Description:

ICI's primary role is to make state-of-the-art numerical tools for massively parallel computing more accessible
and to develop innovative computing strategies integrating data and physical models for real-time simulation,
addressing different applicative fields: manufacturing simulation, renewable energies, urban environment
simulation and biophysical/biomechanical simulation.

Contexte du projet

as part of the EOS project which is intended to adapt peak numerical tools developed at the
High Performance Computing Institute (ICI) in the context of floating wind energy, in order to
make high precision numerical techniques affordable for huge wind turbine simulations. For this
purpose the software library used is ICI-tech which is developed ICI.

TASKS:
 Understanding the numerical formulation of FSI solver ICI-Tech, which is based on monolithic
FEM with anisotropic adaptive meshing. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved with Variational
Multiscale Method to get the stabilized finite element formulation.
 The work involves description of formulation that deals with three phase flows and
implementations performed to allow solid phases to translate and rotate.
 Validation of this FSI solver ICI-Tech through standard test cases, for fully and partially immersed
objects.
