Coursework contributes 30%, and final exam contributes 70%. You should attend all classes.

Attendance:

Every student will have to fulfill the attendance requirements, as set by examination

Department, in order to appear in the exams .

There will not be any exceptions --- please do not contact me in this regard

Quizzes:

Quizzes are meant to test for continuous learning in this course.

Quizzes will be unannounced

Cheating --- unacceptable

Missing In class tests/Quizzes:

No retakes in quizzes are allowed, exam retakes are only possible in extreme cases of emergency e.g.,
personal hospitalization, death in the immediate family, etc. All such cases must be supported by the
documentation e.g., hospitalization records etc.
Assignments and tests:

Assignments are intended to provide you with practice using the ideas and concepts developed and are an
essential part of the process of mastering this course. I fully recognize the potential value of students
working or studying together, and I do not have any objection to this kind of cooperation, so long as all
participants are involved in all aspects of the work, not with each doing only a fraction of the
assignment. In particular, when you hand in a paper with your name on it, I assume that you are certifying
that the details presented are entirely your own work and that you played a substantial role at the
conception stage. If part of the work was done cooperatively, that part should be indicated and the names
of the students involved in the collaboration should be listed on each submitted paper.

Assignment must be submitted in the class before the beginning of the lecture (first 10 minutes) else it
will be marked late. You should contact me as soon as possible if you need to negotiate a due-date
extension. The longer you wait to negotiate, the less likely it is you'll be successful; in particular, you
have almost no chance of getting an extension if you try for one day before the due date, and you have no
chance of getting an extension on the due date. A late assignment is penalized 2 marks a day for each day
it's late. Only genuine cases will be entertained.

Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, if caught will lead to negative marking

Cheating in any form will not be tolerated, and stern measures will be taken against those
attempting to do so. There will be a policy of zero-tolerance for cheating. Any sort of cheating will
result in zero grade in that activity.

Although cheating has many forms, I generally consider cheating to be any attempt to claim someone
else's work as your own; also, I consider both the provider and the user of the work guilty of cheating. So
please note, no form of cheating will be tolerated.
