Sum:1 Prove that 16 divides 𝑛4 + 4𝑛2 + 11 if n is an odd integer

Solution:

Sum-2
Given: n is a positive even integer
Now we know that one out of three consecutive integer is divisible by
3
⇒ 3 is a factor of n(n+1)(n+2)
also since n is even
∴ one out of n and (n+2) will have a factor 2 and the other will have a
factor 4
Thus 2 × 4 = 8 is a factor of n(n+2) or n(n+1)(n+2)
Hence, 3 × 8 = 24 is a factor of n(n+1)(n+2)

Sum-3
let 2a+3b= 17k;
then a= (17k-3b)/2;
9a+5b= (153k-27b)/2+5b =(153k-17b)/2 = 17(9k-b)/2 ,
which is divisible by 17 and vice versa

Sum-6
As the product of three consecutive integers is divisible by 3, so
is the product of four consecutiveintegers. Again let the first of the
four integers be n. If n is divisible by 4, then n= 4k for some integer k
and n(n+ 2) = 4k(4k+ 2) = 8k(2k+ 1) is divisible by 8 and therefore so
is the product of the four consecutiveintegers starting with 4. ifn=
4k+ 1, then (n+ 1)(n+ 3) = (4k+ 2)(4k+ 4) = 8(k+ 1)(k+ 1) is
divisibleby 4 and therefore so isn(n+ 1)(n+ 2)(n+ 3). Similarly, ifn=
4k+ 2, thenn(n+ 2) is divisible by 8 andifn= 4k+ 3, (n+ 1)(n+ 3) is
divisible by 8, so the productn(n+ 1)(n+ 2)(n+ 3) in all cases is
divisibleby 8. Let the product equal 8lfor some integerl. As 3 divides
8land (3,8) = 1,l= 3mfor some integermand the product equals 8(3m)
= 24m. So 24 divides the product of four consecutive integers
