates to the
public educational sector in Galicia (Spain), who has been called to take part in the public
examinations to access civil service on the 20 th of June of 2020.

Due to the current situation of confinement, we have found ourselves facing countless
unexpected situations that are restricting our capacity of studying as well as our concentration.
Besides, we are really concerned about our health safety in such a process like the public
examinations taking into account the context of the global pandemic we are dealing with these
days.

Concretely, more than 2000 vacancies of about 96 different teaching specialties have been
announced; being this the bigger Public Employment Offer in our region until now. Last year,
almost 20.000 people registered for this process. This year, it is estimated that the total
amount of candidates will exceed significantly that number mainly for two reasons: firstly,
because the number of vacancies this year is superior to those announced last year and
secondly, because of the pull effect as Galicia is the only region in the whole country which is
maintaining this public examinations causing that people from other regions of Spain will come
to take these exams here.

From our platform OPOñomeaestaOPO, we feel helpless given the refusal of the Autonomous
Government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia) to postpone this summons. We are asking to
organizations like this, the World Health Organization, to submit their opinion in relation to
this issue to the Xunta de Galicia and, in addition, to inform us, thousands of candidates that
nowadays are submitted to a situation of uncertainty, about the health safety of such a
process.

We have collected almost 9.000 signatures in the following online platform:
