EXT. CHICAGO - DAY

14 October 2003

We hear the baseball game commentator speaking as we SLIDE

down to the streets of Chicago.

COMMENTATOR
Surely, some day the Chicago Cubs
are going to be in the world
series, and maybe sooner than we
think.

As we FLY slowly through a street, on eye level, we see

three teenagers walking towards us. Their behaviour is
cocky, like they are going to a baseball game, sure of
themselves they would win.

One kid has a glove on his left hand and plays with a ball
in his right. The second one holds a baseball bat that's
resting on his shoulder. The third kid, the tallest one,
simply wears a jersey and a baseball cap with the Chicago
Cubs logo on it.

There's also adults walking around and most of them also

wear baseball caps with the Cubs' logo.

COMMENTATOR
Flies out of the left center and
goes with a hop into the wall!
Bryant scores and it's a double for
Russel! That's a triple double here
in the bottom half of the first. He
got that ball in the air with
authority.

As we pass by the teenagers we PAN around to reveal their

backs. We can see the jersey says 27 RUSSELL on the back.

CUT TO:

INT. A SMALL BREAKFAST RESTAURANT

We SLIDE backwards through the restaurant we see a bunch of

people gathered on the bar and others sitting at the tables.
Everyone has their eyes stuck on the TV mounted above the
bar. They watch the baseball game while eating and drinking
coffee.

COMMENTATOR
This is a big moment for the Cubs!
As we all know they've won every
game by now. If they keep their
streak and annihilate the Florida
Marlins as they did with all of
their previous opponents, we're
going to see them in the World
Series!! Take a seat people, this
is a big moment of Cubs' history!
2.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT

We see a group of police officers gathered in what looks

like a lunchroom to watch the game as well. We GLIDE around
them and PAN towards JACK and BARRY.

JACK
You think they gonna win, Barry?

He gives him a critical look.

BARRY
Fuck yeah they will! They're
perfect this season.

Barry responds without taking his eyes off the screen.

JACK
I hope so.

Jack turns ahead again and sticks his eyes to the TV.

BARRY
What are you? Some Marlins' fan?

He turns his head towards Jack and gives him a suspicious

look.

JACK
Hell no! I... I just don't know.
I've got this feeling that
something bad is going to happen.

BARRY
Oh come on! Shut up and watch the
game.

Both simultaneously look ahead to the TV again and drink

from their beers.

CUT TO:

INT. FIRE DEPARTMENT

We see a group of firefighters gathered in front of a small

TV. Just as the police officers, they drink beer and have
their eyes stuck to the game.

COMMENTATOR
The last time the Cubs had been to
the World Series was in 1908. The
final countdown has begun people.
Five more outs and the team would
be in its full glory going to the
World Series.
3.

PAN and FLY through a window on the side. We FLY through the
streets of Chicago, increasing the speed of movement every
second.

FLY towards the Roseland Community near Eggleston.

CUT TO:

EXT. SANDRA'S HOUSE

TRUCK with SANDRA walking towards her house. She's hugging a

grocery bag with one hand and holds a phone to her ear with
the other hand.

SANDRA
Hey, sweetie! You won't believe
what happened!

KELLY
(on the phone)
What Sandra?

SANDRA
Remember when I told you about this
handsome guy I dated in high
school?

KELLY
Ugh... Which one exactly?

SANDRA
Come on! The blonde guy, Allen!

KELLY
Oh, yeah! So, what about him.

SANDRA
He's in town.

KELLY
No way! And...?

SANDRA
And I met him at Jewel's Store and
I gave him my number. He's with
another handsome from school -
Keith. They'll call me later
tonight and we can hang out.

By that time Sandra has reached the porch and is about to

unlock her main door.

KELLY
What do they want to do?
SANDRA
Hold on for a moment. Gotta get my
keys.
4.

Sandra puts her phone in her other hand and takes out her
keys. She unlocks the door and takes the phone back up to
her ear.

SANDRA
Okay,so, they want to do what we
do, Kelly, and you know how we do
it.

KELLY
Get high and party.

INT. SANDRA'S HOUSE

Sandra walks to the kitchen and leaves the grocery bag on

the table, then walks back to the main door to pick her keys
and close it.

SANDRA
Exactly.

KELLY
They got some money?

SANDRA
Yeah, Allen said they just got
paid.

KELLY
What kind of work they do?

Sandra walks back to the kitchen and starts picking out the
groceries from the bag and put them in the refrigerator.

SANDRA
I didn't go into all of that in the
middle of the store, girl! Stop
asking so many damn questions...
You can ask him yourself later
tonight. You down, or what, Kelly?!

KELLY
I just want to make one thing clear
before they get us high. I will
suck his dick, but if they wanna
fuck they gotta pay me.

SANDRA
I'm with you on that.

KELLY
Okay, see you later then.

SANDRA
Bye honey.

Sandra leaves the phone on the table and gets the last
product into the fridge. NATHAN, her little brother walks
into the room. He's sick and pale.
5.

SANDRA
Hey, little man! How are you?

NATHAN
I'm hungry sis.

SANDRA
Sit down, I'll make you a sandwich.

CROSSFADE:

INT. SANDRA'S HOUSE-LIVING ROOM

Sandra sits on the couch next to her brother. Both play

Super Mario on a Nintendo console.

Sarah's phone rings from the other side of the room a couple
of times before she pauses the game and gets up from the
couch.

NATHAN
Oh, come on!

SANDRA
Sorry, buddy, gotta pick up.

As she says that she walks towards the phone. She takes a
look at the screen and we see it in a CLOSE SHOT. It
displays a number instead of a name.

SANDRA
(whispers to herself)
Unknown number... Interesting.

She picks up.

SANDRA
Yeah?

ALLEN
Are you and your friend ready to
party?

Sandra glances back to her brother, who has restarted the

game and now plays alone, too busy to hear what she speaks.

SANDRA
Allen! Damn right we are!

ALLEN
(on the phone)
Perfect! Where do I pick you ladies
up?
SANDRA
Mm.. How about the gas station at
107th and Halsted?
6.

ALLEN
At what time?

SANDRA
Will be there in forty-five
minutes.

ALLEN
Okay. We'll be there.

Sandra hangs up and leaves the phone on the table again. She
turns to her brother.

SANDRA
Nathan, I'm going out!

Nathan just lifts a thumb and keeps on playing.

TRUCK to Sandra who goes out of the living room and upstairs
to her bedroom. She starts picking different clothes from
the wardrobe and puts them on the bed.

CUT TO:

EXT. ON THE STREET

Sandra walks down the road, smoking a cigarette.

EXT. THE GAS STATION

PAN to the side revealing Sandra standing there, lighting

another cigarette.A 1995 white Lexus LX 450 pulling into the
gas station.

CLOSE SHOT on the car.

Allen pulls down the side window and smiles to Sandra. As

the car moves forward we see Keith pulling down the window
on the back door.

Sandra steps towards the car.

KEITH
What happened to your girlfriend?

SANDRA
She is waiting for us at the liquor
store near 111th and Halsted.

Allen smiles at Sandra as she goes around the car and opens
the front passenger door.

ALLEN
I get it. You ladies want something
to drink to help get the party
started.

Sandra takes her seat.

7.

SANDRA
That's a nice car you've got Allen.

ALLEN
Yeah and sorry but no smoking
inside.

SANDRA
Ugh... Fine.

She throws the cigarette on the ground and steps on it

before closing the door.

PAN following the car.

CUT TO:

EXT. ON THE STREET

We see the Lexus driving fast on the streets.

EXT. THE LIQUOR STORE

We see the Lexus pulling into the liquor store parking.

INT. THE LEXUS

Sandra points to the liquor store.

SANDRA
That's Kelly.

EXT. THE LIQUOR STORE

We see Kelly taking her walk towards the car. As she gets
close Keith opens the back door.

KEITH
Hi! You should be Kelly. I'm Keith.

KELLY
Hey!

Allen gets out of the car.

ALLEN
Ladies, what would you like to
drink?

KELLY
I want some Hennessy. We call it
'Hen' because it makes me want to
sin! What about you Sandra?
SANDRA
Yeah, I like Hen too.
8.

They both giggle.

SANDRA
Hey, Allen! Don't forget to get
some ice and four cups.

Allen gives her a wink and walks towards the store.

Sandra turns around to Keith.

SANDRA
So, you don't remember me from high
school?

Keith takes a moment to examine her facial structure

closely.

KEITH
You look great. I never would have
recognized you after all these
years. You look better now than you
did back in high school.

Kelly bends over the window and takes a look at Keith.

KELLY
So, what is it you guys do for a
living?

Keith gives her a smile.

KEITH
A little bit of this and a little
bit of that.

Sandra and Kelly look at each other and smile. They

simultaneously speak.

KELLY
I feel you.

SANDRA
I feel you.

INT. THE LIQUOR STORE

We see Allen standing in line impatiently. The line moves

very slowly. As Allen gets closer to the cashier we can see
why the line moves so slow.

The cashier and all of the customers stare at the TV most of

the time, watching the baseball game. We hear the
commentator from the TV again.
9.

COMMENTATOR
The Cubs are now down by five runs
with only one inning left to play!

CUT TO:

EXT. THE LIQUOR STORE

We see Allen getting out of the shop and going back to the
car. Everyone has gotten out of the vehicle and speak
something. As he reaches them, Allen passes the grocery bag
to Kelly and she puts it on the back seat.

KELLY
(to Allen)
Where are we going to get high?

ALLEN
I don't know, you girls know this
town better.

KELLY
Well, Sandra and I like to go to a
place we call 'The Den'.

Kelly makes a bemused look.

KELLY
What motel are you guys taking us
if we're not going there?

ALLEN
Listen, ladies. I just spent
forty-five dollars on a bottle of
Hennessy and fifty on some rocks,
leaving me with only a few dollars
for the both of you. I tell you
what; the next time we get
together, I promise we will go to a
motel, okay?

KELLY
Sure. However, let me warn you that
there might be some people already
there getting high.

Keith lifts his shirt a little bit to reveal a .45 Glock on

his belt.

KEITH
I'll get rid of them fools. I
promise you they won't come back
there tonight.
Kelly gets in the back of the car and Sandra goes around to
the front. Keith and Allen enter as well.
10.

The Lexus' engine starts and the car drives off the parking
lot.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE DEN

The Lexus arrives in front of The Den and everyone gets out
of the car. Keith rushes towards the entrance of the old
house where a group of junkies just came out.

KEITH
Hey!

TREVOR
What's up bro?!

KEITH
We with the girl are going to have
a private party here tonight. We
don't want to be interrupted.

TREVOR
Oh, yeah? Private party on public
property?

Keith lifts up his shirt a little bit as he speaks.

KEITH
Exactly.

Trevor notices the gun and gets scared.

TREVOR
Alright, man. Don't worry we will
stay away, man.

KEITH
That's what I thought.

The group of junkies leaves as Allen, Kelly and Sandra

approach the house.

Everyone climb the stairs and enter the house.

INT. THE DEN

PAN around the main room. The light is very dim and we can
hardly recognize what is lying on the floor.

Allen opens the front door and the light from outside
reveals that the house has empty bottles, used condoms, used
syringes and a lot of trash.
As everyone enters, Sandra and Kelly take the lead through
the hallway and they go to what used to be the living room
of the house.
11.

ALLEN
It's too dark in here. I can't see
a damn thing. Hold on a minute,
I've got a gas lamp in my trunk.

TRUCK to Allen who goes out, gets the gas lamp from the
trunk of the Lexus and as he goes back inside he lights it.

It has enough light to dimly light the room.

In the middle of the room there is a large spool turned on

its side that serves as a table. Everyone takes a seat
around it on the plastic milk crates that are turned upside
down.

Allen breaks out the cups.

ALLEN
Would you like one or two cubes of
ice, ladies?

Sandra and Kelly again speak simultaneously.

SANDRA
Two cubes, please.

KELLY
Two cubes, please.

Allen places the cups in front of every one and puts the
couples of cubes into Sandra and Kelly's cups. He then
proceeds to pour the Hennessy until each cup is half-full.

KELLY
Who got the rocks?

KEITH
I do.

KELLY
Well, let's get this party started.

As Allen finishes pouring the Hennessy, Keith takes out the

crack and spreads it to smaller pieces. Allen then takes two
pipes out of his pocket and hands one to Kelly.

KELLY
Who got the fire?

Keith gives her a big grin and pulls out a kitchen lighter
out of the inside pocket of his jacket. Keith passes the
lighter and a rock to Kelly.

She drops the rock in the pipe and heats it up. Keith leans
forward with curiosity. Kelly waits until the pipe is filled
with smoke and takes a deep pull. Watching the pipe fill in
again she takes another toke, this time deeper.
12.

Her eyes flip back and she starts to swing back and forth as
she holds the smoke in her lungs, leaving the lighter on the
table.

Meanwhile, Keith hands the other pipe to Sandra dropping a

rock inside for her. He then grabs the lighter and heats the
pipe for Sandra. She takes a deep toke, just like Kelly did,
while watching Keith straight into his eyes. As her eyes
begin to close she tokes even deeper until the pipe is clear
of smoke.

Sandra exhales as her eyes flip to the top of her head.

Kelly takes a sip from her cup and then exhales the smoke.

Sandra glances at her and does the same, drinking

bottoms-up.

KELLY
Oh... That was good!

SANDRA
Fuck yeah it was!

Allen and Keith look at each other. Allen first takes a

small toke from the pipe and hands the lighter to Keith. He
does the same and leaves the pipe and the lighter on the
table.

CUT TO:

INT. THE DEN - A BIT LATER

Kelly reaches for his pipe and the lighter. Keith quickly
drops another piece into the pipe. Kelly lights it up and
takes a toke, this time even deeper.

Sandra follows and does the same with Allen's pipe. As she
smokes, Allen refills her cup.

Once she's done with the pipe she takes a sip from the Hen
and Allen reaches her and grabs her between the legs.

Sandra doesn't resist and after a few seconds she gets down
on her knees. Allen stands up and she unzips his jeans,
taking out his penis and starting to suck it. Slowly at
first, then faster bobbling up and down.

Keith watches her performance in awe. Soon Sandra makes

Allen close to orgasm.

Kelly also gets down on her knees and starts blowing Keith.

Both guys look at each other with their mouths wide open in
amazement.

It doesn't take long before both girls stop the oral sex and
giggle while looking at each other and sipping from the
Hennessy.
13.

ALLEN
Wow! You're amazing!

KEITH
Fuck yeah! Are there any bedrooms
in this old place?

KELLY
Sure there are but if you want to
fuck it will cost you fifty
bucks... Each.

ALLEN
I tell you what. We will give each
of you twenty-five and two rocks
after we fuck.

KELLY
No deal. You pay us up front or
there will be no fun boys!

SANDRA
Pay us now!

KEITH
Okay, ladies. How about we give you
twenty-five dollars now and the
rocks after we finish?

Sandra and Kelly look at each other for a moment.

KELLY
Deal.

Allen takes out his wallet and pulls out fifty dollars,
giving twenty-five to each one of the girls. He then grabs
the lamp and they all head upstairs.

CUT TO:

INT. THE DEN - UPSTAIRS

As they go upstairs and take a look at the bedrooms they see

nasty mattresses lying on the floor. He leaves the lamp in
the middle of the hallway, so it can light up two of the
bedrooms opposite to each other.

ALLEN
Geese! It smells like piss up here.

KELLY
Ah, we're used to it. Come on!

Kelly pulls Keith to one of the bedrooms.

14.

ALLEN
Man I'm not going to fuck in this
misery. I think I've got some
newspapers in the car. I'll be
right back.

Allen quickly goes to the car and Sandra starts taking her
clothes off.

Allen gets back and puts newspapers on the mattress. They

start kissing and quickly go to having sex.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

INT. THE DEN - UPSTAIRS

Allen reaches orgasm and so does Sandra. As he stands up

from the mattress we hear some shouting from the other
bedroom.

KELLY
Fuck you!

TRUCK to Allen and Sandra quickly go there to see what's

going on.

We see Kelly sitting on the mattress completely naked and

smoking from the crack pipe. Keith is next to her, bleeding
from his forehead.

ALLEN
(yelling)
What the fuck happened?

KEITH
This crazy bitch thought I was
asleep and took one hundred dollars
out of my pants' pocket and is now
refusing to give it back to me. She
then hit me in the head with that
damn pipe!

KELLY
Just where am I supposed to be
hiding one hundred dollars? Up my
ass? You've already been there and
we didn't even talk about this
being included. He knows there is
nothing up there.
Kelly turns her head, pulling hard from the pipe. Keith
grabs his Glock and hits her in the back of her head with a
tremendous force.
15.

Kelly's eyes flip to the top of her head as she falls

face-down on the floor.

Sandra's eyes open wide and she tries to run but Allen grabs
her by the back of her hair, dropping her on the ground.

He then sits on top of her with his hands around her throat.

ALLEN
Man did you see that stupid bitch's
face when I pulled her down on the
floor?

KEITH
Yeah that was hillarious!
Both start laughing.

KEITH
Look, I've heard some shit that if
you put enough lime with the bodies
it will dissolve everything.

ALLEN
We could give it a try.

KEITH
Let's just put these whores in the
basement and go shopping.
Allen opens the basement door and Keith hands him the gas
lamp.

ALLEN
It looks good enough.

KEITH
It stinks like shit.
Allen drags Sandra's body to the edge of the staircase and
kicks her down. Keith lifts Kelly's body.

KEITH
Watch this.
He throws her down the stairs and they both start laughing
as they go down after the bodies.

ALLEN
Here. We can put them in this coal
bin.

They put both bodies in the bin and go back up.

Wow, that's a lot of limes.

KEITH
Yeah, I love making lime juice.
SIDE SHOT ON ALLEN.

CASHIER
Hello.
ALLEN
Hi, there.
CASHIER
Two shovels, that's 15.34. Mind if
I ask why you need two?

ALLEN
Yeah, I'm a gravedigger.

The cashier looks at him stunned.

ALLEN
Just joking! We decided to plant
apple trees in our backyard.
The cashier giggles.

CASHIER
You got me on this one!
CUT TO:

INT. THE DEN - THE BACKYARD
It's already dark and Allan and Keith just finish up burying
the two corpses in the backyard, lighting their surrounding

they're done.

ALLEN
Well, that was one hell of a work.

KEITH
Yup. At least we're clean now.

EXT. THE DEN

TWO WEEKS LATER.

We see a black BMW parked in front of the house. The house looks
cleaner from outside.

CUT TO:

INT. THE DEN

SLIDE THROUGH THE HALLWAY.

The inside of the house is cleaned up and tidy.

PAN RIGHT TO THE LIVING ROOM.

Allen and Keith are wiping the floor with brooms. Allen finishes
and throws the broom on the ground.

ALLEN

I think we’re done.

KEITH

Yup. It looks much better now.

We hear a loud noise of the front door slamming.

Allen looks at Keith who pulls out his Glock. They both start
slowly walking through the hallway.

Keith peaks in what once used to be the kitchen. There’s a

junkie that’s sitting on the floor rolling his weed.

Allen and Keith confidently walk in the room.

KEITH

Hey!
4
JUNKIE .
Hey bro! Wanna smoke?

Keith points the gun to the junkie and yells at him.

KEITH

Get your junk ass out of this house or I’ll smoke you!

The junkie drops his weed and puts his hands up in fear.

JUNKIE

Hey, chill out man... I just wanna smoke somewhere safe.

ALLEN

This ain’t a safe house no more you stupid shit!

KEITH

Don’t you idiots learn? We’ve been beating and robbing your
white thrash asses for two weeks now. Give all your money mother
fucker!

The junkie slowly takes out his cash and leaves it on the
ground.

JUNKIE

Alright, alright. Here. Just calm down dude...

ALLEN

Just shut up and get out of here!

The Junkie slowly walks past them while Keith keeps his aim on
him.

KEITH

Tell your fucking friends that if anyone of you ever comes back
here it will be a massacre!

Once the Junkie reaches out of the kitchen and in the hallway he
runs our through the front door.

Keith puts his Glock back in his jeans’ belt and looks at Allen.

KEITH

Yeah, we gotta change the locks.

INT. THE BMW

Keith puts the bag with the new locks on the back seat.

KEITH

Man, this shit draws too much attention. We got to get a car
that looks more common for this poor ass community.

Allen takes a look at the people around. Everyone looks at the

car like they are seeing a Lamborghini.

ALLEN

Yup, definitely.

A second after Allen stops talking PAT knocks on the window.

Allen pulls it down.

PAT

Hey! You’ve got a nice car...

She pauses for a moment leaning a bit more to see Keith.

PAT

... Boys.

ALLEN

Uh... Yeah... It’s not mine, actually. I borrowed it from a

friend until I fix my old trash can.

PAT

Oh, I see. Uhm... Look, sorry for bothering but would you mind
giving me a hand? It’s too heavy for me and I can’t put the
paint in my car.

Allen looks at Keith and then back to PAT.

ALLEN

Uhm... Yeah, sure.

CUT TO:

Allen gets out of the car and walks with PAT to hers. There’s
. a
cart next to her car, full of large paint boxes.

ALLEN

Wow! What are you doing with all this paint?

PAT

Oh, well... I’m actually taking a rehab and decide to refresh my

house. Sort of a celebration for being drug free for three
months now.

ALLEN

Oh...

Allen starts putting the paint in the trunk of the car.

PAT

Please, don’t make a bad opinion about me because of this. I

realize drugs are a bad thing and I’m fighting my addiction.

ALLEN

No, no. Nothing like that. Actually, I’m having the same
problem.

PAT

Really? What is it you’re addicted to... Were addicted.

ALLEN

Crack...

PAT

No way! Same thing here. You know, I’m visiting a twelve-step

anonymous rehab meetings program that helps me get over my crack
problem. Maybe you can give it a try?

ALLEN

I don’t know...

PAT

Come on, just one time. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it and stay.

Allen finishes with the paint transfer and stretches out his
hand.

ALLEN

I’ll think about it. I’m Allen by the way.

PAT
7
Patricia. Nice to meet you, Allen. Look, if you change your. mind
about the meetings you can look for Dr. Layla Stephenson. She
has a website and you can get the address from there.

ALLEN

Okay, thanks! Take care, Patricia.

PAT

Just Pat. That’s how all my friends call me.

ALLEN

Alright, Pat. I’ll think about the rehab.

Allen turns around and walks towards the BMW.

PAT

And thanks for the help!

You’re welcome.

Alright, so I guess that was for today guys. Stay strong! I

believe in you and I know you can believe in yourselves.

Everyone stands up and start leaving the room. Allen spots Pat
and approaches her.

ALLEN

Hey, Pat!

PAT

Oh, hi! You came!

ALLEN
8
Yeah... Actually, this is the third time I’m visiting the
.
meeting. Why did you skip the last two?

PAT

I didn’t. I’ve been here. How did I miss you?

ALLEN

I don’t know. I also didn’t see you.

PAT

Well? Do you like it here?

ALLEN

Yeah, I think it kind of helps.

They silently look at each other for a moment, before Allan

speak.

ALLEN

Hey, would you like to grab a coffee sometimes?

PAT

Yeah, sure! How about on Thursday?

ALLEN

That sounds great!

PET

Okay, I’ll bring a couple of friends here from the meeting. I

hope you don’t mind.

ALLEN

Yeah, sure. Why would I.

PAT

Okay, Thursday let’s say 4pm at Louis’.

ALLEN

Perfect. See you on Thursday then.

Joan returns to the rest. Pat asks what’s going on.

PAT

Hey, you look worried.

JOAN

Our dog was hit by a car in front of the house. I’m sorry I must
go...

Katie looks at Patricia with a brink of sorrow.

KATIE

I’m sorry, Pat, I’ll go with her...

Patricia switching her eye-sight from Joan to Katie and back,

letting them know she doesn’t mind it.

PAT

Don’t worry about that. I hope the dog is alright.

JOAN

Thanks! Call me later to tell me what happened.

PAT

Sure.

Katie and Joan get their purses and leave. At the door Katie
bumps into Allen, who is just entering the cafe.

Allen smiles and walks towards Pat’s table.

ALLEN

Hi! I thought you were going to be with your friends.

PAT

Yeah, you just bumped inti them at the door.

ALLEN

Why are they leaving so quick?

PAT

Joan’s dog got hit by a car. .
ALLEN

Oh... I’m sorry.

PAT

I’m sure it’ll be alright. What’s up with you?

PAT

It’s that old?

ALLEN

Yup. Anyways, how are you today?

Keith approaches her.

KEITH

Hey! Are you okay?

She doesn’t move. Keith kneels next to her and touches her

KEITH

Hey...

Becky suddenly slaps his hand without lifting her head.

BECKY

Fuck off!

KEITH

Hey, I just want to help!

She lifts her head and looks straight into Keith’s eyes.

BECKY
11
Oh, really? I doubt you can and why would you... .
KEITH

Maybe I can and why not help a beautiful lady like you?

BECKY

You think I’m beautiful?

KEITH

Yeah.

BECKY

Maybe you can help.

KEITH

Just tell me how.

BECKY

Got crack?

KEITH

Hell yeah I do.

BECKY

Well, what are you waiting for? Take out the pipe.

KEITH

Oh, I don’t risk carrying it. It’s home. If you want we can go
there and get fucked up.

BECKY

I-I don’t even know you...

Keith stretches out his hand.

KEITH

I’m Keith.

Becky hesitates for a second and then grabs his hand.

BECKY

I’m Becky.

KEITH

Nice to meet you, Becky. Are you hungry?

BECKY
12
Actually yeah... .
Keith stands up and helps Becky.

KEITH

Come on, let’s go grab something to eat.

BECKY

I-I don’t have any money...

KEITH

Let me worry about that, okay?

Becky gets up and they start walking slowly.

KEITH

Want to tell me your story? How did you come to this?

BECKY

That’s a long story.

KEITH

I have some time.

Keith and Becky hide behind the corner as they reach the main
sidewalk.

You’re welcome.

PAT

I had a great time today.

ALLEN

Yeah, me too. It feels great talking to you.

They make a few slow wavy steps.

ALLEN
13
It’s late. Do you need a ride home? .
PAT

Well... That would be nice if you could.

Allen looks at her and then pulls out his crack pipe from under
the seat.

ALLEN

I feel really bad about it... But maybe if you join me I’ll feel
better... And we can start fresh tomorrow!

Pat thinks about it for a second.

PAT

Okay... Yeah, why not!?

Allen lights up the pipe and does a small toke. He passes it to

Pat. She takes a deep toke and rests her head back.

PAT

Damn it feels good!

ALLEN

I know, right? Top quality.

PAT

Got another rock?

ALLEN
14
Actually yeah but not in me. I’ve got a lot back home. If .you

While Allen leads the girls to the living room.

The room is now tidy and looks like a decent home.

BECKY
Nice house you've got here boys.

ALLEN
Thanks! Please, take a seat.
Keith places the bottles on a wooden table that the boys
managed to put together from some old planks.

Allen brings cups from the kitchen and takes a seat. Keith
starts pouring the drinks.

PATRICIA
Do you have ice?

KEITH
Sadly, no.

Keith takes a seat and Allen takes out the crack pipe and a
rock. Keith pulls out his. They put a rock in each pipe and
hand them to the girls.

Pat takes a deep toke and Becky follows. They return the
pipes to Keith and Allen with Pat being first to do that.

ALLEN
I know, right!

Becky's looking at Pat's motionless body and she is scared

and confused at the same time.

MID SHOT.

Keith is looking at Allen.

KEITH
Well, that shit is your problem. Me
and Becky are going upstairs.

Keith pulls Becky for the arm, leading her upstairs.

Becky pulls her arm.

BECKY
Wait! Is she alright?

Keith gives her a confident look.

KEITH
She's fine. She just had too much
booze. Come on!

Keith pulls Becky again and leads her up.

TRUCK TO ALLEN.

Allen picks up Pat's body and heads to the basement.

INT.BASEMENT

Allen dumps the body into the coal bin.

CUT TO:

INT.UPSTAIRS BEDROOM

Keith and Becky are already undressed and in the "bed" that
again was roughly made of planks.

Allen comes in the room and starts untying his belt.

BECKY
I'm not doing both of you!

Keith and Allen look at each other.

KEITH
We share everything and that
includes you Becky!

Allen steps forward. Grabbing Becky's head he pushes his

penis in her mouth. She pushes it out.
2.

BECKY
What's going on with the other
girl?

ALLEN
She passed out. She'll be fine by
tomorrow morning.

Allen sticks his penis back in her mouth.

Keith looks at Allen.

KEITH
You know, this is the first time I
ever fucked a white girl!

ALLEN
First time too.

Becky once again takes Allen's penis out of her mouth.

BECKY
Want me to call some friends?

ALLEN
You have some friends who will come
to the South Side?

BECKY
Yes but they'll want some snack and
money.

KEITH
How much are we talking about?

BECKY
Hundred a piece.

ALLEN
We could make a damn movie!

BECKY
I've already made a few for the
last two years. You can make a lot
of money with the right girls and I
know them!

ALLEN
Can you call them now?

BECKY
It's too late already but how about
tomorrow?
KEITH
Let me think about it.

Allen once again pushes his penis in Becky's mouth.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

INT.UPSTAIRS BEDROOM

Allen and Keith are sitting on the bed next to each other.

ALLEN
Once we have about three or four
movies we can move on to other
genres.

KEITH
That's brilliant!

They both stare blank into space, thinking about it.

Suddenly Keith makes a disappointed expression.

KEITH
Wait... Fuck!

ALLEN
What?

KEITH
I just realized how expensive are
cameras and all the equipment we
would need.

Allen thinks about it for a second.

ALLEN
Fuck!

Keith looks at Becky who is on the bed, passed out.

KEITH
Look, fuck that. We've got another
problem right now.

Allen gives Becky a look.

CUT TO:

INT. A MOTEL ROOM

Becky wakes up with Allen and Keith on her sides.

Allen wakes up right after her.

ALLEN
Good morning.

BECKY
Hey... Wha-What's going on?
4.

ALLEN
What do you mean?

BECKY
What is this place?

ALLEN
That's where we came last night
after I picked you up.

BECKY
But... Wait, what's up with the
other girl?

ALLEN
She woke up earlier and left.

Becky stands up from the bed and wakes Keith up.

KEITH
Hey...

ALLEN
Morning bro.

BECKY
I need a shower.

KEITH
Call your friends first.

Keith gets up and throws a phone to Becky. She catches it

and starts typing a number.

BECKY
(on the phone)
Hey, Lucy! You wanna come with the
girls to the South Side?

LUCY
(on the phone)
Fuck no! What the hell are you
doing there, girl? Come back north
before something bad happens to
you.

BECKY
Come on, Lucy!

LUCY
I said no! Get yo' ass over here
asap!

Becky puts down the phone.

BECKY
Well, they don't want to come...
Sorry I mislead you.
5.

Allen and Keith look at each other.

KEITH
Ah... That's fine.

CUT TO:

INT. THE DEN - BEDROOM

Keith is lying on the bed and Becky is on top of him.

They're having sex and Allen comes in with a chainsaw turned

BECKY
What the fuck!

Becky stands up and looks around trying to figure out how

she can escape.

ALLEN
Time to have some fun, Becky!

Keith starts laughing hysterically.

BECKY
That's not funny!

Allen swings the chainsaw towards Becky and she steps aside.

BECKY
Dude, stop it!

KEITH
Yeah man! That will be too much
blood.

Allen looks at him and turns the chainsaw off.

ALLEN
Good point. It's fun but too much
work afterwards.

Becky hesitates for a moment but then starts running. Allen

looks at her and drops the chainsaw.

ALLEN
Fuck! Come here you stupid bitch!

Allen starts chasing Becky who has almost reached the

staircase.

Allen hits her in the back of her head with a fist while
running and Becky falls down the stairs.
Allen starts laughing while Becky falls down.

ALLEN
Man you should have seen this!

Blood is spilling from her head.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE DEN - BACKYARD

ALLEN
Fuck, we got to figure out an
easier way to bury those bitches.

KEITH
I'm afraid there isn't an easier
way, bro.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

EXT. CHICAGO'S AREA SOUTH DETECTIVE DIVISION

WALTER is smoking a cigarette, waiting for MARSHALL.

A car stops next to Walter and Detective Marshall Willis

comes out. The car drives off.

MARSHALL
Walter Best?

WALTER
Detective Willis. How is it going?

MARSHALL
I'm sorry but I have nothing new
for you, Walter. Local prostitutes
come and go all the time and
sometimes they just leave the state
hoping to make more money.

WALTER
That local prostitute is my cousin,
Marshall!!

MARSHALL
I know, I know. I wish I had more
information.

WALTER
You cops never have info. Fuck it!
I'll find what happened to my
cousin myself.
7.

MARSHALL
I doubt you'll find something more
than we did but you're free to look
around for her. Just, report
everything you find out.

WALTER
Fuck you, man!

Walter turns around and starts walking.

MARSHALL
Keep yourself out of trouble,
Walter! I don't want to see you
selling drugs again.

Walter keeps walking and lifts his middle finger without

turning around.

CUT TO:

INT. NIGHT CLUB

We see Walter speaking to a woman about something. We hear

only the music from the club.

CUT TO:

EXT. STREET

KEEP THE MUSIC FROM THE NIGHT CLUB.

We see Walter speaking to a man, a drug dealer. They

exchange a few words and the man offers him crack. Walter
refuses and starts walking.

CUT TO:

EXT. ANOTHER STREET

MUSIC FADES OUT.

We see Walter speaking with Gloria.

GLORIA
We need to know who these guys are
in order to survive out here,
Walter. I've been out here for ten
years, trying to stay alive.

Walter keeps looking at her in expectation.

GLORIA
You know, we have a saying out
here: That's how the cookie
crumbles here in the jungle; That's
how it is out here, a real jungle.
By the way, I'm Gloria, Gloria
Bennett.
8.

WALTER
Nice to meet you, Gloria. Look, I'm
trying to find my cousin.

Walter shows her a high school graduation photograph of

Sandra.

WALTER
Her name is Sandra. She's changed a
bit since she graduated.

Gloria takes a closer look at the photo.

GLORIA
You better find a more recent
photo.

WALTER
Will you be able to help if I do?

GLORIA
Probably. What's in for me?

WALTER
If you help me find her, my family
will do what we can to help you
out.

GLORIA
Alright. Got paper and pen?

WALTER
I think so.

Walter searches through his pockets and pulls out sticky

notes and a pen. He hands them to Gloria who writes down her
number.

GLORIA
That's my number. Call me when you
get a new photo.

CUT TO:

EXT. ANOTHER RANDOM STREET

ONE WEEK LATER.

Walter types down Gloria's number and calls her. He puts the
sticky note in his pocket and pulls out a more recent photo
of Sandra.

WALTER
(on the phone)
Hi, Gloria. It's Walter.

GLORIA
(on the phone)
Hey! You got another photo?
9.

WALTER
Yeah, took me a week to find one.
Let's meet up.

GLORIA
Okay, how about seven-thirty
tonight. There's a bar near 120th
and Halsted.

WALTER
Sounds good. See you there.

CUT TO:

INT. MO'S BAR

Walter walks inside. Gloria is already sitting at the bar,

drinking. She waves at Walter and he walks to her.

GLORIA
Take a seat and talk fast. I'm
having a date here in twenty
minutes.

Walter hands her the photograph.

WALTER
Here. Looks familiar to you?

GLORIA
Yeah, I know her. She and this
other girl, Kelly, worked together.
You're right, I haven't seen them
for a while.

WALTER
What do you mean worked together?

GLORIA
Remember when I told you about the
little codes we have? You see, when
you work along with someone you
look out for each other. They were
together in everything.

WALTER
Well, do you know this Kelly's last
name?

GLORIA
I don't even know if that's her
real name. Like me, most girls take
on street names. My real name is
Mahalia Lee Jackson, nothing to do
with Gloria.

WALTER
Okay, so you haven't seen this
Kelly in a while either?
10.

GLORIA
Nope.

WALTER
Has anyone ever come around here
looking for either one of them,
like, the police?

GLORIA
Not to my knowledge. No one other
than you has ever asked me about
either one of these girls. Once
people find out you're a dope fiend
and a prostitute they don't give a
shit about you. Nobody cares for
us, Walter.

WALTER
Okay, you got my number?

GLORIA
Yeah.

WALTER
Could you please ask around, see if
you can find something?

GLORIA
You want me to act like one of
those undercover detectives on TV,
right? Like a real Sherlock Holmes?
Wow!

WALTER
Just call me if you find out
anything. It doesn't matter the
time of the day, just call me.

Gloria glances at the door of the bar.

GLORIA
Okay, you got to go. My date is
here. Hey, before you leave you
could give me a few bucks, if you
don't mind?

WALTER
Yeah, sure. How about twenty
dollars?

Walter takes out his wallet and Gloria gives him a

what-the-fuck look.

Walter takes out forty dollars and puts them in Gloria's

hand. She smiles.

WALTER
Be safe.
11.

Walter walks out of the bar.

CUT TO:

INT. THE POLICE STATION

Walter walks in and reaches to the desk. He takes a closer

look on the tag of the female officer.

WALTER
Hello, officer... Wallace. Can I
speak with detective Willis?

WALLACE
Hold on.

The officer picks the phone.

WALLACE
Wallace here. I've got a man who
wants to speak with Marshall
Willis... Mhm... Yeah... Okay.

The officer hangs up.

WALLACE
Sorry, detective Willis won't be
here today.

WALTER
Is there anyone else I could speak
with.

The officer gives him an annoyed look. She picks up the

phone again.

WALLACE
Yeah, Wallace again. Is there
anyone else this guy can speak with
because he's getting on my nerves?

She remains silent for a moment.

WALLACE
Okay.

She hangs up the phone.

WALLACE
Take a seat, someone will be down
in a minute.

Walter sits down.

CUT TO:

INT. THE POLICE STATION

RAY FLYNN comes and reaches Wallace.

12.

RAY
Who wanted to speak with Willis?

Wallace points at Walter who stands up from the chair. Ray

steps forward.

RAY
Sergeant Ray Flynn.

WALTER
Walter Best. Sir, is there a place
more private where we can speak?

RAY
Yeah, my office. Follow me.

Ray and Walter walk inside.

CUT TO:

INT. RAY'S OFFICE

Ray walks in and holds the door for Walter.

RAY
Please, take a seat.

Ray closes the door and sits behind the desk. He takes out a
notebook and a pen.

RAY
Okay, tell me what's the reason for
this.

WALTER
I've got some information. It's not
much but it's something to start
with.

RAY
Go on.

TIME LAPSE.

Walter starts talking and Ray starts taking notes.

Once Walter finishes talking Ray puts down the pen.

RAY
Okay, I'll inform detective Willis.
He'll be back in two days and will
give you a call.

WALTER
Thank you!

RAY
Thank you for your cooperation,
Walter.
13.

Walter stands up and shake hands with Ray.

CUT TO:

INT. WALTER'S HOUSE

THREE DAYS LATER.

Walter's phone rings. It's the detective.

WALTER
Detective?

MARSHALL
Walter, I've got the report from
Sergeant Flynn. Do you have any
names?

WALTER
Only one, sir. Supposedly Kelly.

MARSHALL
No last name?

WALTER
No and I believe she's missing too.
She's black and I think she's
around the same age as my cousin
Sandra.

MARSHALL
Okay, thank you Walter! I'll get
back to you once I have something
solid.

WALTER
Alright.

Walter puts down the phone.

WALTER
(to himself out loud)
Fucking cops. Not giving a shit
about my cousin. Just like Gloria
said.

CUT TO:

INT. WALTER'S HOUSE

2AM. His phone rings. It's Gloria. Walter picks up.

WALTER
Yeah?
GLORIA
Hey! It's Gloria, sorry if I woke
you up.
14.

WALTER
What do you have?

GLORIA
First, I need to know if you have
any money!

WALTER
Go on.

GLORIA
(whispering)
I have some real good lead but I
need to get high, Walter. I need
fifty bucks, I feel awful.

WALTER
I don't have fifty dollars at two
o'clock in the morning, and if I
did, how would I give it to you?!

GLORIA
Please, man, I need the fifty
dollars now! I will suck your dick
for it if you want me to. I just
need the money!

WALTER
What do you have that's so
important that you would call me
this time of the morning for fifty
damn dollars?!

GLORIA
I have a guy who told me he saw
Sandra and Kelly with these two
crazy motherfuckers.

WALTER
What two crazy motherfuckers? You
got names?

GLORIA
If you just meet us at te gas
station on 115th Halsted in fifteen
minutes you can ask him yourself.
He's not going to be around here
for long. The both of us are trying
to get high, and if somebody pulls
up and wants to do some business,
we're gone.

WALTER
Alright, alright. I'm coming.
TRUCK TO WALTER.

Walter rushes out of bed and puts on his sweatsuit. He grabs

his wallet and makes sure he has at least fifty dollars in
15.

it.

He walks out and gets in his car, driving off.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE GAS STATION

Walter pulls to the gas station. Gloria is leaning on the

passenger window of a car that's parked there. Walter blows
the horn of his car and Gloria looks at him. She walks away
from the car and approaches Walter.

She opens the door and gets inside Walter's car.

GLORIA
You got my money?

WALTER
Where's the guy?

Gloria points to a skinny, malnourished-looking young man

standing in the middle of the street. Gloria leans out the
window.

GLORIA
Hey, Snowball, our ride is here!

WALTER
What do you mean your ride is here?

GLORIA
Let him in, he's fine.

Walter grabs his head with both hands and tries to figure
out what to do next. Meanwhile, Gloria turns around and
unlocks the rear door for Snowball. He gets in.

SNOWBALL
(to Gloria)
Is this the connection?

GLORIA
No. This is the guy looking for the
two motherfuckers you told me
about.

Snowball takes a minute to realize what Gloria just said.

SNOWBALL
(to Walter)
I don't want to mess around with
them. They are certified crazy.
Saying this, Snowball opens the door and tries to get out of
the car.
16.

GLORIA
(to Snowball)
Get your ass back in this damn car!
We are not looking for them now, he
just wants to know who they are and
where he can find them.

Snowball closes the door. Walter takes down all the windows
of the car because he can't bear with Snowball's aroma.

GLORIA
(to Walter)
Let's go.

WALTER
Where?

GLORIA
113th and Normal. That's where my
connection is. We can talk as
you're driving.

Walter pulls off the gas station.

CUT TO:

INT. WALTER'S CAR

While driving, Walter turns to Snowball.

WALTER
So... What can you tell me about
these guys?

SNOWBALL
They're nuts!

WALTER
I already heard that. Anything
else?

SNOWBALL
Crazy motherfuckers.

Walter pulls over.

WALTER
Before I give either of you a dime,
you're going to tell me more than
that they are two crazy
motherfuckers! What the hell are
their names?

SNOWBALL
One of them is called Crazy A. All
the dope boys and whores around
here know them by Crazy A and his
boy.
17.

WALTER
I need names, addresses,
descriptions of what they look
like, what car are they driving and
anything else!

WALTER
Just ask any of these dope boys.
They can tell you exactly who they
are. They're driving a different
car every time someone sees them.

Walter pulls off and starts driving again. He turns left

onto Normal and halfway down the block Gloria speaks while
stretching her palm open.

GLORIA
Stop! Give me the money now.

Walter pulls over. Snowball opens the rear door and goes out
of the car. Walter takes out his wallet and gives her the
fifty dollars.

Gloria goes out of the car and disappear into a dark alley
along with Snowball.

PAN FOLLOWING THE CAR.

Walter pulls off and drives away.

SHUN
Yeah, I heard they're two crazy

WALTER
So did I. Do you know their names?

One guys is Allen and the other one

three months. It's not like her to
not check in, despite her
addiction, which means she is
probably dead.

SHUN
Okay, let's say she's dead. Where
is the body, then? Because, with no
body, you have no crime. I don't
mean any harm Walk, but she's just
another missing bitch, if you know
what I mean..

WALTER
Shun, you said they have killed at
least ten people, right? So tell me,
were the bodies ever found?

SHUN
Yes, because they wanted them to be
found and send a message that they
were not to be fucked with.

WALTER
What about all the women they
killed? What happened to their
bodies?

SHUN
Bro, they just disappeared one day
and nobody heard from them again,
just like your cousin.

WALTER
So, we need to follow them and see
where they go, or better yet, let's
give them a whore and follow her
and see where they go.

SHUN
Man, you talking about some TV
shit! What whore do you know that's
stupid enough to do some shit like
that?

WALTER
Then let's ask the police if they
have undercover people, right?

SHUN
Man, you trippin'! I can't afford
to have the police around me, I got
a business to take care of.

WALTER
I don't know man... I don't know.

CUT TO:

INT. WALTER'S HOUSE

NEXT DAY.

Walter is sitting in his living room, trying to figure out a

plan. His phone rings. It's Gloria.

WALTER
Yes?

GLORIA
Hi, Walter! It's Gloria.

WALTER
Yeah, I know. What you got?

GLORIA
I have some good info but I need
hundred bucks.

WALTER
What?! Hundred dollars?! Have you
lost your mind?

GLORIA
Listen, man, I found where those
two crazy motherfuckers take their
whores to get high and fuck them.

Walter jumps up from the couch.

WALTER
Are you sure of the exact
location?!

GLORIA
Uhm... Snowball knows. His crazy
ass followed them to the house. I
told him he was stupid and that
they would kill him if they knew
what he was doing.

WALTER
Why do you like Snowball so much?

GLORIA
He's my younger brother. He was
trying to help me get straight and
got caught up. We've been watching
each other's back for the past five
years, but I'm tired and he is sick
with the HIV virus. We can't afford
the medicine. Eventually, my
brother is going to die.
6.

WALTER
Where is he now? I need the address
of where those guys go to get high.

GLORIA
I asked him to meet up with us at
115th and Halsted, where he likes
to hang out. People know Snowball
around there and Crazy A and his
boy are less likely to do any harm
to him. We have got to find him
before they kill him!

Gloria starts crying on the phone.

WALTER
Look stay there. I'm coming.

Walter hangs up and rushes to his car.

CUT TO:

EXT. 115TH AND HALSTED

Walter arrives with his car and Gloria gets in.

GLORIA
I've looked around but I can't find
him anywhere... I hope he's not
dead.

WALTER
Let's ride around, see if we can
find him.

Walter drives off.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

INT. WALTER'S HOUSE

We see a TV with the news going on.

NEWS REPORTER
Today, the police found the body of
R.L.Jackson, also known as
Snowball, dumped in a garbage can
behind a car wash on 115th Halsted.
This is the third body of a known
drug user found in the past three
months. Their throats have been
cut, so the investigators are sure
this is a murder but for now
there's nothing on the murderer.
7.

ZOOM OUT.

Walter is sitting on the couch, watching the report.

WALTER
(speaking to himself)
Oh... God... What did I get myself
into...?

CUT TO:

INT. WALTER'S HOUSE

2:30AM.

Walter is sleeping when his phone rings. He wakes up and

picks the phone. It's Gloria.

GLORIA
Hey! Sorry for calling that late.

WALTER
What do you have?

GLORIA
I was just checking through my
texts when I saw that Snowball sent
me a text maybe right before he
died.

WALTER
And?

GLORIA
It has the address of an abandoned
house at South Eggleston.

WALTER
Where are you?

GLORIA
Same old spot.

WALTER
Wait there, I'm coming.

Walter rushes out of bed, puts on his clothes and runs to

the car. He quickly drives off.

CUT TO:

EXT. 115TH AND HALSTED

Walter pulls over next to Gloria and she gets in the car.
They drive off in a rush.

CUT TO:
8.

INT. WALTER'S CAR

WALTER
Where are we headed exactly?

EXT. NEAR THE DEN

Walter parks his car and turns off the lights.

GLORIA
What are you doing?

WALTER
I'm going to take a look around.

GLORIA
What?! Are you insane?

WALTER
Come on, it's 3AM. Who's awake at
that time?

GLORIA
We are.

WALTER
Anyways, come on.

They get out of the car and slowly walk to the old house. As
they get closer they start to express their fear.

Walter reaches the front door and out of curiosity tries to

open it. It's locked.

GLORIA
(whispering)
Do you want to break in and look
around?

WALTER
(whispering)
Hell no! Not by myself.

GLORIA
(whispering)
Well then, should we call the
police?

WALTER
(whispering)
What should I tell them? That I
found where two crazy motherfuckers
get high, fuck and kill street
whores? Gloria, you're just as
crazy as them!

Walter steps back from the porch.

9.

WALTER
(whispering)
Come on! Let's go back.

Gloria follows him back to the car. They get inside and
Walter drives off.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter walks in to meet officer Wallace again. She gives him

a frowned look.

WALLACE
Didn't they tell you they'll call
you back if they got something?

WALLACE
I have something very important to
tell the detective about the case
and I need to talk with him now!

Officer Wallace calls for Detective Willis to come down and

talk with Walter.

A moment later the detective rushes out through the security

gate with his coat on and a hat in hand.

MARSHALL
Make it quick. I have another job
to do.

Walter walks by his side out of the building and to the

detective's car.

WALTER
I think I've found where the two
crazy men take the girls and kill
them. They're probably also buried
there, that's why you can't find
them.

MARSHALL
What the fuck are you talking
about? What men? What house and
what is this shit you're talking
about dead bodies?

WALTER
All the disappeared women in the
past four months.
10.

MARSHALL
Listen, in order to break into
someone's home we need a search
warrant. Do you know what that is,
Mr.Best?

The detective gets inside his car and drives off, not giving
a chance to Walter to explain.

Walter hangs there not knowing what to do, feeling blown

off.

His phone rings. It's Shun. Walter picks up.

WALTER
Yo.

SHUN
Man... I watched the news. Did you
hear about Snowball?

WALTER
Yeah, I know already.

SHUN
I told you those motherfuckers are
dangerous and would kill a nigga in
a heartbeat.

WALTER
Yeah, you told me man, but that
still doesn't make it right what
these fuckers are doing! But...

SHUN
But what nigga?

WALTER
I fear he might have spoken why he
did all this... I think they might
be coming for me next and I don't
know what to do..

SHUN
Do you remember Henry Long from
high school? The quarterback of our
team?

WALTER
Yeah, what about him?

SHUN
Well, he works in the gang unit
over there on 111th Street.
WALTER
How do you know this?
11.

SHUN
I make my living on these streets,
man. You got to know who is what,
and that includes the police too.

WALTER
Do you think he might help me>

SHUN
I don't know, man.. All you can do
is ask at this point.

WALTER
I remember him well. We all
graduated from high school
together. In fact, he and I had
several classes together.

SHUN
Exactly. Just speak to him.

WALTER
Okay, thanks!

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

THE NEXT MORNING.

Walter walks in the station and for his surprise Officer

Wallace is at work.

WALLACE
Let me guess. You want to see
Detective Willis.

WALTER
No ma'am. I am here to see a gang
officer named Henry Long.

Wallace stares at him for a moment.

WALLACE
He works nights and he won't be in
until five PM. But I tell you what,
Mr. Best, let me check to see if he
is working tonight because I would
hate to see you keep coming back
for no reason.

Wallace picks up the phone and calls to check Henry's shift.

In a minute she hangs up.
WALLACE
Yup, good news. He's working
tonight. Bye.
12.

WALTER
Thank you!

Walter turns around and walks out of the station.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter is standing at the entrance/exit of the station. He

looks at his watch.

4:45 PM

Wallace is giving away the shift to the relief officer.

WALLACE
(the the relief officer)
Mr. Best over there is waiting to
meet gang specialist Henry Long.

RELIEF OFFICER
He can take a seat and wait.

Walter steps forward and takes a seat.

WALTER
Thank you!

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter looks at his watch again.

5:05.

WALTER
Sorry, could you please check if
Henry Long is here?

The relief officer picks up the phone and in a few seconds

hangs up.

RELIEF OFFICER
Yes. He's coming.

A moment later the gate opens and Henry comes out.

HENRY
Walter Best, my man! How are you
doing brother? I heard you left
town to go back to school.
Walter gives him a surprised look.
13.

HENRY
Yeah, news travels fast around
here, and bad news travel even
faster. How can I help you, Walt?

WALTER
Is there some place we can speak
more private?

HENRY
Is that serious?

WALTER
Yes.

HENRY
Okay, come to my office.

They walk through the security gate and go to Henry's

office.

Both take their seats.

HENRY
Tell me, now what's so serious you
want to talk about?

WALTER
I've found the murderers of the
bodies that were found in the past
three months. I know their names,
their address and I suspect they
have abducted, murdered and buried
the bodies in the house they live
in.s

Henry looks at him with amazement.

HENRY
Wow! Okay, let me- just-...

Henry rushes to get out some pen and paper so he can write
everything down. He manages with some effort to do it
quickly.

HENRY
Okay, I'm listening.

WALTER
First, I don't know last names.
First guy is named Allen, the other
one is Keith. These psychopaths
take street prostitutes, get them
drugged and most likely kill
them... Although I'd be much
happier if they're just held
hostages.
14.

HENRY
Why?

WALTER
My cousin is among the missing
girls.

HENRY
I see.

AUDIO FADES OUT. MUSIC FADES IN.

TIME LAPSE.

They keep on talking for an hour but we don't hear the

conversation anymore, just the music. As they speak, Henry
keeps on writing notes.

At the end of the conversation, Henry tells Walter that

he'll call him back.

HENRY
I'm absolutely amazed by how much
information you have on this case.
I'm going to investigate this and
I'll get back to you.

WALTER
Thank you! Thank you, sir!

HENRY
Here, type down your number here.

Walter grabs the pen and paper and types his number.

Both shake hands and Walter walks out of the station.

CUT TO:

EXT. POLICE STATION - PARKING LOT

Walter comes out of the station and walks to his car. He

gets inside and drives off.

CUT TO:

INT. WALTER'S CAR

Walter is driving happy that finally someone from the police

gives him the needed attention.

He stops at a red light and an old white BMW pulls next to

him.
The light switches to green and Walter keeps on driving,
watching the white BMW that drives next to him.

Walter speeds up and so does the other car.

15.

Walter notices this and takes a left turn, then a right one.
He looks in the rear mirror and the white car is following
him.

Approaching another red light, Walter hesitates if he should

stop or rush through. He slows down and the white BMW pulls
next to him. One window comes down and Walter sees a gun
pointed at his face.

Walter steps on the gas. He reaches the police station but

his car turns over.

The BMW goes in the other direction.

Walter manages to get out of the car and rushes into the
station.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter rushes to the desk sergeant and explains what just

happened and demands to speak with Officer Long.

The desk sergeant picks the phone and calls Henry.

A moment later Henry comes through the gate.

HENRY
Walter, what happened? Come, let's
go in my office. Take a breath.

Henry leads Walter up to his office and they take a seat.

WALTER
I thought I was going to die! Those
motherfuckers really are crazy!s
They followed me back to the
fucking police station! Who does
shit like that?!

Walter is overexcited.

HENRY
Walter. Walter! Calm down.

WALTER
To calm down? Do you understand
what I'm saying!? They just tried
to kill me right in front of a
police station!!!s

Henry stands up.

HENRY
I'll be right back.

Henry walks out of the office and returns in a minute with

another three officers.
16.

HENRY
These men have over twenty years of
gang experience on the south side
of Chicago and they had never heard
of Allen or Keith.

WALTER
Go take a look at my car if you
don't believe me.

Henry and the three officers look at each other.

CUT TO:

EXT. POLICE STATION - PARKING LOT

Walter points to the passenger door of his car.

WALTER
Here. If these are not bulletholes,
I must be dreaming.

Henry takes a closer look at the holes.

HENRY
Yes, they are. Shit.

Henry turns around quickly.

HENRY
Everyone, follow me.

They go back inside the station. Henry approaches the desk

sergeant.

HENRY
Contact sergeant Charles Joyner and
tell her to meet with us at my
office.

HENRY
(to Walter)
Walter, wait here. I'll be right
back.

Walter takes a seat without questioning.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Henry walks out with his whole team.

HENRY
Come on, Walter! You're leading us
to that house.

Walter jumps from his seat, surprised by the immediate

reaction of the police.
17.

CUT TO:

EXT. POLICE STATION - PARKING LOT

All officers get in their cars with Walter sitting with

Henry in the first one to drive off.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE DEN

Police cars arrive from both sides of the road and surround
the house at a safe distance.

EPISODE FIVE

by

George Dobrev
FADE IN:

EXT. THE DEN

The house is surrounded and officers are walking calm.

Walter is waiting in the car outside the perimeter with

Henry.

An officer approaches the car.

OFFICER
Sir, the house is clear but it
smells like dead bodies. We're
going to search it better to see
what is going on.

HENRY
Alright. Take Walter somewhere more
safe, officer.

OFFICER
Yes, sir. Mr. Best, please follow
me.

Walter goes out of the car and follows the officer. They go
to a car, get in and the officer drives off.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE CAR

WALTER
Where are we going?

OFFICER
Somewhere safe.

Shortly after the officer pulls off.

WALTER
What are we doing back at the
station?

OFFICER
Told you. I'm taking you somewhere
safe. Come on.

The officer gets out of the car and Walter follows with a
little hesitation.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter is sitting in what looks like an interrogation room.

WALTER
Can I go home and come back later?
2.

Walter is alone in the room but the officer is watching him

from behind the one-side mirrored glass. He speaks through
the mic.

OFFICER
No.

WALTER
Am I under arrest?

OFFICER
No but you can't leave either.

WALTER
Can I at least make a phone call?

OFFICER
Not now, but maybe later when the
dicks get here.

WALTER
What are they doing?

OFFICER
Processing the crime scene, and
that could take a while.

WALTER
Okay, can I get some food or
something to drink? I'm starving.

OFFICER
Sure.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Another officer enters the room, leaves a McDonalds' bag of

food at the table and goes out.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter has eaten everything and is lying on the table. He

tries to sleep but can't.

The door opens and Detective WRIGHT and Detective DUPLASSIS

enter the room.

WRIGHT
Hello, Mr. Best. I'm detective
Wright and this is detective
Duplassis.

DUPLASSIS
Mr. Best, can I ask you to tell us
your story again?
3.

WALTER
Do I need a lawyer?

WRIGHT
You tell us, Walter. Do you think
you need one?

They remain silent for a moment.

DUPLASSIS
No, man, we were just fucking with
you. We talked to your friend, Gang
Specialist Henry Long and he filled
us in on what was going on.

WRIGHT
Yeah but we still need a full
description of these guys you're
talking about.

WALTER
Well, they're two crazy
motherfuckers.

DUPLASSIS
Yes, we know that, sir. We need
something more. What kind of car
were they driving? Did you see the
plate? Do you know their last
names? Any addresses?

Walter takes a moment to get out of the stun that the

detective threw at him.

WALTER
I-I... Wait! Do you really think I
was trying to get their license
plate while they were shooting at
me?

WRIGHT
Could you give our artist a
description of them? Maybe you can
help us with a composite drawing of
what they looked like.

Walter shakes his head.

WALTER
I'm not trying to be funny here but
all I saw was two crazies from the
waist up shooting in my direction.
The driver was brown skinned and
the passenger was a little darker,
with a crazy look in his eyes. He
was mean mugging me.
4.

DUPLASSIS
How did they know you were going to
the police?

WALTER
I don't know!

DUPLASSIS
Did you tell anyone where you're
going?

Walter thinks for a moment.

WALTER
Yes. Yes, I told Gloria.

DUPLASSIS
Who the hell is Gloria?

WALTER
She's a prostitute I met while
looking for Sandra. Gloria and her
now dead brother led me to these
guys.

The detectives look at each other.

WRIGHT
How did the brother die?

WALTER
He was found in a garbage can
behind the car wash near 115th and
Halsted two days ago.

The detectives look at each other again.

DUPLASSIS
We'll be right back.

Both go out of the room.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

The detectives come back. Duplassis holds a file with a

picture of Snowball.

WRIGHT
Why would she tell them you were
going to the police if she is your
friend?
WALTER
They must have caught her and made
her talk.
5.

WRIGHT
Do you have her number?

WALTER
Yes, I do.

WRIGHT
Then call and ask her.

Walter stares at the detective for a moment.

WALTER
Well, you took my phone.

Wright looks at Duplassis.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Detective Duplassis brings Walter's phone. He finds Gloria's

number and calls. The phone rings until the voice mail turns
on.

DUPLASSIS
She probably has a date right now
and can't answer the phone. You
know it's not polite to talk with
your mouth full.

WALTER
Real funny. Can we go out and look
for her?

WRIGHT
Where exactly could we look for a
prostitute at nine in the morning?

WALTER
Every time she asked me to meet
her, she was near or at 115th and
Halsted. Let's go there!

WRIGHT
I'm saying it again - it is nine in
the morning. Prostitutes come out
at night.

WALTER
Ugh... Fine. Can I go home to take
a shower and change my clothes?

The detectives glance at each other.

DUPLASSIS
Sure. We're leaving in ten minutes.

WALTER
We?
6.

DUPLASSIS
Yes, Walter, we're coming with you.

WALTER
What? Why?

DUPLASSIS
We can't risk to get you killed.

CUT TO:

EXT. WALTER'S HOUSE

Outside two police cars are parked and officers are having a
chat.

The radio in the car turns on.

RADIO
All units, a body of what appears
to be a female prostitute had just
been found in a garbage can in the
alley of 120th and Normal.

All officers look at each other and then to Walter who just
comes out of the house and walks towards them.

CUT TO:

EXT. 120TH NEAR NORMAL

Walter and other officers arrive at the crime scene. It's

already surrounded by blue and white cars.

Everyone comes out of the cars, including Walter.

WRIGHT
Walter, come with us!

WALTER
Why do I have to go? I don't want
all these people to see me talking
to the police.

DUPLASSIS
We need you to come with us.

He walks with them and as they get near the garbage can, he
sees Gloria's legs hanging off the can.

WALTER
Oh my God! That's Gloria!

Walter turns back and goes inside the car.

DUPLASSIS
How could he identify her without
seeing her face?
7.

Wright gives her a smirk.

DUPLASSIS
Oh... Oh! Her ass... I see. Men.

Inside the car Walter starts crying. Wright walks to the

car.

WRIGHT
It's time for you to go home. We'll
get back with you later. We have to
process this crime scene now.

WALTER
Hell to the no! Those two crazy
motherfuckers are still out there,
and they might know where I live. I
ain't going nowhere! You guys have
to put me into some kind of witness
protection or something.

WRIGHT
What if we assign a marked police
car to you and your house?

WALTER
Hell no! That's telling everybody
on my block that I'm working with
the police. I have to live there
after this shit is over, if I'm
alive.

WRIGHT
Okay, we will get you a hotel room.

WALTER
Not here in this city. No ma'am,
unless it is downtown with a police
guard standing outside my room.

WRIGHT
We'll try to get it authorized.
Stay here for now.

WALTER
Okay. Thank you!

CUT TO:

INT. HOTEL ROOM

Walter is sleeping sweet in his hotel room.

His phone rings.

CUT TO:
8.

INT. HOTEL HALLWAY

The officer in front of the room hears the phone and glances
at the door.

CUT TO:

INT. HOTEL ROOM

Walter picks the phone. It's Wright.

WRIGHT
Hey, Walter. Is everything alright?

WALTER
Yes. I'm sleeping, detective.

WRIGHT
Okay, sorry. Call us when you feel
like talking.

WALTER
Can we do this around nine?

WRIGHT
Sure, but we'll be going back to
the station because of the
magnitude of this case.

WALTER
What do you mean? What's going on?

WRIGHT
We'll talk in the morning. Get a
good night of sleep.

Wright hangs up and Walter puts down the phone.

CUT TO:

INT. HOTEL ROOM

7AM

Walter's alarm rings. He shuts it off and gets up.

The guarding officer knocks on the door.

OFFICER
Good morning, Mr.Best!

Walter glances at the door.

WALTER
Good morning!

Walter gets up from the bed and goes to the bathroom.

CUT TO:
9.

EXT. THE HOTEL

An unmarked police car waits for Walter. He comes out of the

hotel and an officer asks him to sit in front.

Walter gets in the car and they drive off.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE POLICE STATION

As the cars approach the station Walter can see a large

group of journalists gathered at the entrance.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE CAR

Walter turns to Wright on the back seat.

WALTER
What's going on?

WRIGHT
I have an overcoat and a hat for
you to put on. We want you to look
like an officer. We don't want
people to know who you are just
yet, if you don't mind.

WALTER
I'm absolutely down for it!

Wright hands him the coat and hat.

WRIGHT
Here. Put them on.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE POLICE STATION

Walter is now wearing the coat and the hat. Along with the
other officers they pass by the reporters remaining
unrecognized.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

As they enter the station Walter greets officer Wallace.

WALTER
Good morning, Officer Wallace!
She glances at him and smiles, shaking her head.

CUT TO:
10.

INT. DETECTIVE'S OFFICE

Everyone take their seats.

WRIGHT
How did you find them?

WALTER
They found me.

WRIGHT
Okay, let's start from the
beginning. Who did you talk to, to
find their names?

WALTER
Gloria and Snowball... Who are both
dead.

WRIGHT
Anyone else?

WALTER
There... There is someone but I
don't think he'll want to talk to
the cops.

WRIGHT
Mr. Best, do you understand the
situation? We have two psychopaths
on the streets and we need to get
to them before they kill someone
else!

WALTER
Yes, I know! I know. Okay, let me
call him and see what happens.

Walter takes out his phone and dials Shun. The phone rings
but there is no answer. He tries again and a third time but
the result is the same.

WRIGHT
Do you know where he lives?

WALTER
No... But I think his mother still
lives in the house he grew up.
That's on 104th and Wallace.

DUPLASSIS
Let's go! Walter, you'll do the
talking.
Everyone stands up and leave the office.

CUT TO:
11.

EXT. SHUN'S HOUSE

The officers have taken positions around the house, hidden

so that Shun can't see them.

Walter rings on the doorbell and waits with Duplassis by his

side.

A moment later, Shun opens the door.

SHUN
What the hell are you doing here
and who is this bitch you brought
to my mama's house!?

Duplassis pushes her way into the house without asking.

Walter also gets inside.

SHUN
Bitch, you the police!

DUPLASSIS
Yes, I am and I need you to calm
down, sir.

Shun's mother, Lilly, comes from the back of the house.

LILLY
What's going on?

DUPLASSIS
(to Shun)
Do you have any weapons on you?

SHUN
No.

She searches him anyways to find out he's telling the truth.
She then picks her radio.

DUPLASSIS
(on the radio)
I'm in.

DUPLASSIS
(to Lilly)
Is there anyone else in the house?

Lilly shakes her head.

DUPLASSIS
Could you please open the back
door?
Lilly follows the request and as she opens the back door
detectives Patterson and Byrd walk in and start searching
the house for another person.

Wright walks in through the front door.

12.

WRIGHT
(To Duplassis)
Did you search him?

DUPLASSIS
Yes, he's clean.

WRIGHT
Do it again.

Duplassis searches Shun again but she doesn't find anything.

Patterson and Byrd come back.

PATTERSON
All clear.

SHUN
(to Walter)
You got that dope fiend and whore
killed, and now you trying to get
me and my mama killed! I told your
ass not to fuck with them two
niggers! I told you they were some
crazy motherfuckers!

Wright and Duplassis speak simultaneously.

DUPLASSIS
Calm down!

WRIGHT
Calm down!

The detectives glance at each other with a slight smile.

DUPLASSIS
(to Lilly)
Please, you can wait up in your
bedroom but don't use the phone
while we're here, okay?

LILLY
Okay.

Lilly goes upstairs, nervous of the situation.

WRIGHT
(to Shun)
Listen to me. We don't give a damn
what you do for a living. We are
looking for the two guys you call
Allen and Keith, or Crazy A and his
boy. Now, where the fuck are they!?
SHUN
I don't know where those guys are,
man.. I don't fuck with them like
(MORE)
13.

SHUN (cont'd)
that. I told numb-nuts over there
not to fuck with them.

WRIGHT
Well, we need something to help us
find them before they kill again.
Do you want someone to get killed,
Shun!?

Shun remains silent and lowers his head, shaking it

slightly.

WRIGHT
You need to think, and I mean think
real hard, because we're not
leaving here until you tell us
something. Now, what's it going to
be?

SHUN
Damn, man, I heard they go to this
after-hours club just south of
127th Street near Michigan. I've
heard they like to fuck with the
strippers and get high in the back
of the club. I don't know for sure
but I know the owner of the club,
Big Mike and I know he fucks with
them.

WRIGHT
He "fucks with them"?

SHUN
I believe he sells them drugs and
they do little jobs for him.

WRIGHT
What type of jobs?

SHUN
Now don't get me to start lying on
them, but I heard they jack cars
and shit. I've seen them a couple
of times to change plates on a car
and drive it around for a few days
before they get it to Big Mike. I
also know that if Big Mike wants
someone to get hurt he sends the
boys again.

WRIGHT
Does Big Mike know what they do on
their own?
14.

SHUN
Probably, but as long as he's
getting paid he doesn't give a
fuck.

DUPLASSIS
How do we get in touch with Big
Mike?

SHUN
I don't have a number or something
but you can find him in his club
tonight. He's there making sure
everything goes smooth.

WRIGHT
How are we supposed to know who
these guys are when we see them?
You are the only person who can
recognize them.

SHUN
And get me killed because I work
with the police!? Hell no, that
shit right there ain't happening!

WRIGHT
So, how do we get inside the club,
Shun?

SHUN
You can't. You look too much like a
cop, but your girlfriend here cab
get in all day and night.

Shun points to Duplassis.

SHUN
All she has to do is dress the part
and walk right in.

DUPLASSIS
You mean if I dress like a skank
whore, they'll let me in?

SHUN
That's right, lady. You're their
type. If you are looking for them
once they hear about the new sexy
lady, trust me, they will
eventually show up.

WRIGHT
How often do you go to the
after-hour joint?
15.

SHUN
Only when one of the guys is
throwing a bachelor party or
something like that.

WRIGHT
Any parties scheduled for the next
couple of days?

SHUN
Not that I know of, but tomorrow is
Friday, and there's always a party
on Friday night.

WRIGHT
Okay. We're on for tomorrow night.
We'll set up the logistics. You
just answer your phone when we call
you. If Detective Duplassis has no
problem getting in, you just point
them out to her and we will take it
from there. They won't have a clue
that you had anything to do with
their arrest. Any idea how many
guys with guns we have in the club?

SHUN
They check you at the door to make
sure no one is carrying a weapon.

DUPLASSIS
How about the ladies?

SHUN
They just look them over and check
their purses.

WRIGHT
Do they use a detector wand or
anything like it?

SHUN
No.

WRIGHT
Good. Okay, we're good to go.

Walter follows the detectives to the cars parked nearby and

they leave. Shun watches them until they disappear.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Walter and the detectives are sitting in one of the offices.
Walter looks stressed.
16.

WALTER
Sorry, but, can I just go back to
the hotel room until all of this is
over? It's a bit too much for me.

The detectives look at him.

WRIGHT
Of course, yes. Frenchie, can you
please assign an officer to take
Walter to his hotel?

DUPLASSIS
Of course. Walter, come.

Walter stands up and goes out of the office with detective

Duplassis.

Walter and the officer start walking.

Wallace gives him a big smile.

ALLEN
Hello. I'm looking for Roger Keith,
he should be in the lock up.

WALLACE
Let me check for you. You can wait
over there.

Wallace points the chairs and Allen takes a seat. She picks
the phone.

In a minute, Wallace puts down the phone.

WALLACE
He's been arrested for being drunk
and disorderly conduct with a bond
set at one hundred dollars. He
could go to court and probably be
released on his own recognizance in
the morning.

ALLEN
Can't I just pay the bond?

WALLACE
Of course you can.

Wallace keeps smiling at Allen and starts to fill a release

form for Keith.

WALLACE
And what is your name?

ALLEN
Gregory Allen, but you can call me
Greg.

WALLACE
Okay, Greg, and his name is Roger
Keith, right?

ALLEN
Yup.

Allen stands up from the chair and goes to the desk again.
He opens his wallet and hands hundred dollars to the
officer.

WALLACE
Thanks!

Allen hands her a piece of paper with his phone number.

2.

ALLEN
That's my number. Maybe I could
call you sometime?

Wallace keeps smiling and blushes.

WALLACE
I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend.

ALLEN
Oh, sorry.

WALLACE
No, no, don't worry. It's very kind
of you.

Allen smiles and goes back to the chair.

WALLACE
He'll be released in a few minutes.

ALLEN
Thank you.

Allen turns to Wallace.

ALLEN
I hope I see you again, but of

She smiles at him again. Allen and Keith walk out of the

Did you see the guy who was walking

3.

KEITH
No?

ALLEN
Well, that's the nigga from 79th

and shit.

KEITH
He must be working with the police.

ALLEN
Yeah, and they must be looking for
us. We have to take care of this.

CUT TO:

The police car stops in a alley and Eric goes out.

ERIC

Alright.

Eric starts walking and the police car leaves the alley.

try again tomorrow.

ERIC
Alright. Can you give me a ride?

OFFICER
Sure. Get in.

Eric opens the door and gets inside the car.

ERIC
Just, leave somewhere near 87th and

OFFICER
Okay.

The car drives off.

ALLEN
I think it's time for us to leave
this city.

KEITH
It is but we have no money.

ALLEN
What about Mike?

KEITH
What about him?

ALLEN
Maybe he can lend us some cash.

KEITH
I'll try him.

Keith picks his phone out and dials Big Mike.

KEITH
(on the phone)
Yo, Mike, what's up!?

BIG MIKE
You know, just chillin' with my
girls. You?

KEITH
We're near the club, Mike. We want
to talk but I'm afraid the cops
might be looking over your place.

BIG MIKE
The cops are looking for you?

KEITH
Yes. Come to the grocery store two
blocks down. We'll be inside. It
should be a safe place to talk.

BIG MIKE
Fifteen minutes.

Big Mike hangs up before Keith can say something.

Allen looks at him.

ALLEN
So?

KEITH
Fifteen minutes he said.
ALLEN
Great!

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Wright and Duplassis are in the office. Wright speaks on the

phone while Duplassis is giving orders to officers, pointing
to a map.

WRIGHT
We all set?... Good.

DUPLASSIS
I want two snipers here and here.
Two more need to be placed on the
other side - here and here. Three
female undercover officers will go
inside and we can try to get three
male ones as well. I also want
civil officers walking around the
club. We all storm this shithouse
once we get our eyes on Allen and
Keith!

CUT TO:

INT. GROCERY STORE

Allen and Keith are walking around the store, looking at the
groceries and putting some in a basket.

Big Mike walks in the store with a small suitcase in hand.

He spots the boys and approaches them.

ALLEN
Mike, what's up!?

BIG MIKE
You tell me what's up? Why is the
police looking for you?

ALLEN
Well, you know...

KEITH
We've killed several whores
recently.

BIG MIKE
God damn you crazy motherfuckers!
How much do you need? I've got
three grand here.

ALLEN
Should be enough to spend some time
away and let things cool off.
BIG MIKE
If you need more just call me.

Big Mike hands Allen a cell phone.

7.

BIG MIKE
It's a burner, in case the cops are
listening.

ALLEN
Cool!

BIG MIKE
Here, and keep in mind you'll need
to return those once things settle
down.

ALLEN
No problem!

Allen takes the suitcase.

KEITH
We'll go in Gary, Indiana.

BIG MIKE
I'm not sure that's a good spot.
Try Maryville instead, you'll draw
less attention.

ALLEN
Sounds good to me.

Allen looks at Keith.

KEITH
Yup. Maryville here we come!

brought you here on Friday nigga?

SHUN
I thought Big Mike was having a
party.
TREVOR
Damn, fool! That was last week!

Shun walks forward to the bar and Trevor is lead by a girl

to the dance floor.

The guard stares at her up and down.

GUARD
Damn! You fine with your tall
white-looking ass!

Frenchie turns around.

FRENCHIE
These are my girls from Saint Louis
who are looking for a good time.

The guard takes a few seconds to stare at the other

undercover officers.

GUARD
You ladies came to the right place!

The guard waves to them to get inside and the women do so.

CUT TO:

INT. BIG MIKE'S CLUB

Frenchie and the other ladies get inside and approach the
bar and take a seat. Every man in the club is looking at
them.

Before they are able to order drinks, few men come and offer
to buy them a drink. They all refuse and make their orders.

TIME LAPSE:

THE LADIES DRINK, REFUSE A FEW MORE GUYS BEFORE THEY FINALLY
ACCEPT TO DANCE. THEY PARTY FOR A WHILE.

SHUN DANCES AROUND AND OCCASIONALLY SHAKES HIS HEAD AS A

Shun sits at the bar next to Frenchie.

SHUN
Nothing.

Frenchie leans forward and speaks to his ear.

9.

FRENCHIE
Where is Big Mike?

SHUN
I don't see him here tonight.

FRENCHIE
Go check if he's in the backroom or
even here.

SHUN
Alright.

Shun orders a drink and as the bartender serves it, he grabs

the glass and with a dancing step heads to the door, leading
to the backroom.

As he reaches it he peaks inside. He remains like that

watching for a while, before going to NESS.

SHUN
Yo, man, I came to the club
expecting a party for Big Mike and
I don't even see him.

NESS
The party was last week dude.

SHUN
Is Big Mike around at all?

Ness shakes his head.

NESS
He's out taking care of some
business for those two stupid
motherfuckers. Them dudes got
themselves into some real trouble
this time. Mike's out there trying
to fix the problem as we speak.

SHUN
Alright. Tell Mike I've stopped by.

NESS nods and Shun walks out of the club.

CUT TO:

EXT. BIG MIKE'S CLUB

Shun walks out and goes to a car parked nearby. He takes a

seat inside and in a moment Duplassis comes.

FRENCHIE
So?
10.

SHUN
Mike is out dealing with Allen and
Keith. He's trying to help them
out.

FRENCHIE
Fuck! Okay, wait here.

Frenchie goes back inside the club and in a minute comes

back with the rest of the undercover female officers.

They get inside the car and Frenchie uses the radio.

FRENCHIE
All units, Big Mike is not here!
Abort! I repeat, Abort!

FRENCHIE
(to Shun)
You can go come. We'll keep an eye
on the club to see if Mike shows
up.

CUT TO:

EXT. BIG MIKE'S CLUB

6AM

The last people from the club come out and walk away.

Ness comes out and locks the door. He walks to his car and
drives off.

CUT TO:

INT. NESS' CAR

Ness picks his burner phone and calls Big Mike.

BIG MIKE
Ness!

NESS
Hello, boss. What's going on?

BIG MIKE
First, tell me if something unusual
happened tonight?

Ness thinks for a moment.

NESS
Uhm.. Well, we had a group of girls
from St.Louis. Other than that, no.

BIG MIKE
Did anyone ask where I was?
11.

NESS
I don't think so.

BIG MIKE
Think harder, Ness!

Ness takes a moment.

NESS
Oh, yes! That dope boy Shun was
asking about you.

BIG MIKE
What did you tell him?

Ness senses the frustration in Mike's voice.

BIG MIKE
What did you tell him Ness!?

NESS
That you were spending time with
your lady.

BIG MIKE
Good. What did he say next?

NESS
Nothing, he just left.

BIG MIKE
Did the girls leave with him?

NESS
No, I think they left later on.

BIG MIKE
How much later?

Ness senses the worry in Mike's voice.

NESS
What's going on, boss?

BIG MIKE
Nothing. Listen, Ness, take a look
in your rear view mirror and tell
me if there's a car following you.

Ness takes a look and sees a car.

NESS
There's a car but I don't know if
they're following me.
BIG MIKE
Turn around and go back to the
club, now!
12.

NESS
What? Why do I need to go back,
boss?

BIG MIKE
Just do the fuck as I tell you,
nigga! Now!!

Ness takes a turn and heads back to the club.

NESS
Okay, I've turned around.

BIG MIKE
Now look in the mirror again and
tell me what that car is doing.

NESS
They keep going.

Ness pauses for a moment.

NESS
Oh, no, boss! They turned around
and are behind me again.

BIG MIKE
Okay, I need you to turn around
again. This time speed up and see
if they try to keep up with you.

Ness does so.

NESS
Yeah, boss, they are keeping up but
they try to stay back a little. I
think they...

Big Mike interrupts him.

BIG MIKE
Shut up and listen! This number I'm
calling you from is dead from now
on. You will not be able to reach
me on this number. You got that!?

NESS
Yeah, boss.

BIG MIKE
I will call you from now on. If I
call you and the police are
listening, the code is "Hold your
horses.". Did you get that, Ness!?
Hold your horses will let me know
to hang up.

NESS
Okay, boss.
13.

BIG MIKE
If they arrest you, ask for a
lawyer right away and ask to make a
phone call. If they let you, call
Black Betty. You got her number,
right?

NESS
Yeah, boss, I got it in my phone.

BIG MIKE
Listen, Ness, they'll be taking
that phone from you so you better
write the number somewhere. You got
pen and paper? Can you do it now?

NESS
Uhm... No, boss, I don't.

BIG MIKE
I'm going to have someone call you
to see if you made it home.

NESS
Who's going to call me? Black
Betty?

BIG MIKE
If the police arrest you, tell her
you need her to call your lawyer.

NESS
But I don't have a lawyer, boss.

BIG MIKE
She'll get you one, fool! Just keep
your damn mouth shut! You hear me!?
Ask for a lawyer and keep your
fucking mouth closed!

NESS
What did I do that I need a lawyer
for, boss?

BIG MIKE
Stop fucking calling me "boss"!!

NESS
What do you want me to call you,
boss? That's what we always call
you.

BIG MIKE
Ness, listen to me very carefully
and for the last time. If they
arrest you, just ask for a lawyer
and call Black Betty to get him. I
know you don't have a lawyer but
(MORE)
14.

BIG MIKE (cont'd)

I'll get you one. Just keep your
mouth shut and don't tell the cops
anything. Don't even ask them for
water! Just keep asking for your
lawyer.

NESS
Okay, I get it now boss.

CUT TO:

INT. DARK ROOM

Big Mike is sitting behind a desk. The room is dimly lit.

He hangs up the phone.

BIG MIKE
(to himself out loud)
Why do I fuck with these brainless
motherfuckers?

Big Mike dials a number on the phone.

BIG MIKE
Betty.

BLACK BETTY
Yes, boss, what's up?

BIG MIKE
Listen, this number is not on your
name, is it?

BLACK BETTY
No, it's one of those burners you
gave me.

BIG MIKE
Okay, if you get a call from Ness
asking for a lawyer, ask him where
he is. If he doesn't know, have him
as the cops so the lawyer can know
where to go. Then call me right
away.

BLACK BETTY
What's going on, boss?

BIG MIKE
Stop calling me "boss"!

BLACK BETTY
Well, what do you want me to call
you then?

BIG MIKE
You sound like that stupid ass!
15.

BLACK BETTY
What stupid ass?

BIG MIKE
Just call me on this number, Betty!
I'll tell you what to do next.

BLACK BETTY
What's Ness arrested for?

Mike looks at the phone, shaking his head in disappointment.

BIG MIKE
He's not yet! IF he calls you just
do what I told you! You get that!?

BLACK BETTY
Yes, boss.

Mike slams the phone down and breathes deep to calm down.

Attorney Robert Cushman (BOB) was sitting behind his desk,

His cellphone rings and he picks up.

BOB
Good morning! This is Bob, what can
I do for you?

BIG MIKE
Morning, Bob. It's Mike. I have a
problem.

BOB
Oh, hi Mike. Is it a big or a
little problem?

BIG MIKE
Huge!

BOB
Are the police involved?

BIG MIKE
Yes... And no.
BOB
I take it for a yes then.

Mike remains silent and Bob continues.

16.

BOB
I take it you are not in custody at
this time. Am I right?

BIG MIKE
Yes, you are.

BOB
Where are you, Mike?

BIG MIKE
On the streets.

BOB
Can you make it to my office?

BIG MIKE
Let's say I'll be there in about an
hour.

BOB
Okay, good. I'll see you then.

Bob hangs up the phone and keeps reading his newspaper while
taking a sip from his coffee.

CUT TO:

INT. BOB'S WORK OFFICE

Bob is typing something on the computer when Big Mike enters

the office.

Bob stands up and they shake hands.

BOB
Good to see you, Mike. Tell me
what's going on.

BIG MIKE
Well, in short we're getting hunted
down for murder.

Before Bob can say anything, Mike's cell phone rings. It's
Betty.

BIG MIKE
Sorry, I have to pick up.

Big Mike picks the phone.

BIG MIKE
Betty?
BLACK BETTY
Ness just called. They have him in
custody at the 11th and Cottage
Grove Station, on the second floor
(MORE)

BLACK BETTY (cont'd)

Homicide Unit. He says they keep
asking about you, boss. They want
to know about two crazies who
killed five street whores.

BIG MIKE
He told you all of that on the
phone!?

BLACK BETTY
Yeah, man, he did! They want to
talk to you, he said. He's been
there for the last two hours and he
said that a lawyer couldn't help
him or you at this point, unless
you turned yourself in right away.
Other than that, all of you are
going down for murder. Who did Ness
kill, boss?

BIG MIKE
You know that stupid motherfucker
won't kill anybody.

BLACK BETTY
Then why are the police saying he
killed them bitches... And it's all
over the TV!?

BIG MIKE
Listen, go get all the money
stashed under the floorboards and
bring them to my lawyer's office.
Then you'll go on a trip to see
your mother in Detroit.

BLACK BETTY
What? All the money?

BIG MIKE
Didn't your ass hear me the first
time, bitch!? Yes, all of it!!

Mike hangs up the phone and looks at Bob.

BOB
Okay, now tell me what's going on
exactly.

BIG MIKE
There's these two crazy niggas who
went on a killing spree. I swear I
have nothing to do with that part
of their lives. I know them and
they've done some odd jobs for me
but I'm clean on the murdered
whores.
18.

BOB
What kind of odd jobs are we
talking about?

BIG MIKE
I worked with this guy who runs a
chop shop in South Suburbs and they
would steal cars for the parts he
needed. We all made a little money.

BOB
How much are we talking about,
Mike?

BIG MIKE
Around five hundred dollars per
car, sometimes a little less.

Bob leans forward and looks Mike straight in the eyes.

BOB
Tell me the truth right here in my
office, because if you are involved
in these murders and the state can
prove it, you're done. I need to
know just how deep you are involved
with these guys.

BIG MIKE
You know me, I'm a hustler and I
sell a little dope sometimes. I
make most of my money off the
girls, the club and the cars.
That's what I do. I'm not a killer!
I have three daughters, two here in
Chicago and one back in Detroit.
Her mother is sitting outside in
your waiting room right now. I
ain't no motherfucking killer!

BOB
Do you know where these guys are?

BIG MIKE
They said they were going to one
place, but they are probably not
there. One other thing, the police
want me to turn myself in to the
homicide detectives in Area South.

BIG MIKE
Is there anything else?

BIG MIKE
Yes, they are holding one of my
guys, Ness, until I turn myself in.
19.

BOB
What does Mr. Ness have to do with
these murders?

BIG MIKE
Nothing. He works at the club for
me. He's like a bouncer and my
personal security. I pay him eight
hundred dollars a week in cash. He
knows absolutely nothing. Bob, I
need you to get him out.

BOB
My retainer is going to be fifteen
thousand dollars, if you're telling
me the truth. If we have to go to
court, and you know how much I hate
going there, my charge will
definitely go up.

BIG MIKE
Like I said, my baby Mama Betty
should be already sitting in your
waiting room with your money.

Bob stands up and opens the door. He waves and Betty comes
in with a suitcase. Bob takes his seat.

She places it on the desk and opens it. Big Mike takes out
five stacks of one-hundred dollar bills and places them in
front of Bob.

Bob leans to the side and opens his personal safe. He takes
the stacks inside, without counting them, and locks the safe
back.

BOB
Okay, Mike. You have retained my
services. Now let's go to our
friends at Area South Homicide Unit
and see why they are holding an
innocent man. What was his name,
again?

BIG MIKE
Ness. That's his last name.

BOB
Okay, it's nine thirty am now. I'll
give you call around two. When you
come in the station, we will sit
and talk with them. When they ask
you a question you look at me and
I'll tell you how to answer it,
based on what you just told me. If
they ask something we're not
prepared for, we will ask for some
time and discuss how to answer that
question. Do you understand?
20.

Big Mike nods.

BIG MIKE
Yeah, I got it.

Patterson returns.

PATTERSON
Arrested seven times for
drug-related crimes and once for
unlawfully carrying a firearm. No
convictions on record. A speeding
ticket from fifteen years ago and
since then - nothing. He's clean.

BOB
I also represent Mr.Ness.

WRIGHT
We would like to speak with Mike in
person.

BOB
That's the reason I'm here. We'll
negotiate the terms for an arranged
surrender here in the station. I
want an assistant state attorney
present while you interview my
client. I assure you my client has
no idea why the two guys killed
these women and he's a victim as
they are.

WRIGHT
So, the two men worked for your
client, is that right?

BOB
Yes, they did odd jobs for him.

PATTERSON
What sort of jobs are we talking
about?

BOB
That is the reason why we need an
assistant state attorney who has
the power to grant my client
immunity for the things he will be
admitting to.

WRIGHT
Are we talking about his drug
business and the after-hours joint?
And how about those stolen cars? Is
that what we are talking about?
Bob gives each officer a short look.
3.

BOB
Let's say, hypothetically, you hit
all the points. Still, sir, we
would need the ASA to approve any
such deal.

WRIGHT
Look here, Mr.Attorney! We don't
give a shit about all that other
stuff your client and that moron of
a friend he has sitting over there,
are doing. You're wasting our time.
We're on a murder case and we're
looking for two murderers.

BOB
Yes, I understand your situation,
but I have a duty to my client to
protect him.

WRIGHT
Okay, you have him come in.

BOB
Do you all agree to have an ASA
present during the questioning of
my client?

WRIGHT
Give me a minute.

BOB
Can I go out as I need to make a
few phone calls? Meet back here in
fifteen minutes? Everyone agree?

Duplassis points her head to the door and Bob walks out.

CUT TO:

EXT. POLICE STATION

Bob picks his phone and calls Mike.

BIG MIKE
What's going on?

BOB
Listen, I'm talking to the
detectives right now. They know
about all of your business
ventures, the dope, the girls and
the after-hour joint, plus the
stolen cars. Good news is that
they're not interested in this,
they just want the two guys
responsible for the murders. Let me
talk a little longer and see what
(MORE)
4.

BOB (cont'd)
happens. Stay by your phone. I'll
call you back once I get a deal.

BIG MIKE
Okay, I'll be waiting.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - OFFICE

Bob returns and everyone takes a seat.

WRIGHT
The reality is that we don't know
how much or how deep your client is
involved in this case, and this is
the reason why we need to talk to
him. Your client knows these two
guys, and we think he may even know
where they are hiding. The bottom
line counselor is, he needs to turn
himself in, and now before someone
else gets hurt. You can be present
during any questioning, but we make
no promises beyond that.

Bob stands up from the chair.

BOB
No ASA, no immunity - no interview
with my client.

DUPLASSIS
We'll find him anyways and arrest
him. Public arrest won't be good
for his club, right?

Bob sits down and thinks for a moment.

BOB
You got a point.

CUT TO:

EXT. POLICE STATION

Bob calls Mike.

BIG MIKE
How is it going?

BOB
I have some bad news, Mike. You'll
need to come to the station and
turn in.
5.

BIG MIKE
What? I paid you fifteen grand,
Bob!

BOB
I know but they threaten to arrest
you publicly if you don't come on
your own. It's the better option in
this case, Mike.

BIG MIKE
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!!

BOB
Mike, calm down. Just park at the
back of the station and we'll meet
you at the back door. Nobody will
see you.

BIG MIKE
Fine! Fine! I'm coming!

Mike hangs up. Bob looks at his phone and shakes his head
before putting it in his pocket.

CUT TO:

EXT. POLICE STATION

At the back, Mike parks his car and walks to four detectives
and his lawyer. Bob steps forward.

BOB
Calm down and stick to the plan,
okay?

BIG MIKE
Yeah.

They get inside.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

The detectives carefully search Big Mike and once he's clean
they head to the interrogation room.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - INTERROGATION ROOM

Mike and Bob are sitting next to each other, facing the
detectives.
DUPLASSIS
What are Allen and Keith's real
names?
6.

Big Mike glances at Bob who nods in confirmation to answer

the question.

BIG MIKE
Roger Keith and Gregory Allen, but
people call them by their last
names.

DUPLASSIS
How old are they?

BIG MIKE
I believe they're in their late
thirties.

DUPLASSIS
Do you know if they have ever been
arrested?

BIG MIKE
Yes, they just got out of jail

Duplassis glances at Patterson who leaves the room.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - PATTERSON'S OFFICE

Officer Patterson quickly types in the names and finds out

the records of both guys. He prints them out and runs back
to the interrogation room.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - INTERROGATION ROOM

Patterson rushes in.

PATTERSON
We got them and you won't fucking
believe this!

All detectives turn towards him. He hands the files to

Duplassis and Wright.

Duplassis checks through the file of Keith.

DUPLASSIS
No fucking way!

WRIGHT
What?
DUPLASSIS
That motherfucker was locked up
downstairs two days ago.
7.

All detectives drop their jaws. Duplassis grabs Allen's file

from Wright's hand and rushes out the door.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - FRONT DESK

Duplassis rushes to Officer Wallace and shows her the files.

DUPLASSIS
Have you seen these men?

Wallace looks at the pictures.

WALLACE
Yes. This one here.

She points to Allen.

WALLACE
He gave me his phone number the
other day.

DUPLASSIS
Do you still have it!?

WALLACE
No, I returned it to him letting
him know that I'm in a
relationship.

Duplassis shakes her head in disappointment.

WALLACE
Who is he?

DUPLASSIS
One of the two guys we believe are
behind the murders of the
prostitutes.

WALLACE
That's them!?

DUPLASSIS
Yes. Do you see what you missed out
on playing hard to get?

Duplassis walks back upstairs.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - INTERROGATION ROOM

Duplassis walks back in. Detective Byrd is questioning Mike.

BYRD
What kind of car were they driving
last time you saw them?
8.

BIG MIKE
I believe it was a white Buick.

BYRD
Why were you meeting with them?

BIG MIKE
They called me and said they had
some problems with people, but they
did not say it was the police. They
told me they needed a few dollars
until Monday, and that was on
Friday.

BYRD
How much did you give them?

Mike stands up.

BIG MIKE
Let me make this clear! I loaned
them five hundred dollars. I didn't
give them shit! I gave them five,
one-hundred-dollar bills with the
understanding they were to pay me
back.

BYRD
Why hundred-dollar bills?

BIG MIKE
That's how I pay. It's easy to
count that way.

Bob lifts his eyebrow and looks at Mike. Duplassis notices

the eye exchange.

DUPLASSIS
Do you always pay your debts using
one-hundred-dollar bills?

BIG MIKE
Yes. Like I said, it makes counting
the money easy.

DUPLASSIS
Did they tell you where they were
going?

BIG MIKE
They said Gary,Indiana. I asked
them what the fuck was in Gary.
Allen said he had a girlfriend
there who would let them hang out
for a couple of days. That's what
they said, but you know how niggas
lie. They are probably in Detroit,
or who knows where.
9.

DUPLASSIS
Do you know the girlfriend's name?

BIG MIKE
No.

Mike looks at Bob.

BOB
Are we done here?

BYRD
No, we need a minute.

All detectives walk out of the room.

BIG MIKE
Are we good, Bob?

BOB
I don't know. Just shut up.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - INTERROGATION ROOM

Duplassis opens the door and sticks her head only.

DUPLASSIS
Mr. Cushman, can we talk for a
minute?

Bob glances at Mike and walks out of the room.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - IN FRONT OF THE INTERROGATION ROOM

All detectives are gathered there as Bob comes out of the

room and closes the door.

DUPLASSIS
We'll be holding your client and
Mr.Ness for a while.

BOB
No way! They're not charged!

DUPLASSIS
We know that.

WRIGHT
Let me remind that we have the
right to hold a suspect for
forty-eight hours without a charge.

BOB
Okay, can I have a word with my
client in private?
10.

DUPLASSIS
Of course. Take as long as you
need.

BOB
This is an interrogation room and
it's not exactly private. Can we go
somewhere else?

BYRD
Sure, come to my office.

Bob opens the door of the interrogation room.

BOB
(to Big Mike)
Mike, come.

Mike stands up and goes out of the room. Following Detective

Byrd, they go to his office.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - BYRD'S OFFICE

Byrd opens the door for them.

BYRD
Take as long as you need. Just
don't touch anything.

Bob nods and the detective closes the door from outside.

BIG MIKE
What's going on?

BOB
They'll hold you in custody for a
while.

BIG MIKE
What? How long?

BOB
By law they can hold you for
forty-eight hours. After that they
have to charge you or release you.
This is a good thing, Mike.

BIG MIKE
How the fuck is this a good thing?

BOB
They're not charging you straight
away. This speaks that they don't
have anything on you. Just keep
your mouth shut and it will be all
fine.
11.

BIG MIKE
Okay, can you call Betty and let
her know that everything is okay
and I'll be home shortly?

BOB
I'll tell her the truth, that we
won't know for at least forty-eight
hours. I'm going to talk with Ness,
you just be silent, okay?

BIG MIKE
Okay.

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

INT. POLICE STATION - BYRD'S OFFICE

Byrd is sitting behind the computer on his desk. Duplassis

and Wright enter Byrd's officer.

DUPLASSIS
What do you got?

BYRD
Take a look. The guys had a parole
officer named Mark Daniels. We got
his phone number.

WRIGHT
I'll get him right away.

Wright walks out of the room.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - BYRD'S OFFICE

Duplassis has taken the seat behind the computer and Byrd is
standing next to her. Wright walks back in.

WRIGHT
We got him and he gave us an
updated address for both men.

DUPLASSIS
Get him here. He should have more
info about that place.

WRIGHT
You want to raid the house?

DUPLASSIS
Fuck yeah I do! What if they're
hiding there?
12.

WRIGHT
I doubt it but okay.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION - DUPLASSIS' OFFICE

Mark DANIELS is sitting face to face with Duplassis and

Wright.

DUPLASSIS
What else do you know about the
place?

DANIELS
The owner has a contract with the
state. They pay him for managing a
property housing ex-cons.

WRIGHT
Do you know how many people live
there?

DANIELS
Last time they were twenty-four.

WRIGHT
I'll arrange everything. What was
the address again?

DANIELS
It's near 82 and Marquette.

Wright walks out of the office.

DUPLASSIS
Who's the owner of the place? We
need to talk to him first.

CUT TO:

EXT. NEAR 82 AND MARQUETTE

6AM, SUNDAY

The police and FBI have taken positions near the building.

Wright is in charge of the operation and picks his radio.

WRIGHT
Alright, men. This is it. Let's go!

All policemen rush towards the building. Those with cars

park outside quickly. The building is surrounded by officers
and they storm inside.

CUT TO:
13.

INT. 82 AND MARQUETTE HOUSE

TRUCK TO DUPLASSIS.

Duplassis enters first along with Wright and with several

officers following them. They're all constantly aiming,
ready to fire.

Duplassis turns to one of the flats on the floor and kicks

the door. Wright heads upstairs.

DUPLASSIS
Police! Nobody move!

Two men are sleeping on separate beds inside the flat. They
wake up and stand up from their beds.

DUPLASSIS
Get on the floor! Now!

Both start kneeling slowly.

DUPLASSIS
Let me see your hands!

They put their hands on the back of their heads. Two

officers come in and handcuff them.

CUT TO:

INT. 82 AND MARQUETTE HOUSE

Wright is on the second floor and spots a man coming out of

one of the flats there. The man has a gun in hand and Wright
shoots him in the chest without hesitation.

Wright rushes to the man and grabs his gun, before he can
use it.

Another man comes out of the same flat but unarmed.

WRIGHT
Get on the ground! On the fucking
ground, now!!!

The man obeys the order and Wright cuffs him. Meanwhile
other officers and FBI agents do the same with the rest of
the men in the flats.

CUT TO:

EXT. NEAR 82 AND MARQUETTE

Wright and Duplassis come out of the building while putting

their guns in the holsters.

Officers lead handcuffed men to the cars.

14.

WRIGHT
Well done, Frenchie.

DUPLASSIS
Finally a successful raid! Let's
see what these guys have to tell
us.

CUT TO:

INT. HYATT HOTEL - WALTER'S ROOM

Walter is lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He picks

his cellphone and calls his girlfriend.

WALTER
Hey, Pam! I've got us a room at the
Hyatt. Want to come?

PAM
Wow! Yes, of course!

WALTER
Bring in some clothes, we'll be
here for a couple of days.

PAM
Why? What are we doing there?

WALTER
You know they got room service. We
can eat, drink and watch movies.

PAM
Isn't that quite expensive?

WALTER
It's all on me, baby. Come over to
room 885.

PAM
Alright, I'm on my way. I love you!

WALTER
Love you too baby!

CUT TO:

INT. HYATT HOTEL - HALLWAY

Pam reaches Walter's room and knocks on the door. The

officer assigned to guard the room keeps a close eye on her.

Walter opens the door and Pam gets inside.

PAM
What's that cop doing here?
15.

WALTER
He said he's watching the room
across the hall.

PAM
Weird.

WALTER
I know, right? Wanna order some
food?

PAM
Fuck yeah, I'm starving!

Walter gets a menu from one of the shelves and hands it to

Pam.

WALTER
Here, choose your meal and press
one on the phone to reach the room
service.

TIME LAPSE.

Pam orders food, they eat, watch a movie and then have sex.

ROSLYN.

ALLEN
(to Keith)
Hey, check this out.

Keith turns his head to see the women.

KEITH
I don't know about you but I'm
going in!
Keith stands up, grabbing his drink.

ALLEN
Hell yeah, I'm in!
2.

Allen stands up and they both go to the ladies' table.

ALLEN
Hello, ladies!

Darlene and Roslyn look up to them. They smile.

DARLENE
Hi!

KEITH
What are two beautiful ladies like
you doing here alone?

ROSLYN
Having a drink? Cooling off.

ALLEN
Do you mind if we sit with you?
We're here alone as well.

The ladies look at each other.

DARLENE
No, not at all. Are you here for
the annual Blues Fest?

Keith and Allen glance at each other while taking their

seats.

KEITH
Yes, exactly. You're here for the
same show?

ROSLYN
Yup!

DARLENE
Do you guys have tickets?

ALLEN
Actually, no. Do you?

DARLENE
Yes, of course. They're pretty
expensive, though.

ALLEN
How much?

DARLENE
Hundred a piece. Ripped off my
pockets but it's worth it!
KEITH
Well, can I suggest something?

Roslyn and Darlene look at him with curiosity.

3.

KEITH
Let me buy your tickets.

DARLENE
And we'll miss the show.

ALLEN
Not if I get you new tickets.

Darlene and Roslyn look at each other again.

ROSLYN
Well, that's very kind of yours.

ALLEN
And maybe some drinks?

Allen glances at their glasses. The ladies also take a look

to find out they're empty.

ALLEN
What is your preffered choice?

DARLENE
Grey Goose.

ALLEN
Good one. I'll be right back.

Allen stands up and goes to the bar to get the drinks.

CUT TO:

INT. CROWN TOWER HOTEL - BAR

TIME LAPSE.

Allen and Keith spend the night with Darlene and Roslyn,
talking and laughing. The more they speak the closer they
become.

TIME CUT:

INT. CROWN TOWER HOTEL - ROOM 114

Allen and Keith get back in their rooms, a bit drunk.

ALLEN
I love these girls!

KEITH
They're so nice.

ALLEN
Darlene gave me her number.

Allen picks a piece of paper out of his pocket.

4.

ALLEN
I'll call her tomorrow for the
show.

KEITH
I want to fuck that bitch and slit
her throat!

ALLEN
Oh yeah!!

CUT TO:

Ready for the show!

KEITH
We've got the front rows.

ALLEN

They walk through the doors and head to the front row and

of the hotel at seven. Is it okay?

DARLENE
Yeah, perfect actually! See you
there.

Darlene and Roslyn leave.

KEITH
(to Allen)
Man that bitch is so sexy!

ALLEN
Roslyn?

KEITH
No, Darlene! I'll have to get some
duct tape.

CUT TO:

INT. RESTAURANT

THEY SPEAK.

Allen and Darlene are having dinner. Darlene is telling

Allen a story and they laugh.

CUT TO:

INT. RESTAURANT

CUT TO:

EXT. RESTAURANT

Allen and Darlene walk out of the restaurant and head back
to the hotel.

DARLENE
Sorry about that.

ALLEN
About what?

DARLENE
All the crying.
6.

ALLEN
Oh, no. Don't worry about it. I'm
really sorry to hear that your
husband left just like that. You're
a wonderful woman!

Darlene glances at him and smiles. She grabs his arm.

DARLENE
Thank you! You're a real nice guy.
There isn't much left like you
these days. Most men look just for
sex and that's it.

ALLEN
I can't even imagine how hard it
must be to take care of two
children alone.

CUT TO:

INT. CROWN TOWER HOTEL - LOBBY

Allen and Darlene stand in the lobby talking.

ALLEN
You know... I don't want to sound
like one of those assholes but...

DARLENE
But?

ALLEN
Well, I really like you. Do you
want to come up in my room?

DARLENE
Look, I like you too but I think
it's a bit early for this.

Allen gets closer to her.

ALLEN
I don't know... I really, really
like you.

He tries to kiss her but Darlene steps back.

DARLENE
I mean it, Allen. It's a bit too
early.

ALLEN
Okay, I'm sorry.
The receptionist hears them and smiles while looking down,
pretending to be doing something.
7.

DARLENE
We're leaving tomorrow. I'm going
back to Chicago. I would love it if
you call me once you get back.

ALLEN
Definitely! Take care, Darlene.

Darlene steps forward to the elevator that just arrived and

a couple comes off it. She presses her floor and the
elevator doors close.

CUT TO:

INT. CROWN TOWER HOTEL - ROOM 114

Allen and Keith are arguing.

ALLEN
Look, she just has trust issues and
needs more time!

KEITH
What do you mean she needs more
time? God damn it, Greg, you're
modern day Casanova! Get that bitch
here or let's go to their room and
fucking rape them!

ALLEN
Roger, calm the fuck down! I want
to fuck her too but I'm not sure I
want to kill her.

KEITH
What? You met a lonely mother of
two and got soft? What will her
children do without a mommy!?

ALLEN
It's not that!

KEITH
Then what is it?

Allen takes a moment.

ALLEN
I think I really like her. She's
not like those whore that sell
their bodies and get high. She's...
She's a nice woman.

KEITH
Oh, come on! Stop bullshitting me
brother! We'll go tomorrow morning
to their room, rape them and leave
them for the maids to take care of
their dead bodies!
8.

ALLEN
Fine!

CUT TO:

INT. CROWN TOWER HOTEL

Allen and Keith are standing in front of room 236. Keith

knocks on the door but nobody opens it.

Allen tries to open the door but it's locked.

breakfast before they leave. Maybe
they're in the restaurant.

KEITH
Let's go.

CUT TO:

KEITH
Good morning, ladies!

ALLEN
Mind if we have breakfast with you?

DARLENE
No, come take a seat. We'll be
going in a few minutes, though.

KEITH
You're leaving?

DARLENE
Yup. Break is over. Time to head
back to Chicago and go to work.

ALLEN
Sadly.

DARLENE
Yeah... Well, if you call us we can
see each other back at Chicago.
9.

KEITH
Definitely!

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

EXT. GAS STATION, MARYVILLE

Allen is sitting in the car while Keith pays for the gas
they just got. The car is now a Ford Taurus, one that they
stole from the parking lot of the hotel.

Keith rushes to the car, carrying a newspaper. He makes hand

gestures to Allen to start the engine and go.

Keith reaches the car and gets inside.

KEITH
Go! Go!

Allen starts the engine.

ALLEN
What's going on?

Keith shows him the front page of the newspaper. Allen sees
photos of both of them.

ALLEN
Holy shit!

He drives off the gas station in a rush.

CUT TO:

INT. IN THE FORD

ALLEN
Try to call Mike.

Keith picks out the phone Big Mike gave them and dials up
the number. The voice mail turns on after a few empty
signals.

KEITH
He doesn't pick up.

ALLEN
Shit! Okay, try Ness.

Keith tries to call Ness and same thing happens.

KEITH
Same shit.
10.

ALLEN
They must be both in jail. Fuck!

They remain silent for a moment.

ALLEN
We have to go back to Chicago.

KEITH
Are you insane!?

ALLEN
I want to get Darlene.

KEITH
Damn, you've lost your mind on that
bitch!

ALLEN
Fuck you man!

CUT TO:

EXT. AREA SOUTH POLICE STATION, CHICAGO

Bob and Big Mike walk out of the station.

BOB
Told you it will be all good, Mike.

BIG MIKE
You've earned those fifteen grand,
Bob. What about Ness?

BOB
They released him yesterday. They
got nothing against both of you.

BIG MIKE
Perfect. I'll be in touch if
something happens again.

BOB
Take care, Mike.

They split ways and Mike goes to his car. He gets inside and
picks his phone, calling Betty.

BIG MIKE
Hey, baby! I'm finally out.

BLACK BETTY
Can I come home now?
BIG MIKE
No, sugar. Stay at your mom's in
Detroit until those fuckers are
behind bars and all this shit is
over.
11.

BLACK BETTY
But I miss you big pappa.

BIG MIKE
I miss you too but it's better that
way. It's safer for you honey.

BLACK BETTY
Ugh.. Okay.

BIG MIKE
I'll call you later.

Mike hangs up and dials Allen's number.

CUT TO:

INT. IN THE FORD

The phone rings and Allen looks at Keith, who's looking down
at the phone.

KEITH
It's Mike.

Allen suddenly looks relieved.

ALLEN
Give me the phone.

Allen gets the phone from Keith and picks up.

ALLEN
Mike!

BIG MIKE
Allen. I've been locked up for two
days because of your shit. The
whole city of Chicago is on a
manhunt for you too. They even got
rewards for anyone who can find
your asses - dead or alive!

ALLEN
What did you tell them, Mike?

BIG MIKE
Nothing. My lawyer got me out but
as I said the whole city is after
you. Get your asses somewhere
hidden.

ALLEN
What about the money we owe you?
BIG MIKE
Forget about it. Go find a safe
place and don't show your faces too
(MORE)
12.

BIG MIKE (cont'd)

much. Most importantly, NEVER
contact me again! NEVER!

Big Mike hangs up. Allen looks at Keith.

KEITH
What is it?

ALLEN
The whole city is after us. Mike
thinks there's a reward for our
heads.

KEITH
Fuck! Do you think that's true?

ALLEN
I really don't know.

They look ahead while Allen is driving. They're already a

couple of miles away from the town. Keith points to the side
of the road.

KEITH
Wait! Look!

Allen slows down and looks at the direction Keith is

pointing. There's an old house that looks abandoned.

ALLEN
Maybe we can stay there for a while
if nobody's home.

KEITH
If there's someone home we'll send
him to heaven brother. Come on!

Allen takes a turn on the dirt road and they stop in front
of the house. They get off the car.

CUT TO:

EXT. ABANDONED HOUSE

Allen steps forward to the window and peaks inside.

ALLEN
Looks abandoned.

KEITH
I'll get the car behind the house.

ALLEN
Good idea.

Keith gets in the car and drives it around the house and
parks in the rear.
13.

Allen gets inside meanwhile.

CUT TO:

INT. ABANDONED HOUSE

Allen tries the light switch and it works. The house has
electricity and it looks like it was abandoned not long ago.
There's still some furniture left inside.

Keith comes in through the back door.

KEITH
Looks good.

ALLEN
It got electricity too.

KEITH
Let's wait for sunset and we can go
grab something to eat.

ALLEN
Man, how did we come to this
shit... Hiding like some rats.

KEITH
It'll be all fine dude. Don't
worry. We're not going back to
jail!

ALLEN
Hell no!

CUT TO:

INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

Darlene sits on the couch in her living room and watches the
news. She also has several newspapers spread on the table in
front of her.

The hotline for Allen and Keith is displayed on the TV.

Darlene writes it down and calls it. She leaves her name and
number to the officer who picked the phone and he tells her
she'll get a call back.

DARLENE
Yes, Darlene Lewis. Yes, sir, this
number I'm calling from... Okay.
Thank you!

She hangs up and starts crying.

CUT TO:

INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

The next morning Darlene picks her newspaper and sees the
photos of Allen and Keith on the front page with a huge
title "PSYCHOPATHIC KILLERS ON THE LOOSE".

Her phone rings at this time. She rushes to it and picks up.

DARLENE
Hello?

DUPLASSIS
Detective Felicia Duplassis. Did
you call about the killers?

DARLENE
Ye-Yes, I did.

Darlene breaks down and starts crying.

DUPLASSIS
Ma'am, are you okay?

DARLENE
I-I met them... I met them the-the
other night.

DUPLASSIS
Where are you now ma'am?

DARLENE
Home...

DUPLASSIS
And where is that?

DARLENE
8710 Won-Wonderland...

DUPLASSIS
We're coming.

Darlene puts down the phone and lies down on the couch,
crying.

CUT TO:

EXT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

Duplassis and Wright are at the front door and ring the
doorbell. Darlene opens the door halfway.

Wright shows his badge.

DUPLASSIS
Detective Duplassis. This is
detective Wright. We spoke thirty
minutes ago.
15.

Darlene opens the door wide and steps aside, inviting the
detectives inside.

DARLENE
Please, come in.

CUT TO:

INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

The detectives and Darlene are already sitting. Darlene has

told her story.

WRIGHT
I don't know what else to say, you
were damn lucky Ms. Lewis!

DUPLASSIS
Do you think Allen might try to
call you?

DARLENE
I hope not.

DUPLASSIS
Look, I understand how you feel but
if he calls you, you need to take
that call. It might be our only
chance to get them.

DARLENE
I see...

DUPLASSIS
Tell him you don't believe the
stories in the news and want to be
with him. Did you tell him anything
about your family?

DARLENE
Only about my daughters.

DUPLASSIS
Good. Then tell him that your
brother is a good lawyer and he'll
be able to get him out of this
mess.

DARLENE
Okay. I'll try.

DUPLASSIS
One more thing. Does he know where
you live?
DARLENE
Yes. I told him.
16.

WRIGHT
This could be a problem. We have to
put a team on your house just in
case he decides to come by.

Darlene starts crying again.

DUPLASSIS
Ms. Lewis, please, calm down. It
will be all fine. There will be a
police officer with you everywhere
until we catch the killers. You're
safe with us.

WRIGHT
We'll set up a surveillance unit to
watch your house. Also, we'll set
up a device connected to your
phone, so we can track them down if
they call you. If this happens,
press the red button that will be
placed next to your phone and we'll
know what's going on.

DARLENE
O-Okay...

INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

Darlene is washing the dishes when the phone rings. She

freezes in fear for a moment.

Darlene slowly steps to the phone and hesitates if she

should pick up. She does.

DARLENE
Hello?

ALLEN
Hey, Darlene! It's Allen.

DARLENE
Oh, hi!

ALLEN
I believe you saw the news. Let me
explain. I'm not a killer, Darlene.

DARLENE
That's what I thought but why is
this everywhere on the news?

Darlene presses the red button next to the phone.

ALLEN
Keith is my cousin and he's sick...
Sick in the head, Darlene. I'm
trying to help him.

DARLENE
I knew you're not a killer. You
can't be... You're such a nice man.

CUT TO:

INT. SURVEILLANCE VAN

Two officers are sitting in the van, drinking coffee and

eating donuts when the screen flashes.

One of them leaves the coffee and drops the donut, rushing
to the computer.

OFFICER
We got him!

The other officer contacts the detectives on the radio.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

Duplassis and Wright receive the call from the officer.

DUPLASSIS
We got them now!
2.

WRIGHT
(on the radio)
Track them down ASAP!

CUT TO:

INT. SURVEILLANCE VAN

The technician officer manages to track the location of the

call.

OFFICER
They're on 87th and Ashland. It
looks like... It looks like they're
headed our way.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE STATION

WRIGHT
(on the radio)
All teams be ready! If they show up
let them get inside first and then
we cuff them!

CUT TO:

INT. ALLEN'S CAR

Allen is driving while talking. He's wearing a wig and a

hat, looking like an old lady at first look.

CUT TO:

INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

Darlene's cell phone rings but it's set on silent. It's

Duplassis.

Darlene plugs an earphone set into the cell and puts one
earphone in her ear. She picks up.

DUPLASSIS
Put the phone on loudspeaker so we
can hear the conversation.

Darlene does what the detective tells her.

ALLEN
I don't know where to go, Darlene.

DUPLASSIS
(to Darlene)
Tell him he can stay at your place
and get Keith if he needs to.
3.

DARLENE
(to Allen)
You can stay at my place, Allen.

DUPLASSIS
(to Darlene)
Tell him you miss him.

DARLENE
(to Allen)
I miss you, Allen... Your cousin
can stay here too if he has nowhere
to go.

ALLEN
I can't risk it, Darlene. Can you
come to me instead? The police
might be watching your house. Hold
on a moment...

CUT TO:

INT. ALLEN'S CAR

Allen puts the call on hold and grabs the burner phone, on
which Keith is calling him.

ALLEN
Yes?

KEITH
Fuck that bitch, Allen! The cops
are at her place, I'm sure about
it!

ALLEN
I'm not leaving her, Roger!

KEITH
Dude, let's go now!

ALLEN
Look, I don't know why but I want
her real bad. We're going to get
her first.

KEITH
Look, pull over and we'll talk.

Allen pulls over and in a minute another car pulls behind

him. It's Keith who's driving a stolen car and also wears a
wig, looking like an old lady.

Both get out of the cars.

KEITH
Let her go, man. You'll get us
behind bars because of that bitch!
4.

ALLEN
I'm not leaving without her! You
go, I'll catch up.

KEITH
Hell no! I'm not leaving without
you. You know the police is
probably waiting on us to show up
and out of nowhere they'll jump out
and start shooting at us.

Allen remains silent while Keith is looking around.

KEITH
I've got an idea!

He points towards a woman with a baby, who's putting the

child at the back seat of her family van.

KEITH
Why don't we grab the lady and the
kid and go get your bitch?

ALLEN
What? Why?

KEITH
If the cops show up they can't be
shooting at us because of the bitch
and the baby.

ALLEN
That's brilliant! Let's do it.

Allen gets back in his car and drives over to the woman. She
glances at him and thinking it's just an old lady who's a
bad driver, continues to tying her baby at the seat.

Keith pushes her inside the car with a gun pointing at her
head.

KEITH
I'll kill you if you make a sound!

WOMAN
Please... Don't hurt my baby!

Allen parks his car in front of the lady's van and gets
inside at the back seat. He carries his phone in hand. Keith
forces the lady to take the wheel.

CUT TO:

INT. THE VAN

Keith passes the gun to Allen.
5.

KEITH
Man, grab the baby and point this
shit to that bitch. She'll drive to
Darlene's house. I'll follow you at
a short distance and if everything
goes as planned, we let her and the
baby go and you have your sweet
Darlene.

ALLEN
Sounds good.

Keith closes the van door and goes back to his car. The
woman drives off.

Allen resumes the call with Darlene.

ALLEN
Darlene?

DARLENE
Yes?

ALLEN
Listen, a blue van will be pulling
up to your house in the next few
minutes. You can come out and take
the front seat next to the lady.

DARLENE
What lady? Where are you?

CUT TO:

INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

ALLEN
I'm in the back with the baby.

DARLENE
(to Allen)
What baby, Allen? Who is this
woman?

DUPLASSIS
(to Darlene)
Don't leave the house, no matter
what! We're on our way.

DARLENE
(to Allen)
You're not going to hurt the baby,
are you?
ALLEN
Don't worry about that. Just come
out and get in the van.

Allen hangs up.

DARLENE
What should I do?

DUPLASSIS
Wait.

The phone rings. Allen is calling again.

Darlene puts on the earphones again and picks up.

DARLENE
(to Allen)
Yes?

ALLEN
I'm in front. Come down.

DARLENE
Just a minute, Allen. I'm getting
ready.

ALLEN
Hurry up.

CUT TO:

INT. POLICE CAR

Duplassis and Wright are on their way to the house, almost

there. Wright uses the radio.

WRIGHT

This is unplanned situation. We
have two civilians, a mother and
her baby.

CUT TO:
INT. DARLENE'S HOUSE

ALLEN
Darlene, come down now or something
bad is about to happen!
7.

DARLENE
(to Allen)
I'm coming, Allen. Please, don't do
anything stupid. Don't hurt that
baby or the lady. I'm coming.

ALLEN
You have one minute.

Allen hangs up.

DUPLASSIS
(to Darlene)
Ms. Lewis do NOT go out of the
house!

DARLENE
(to the detective)
If I don't he is going to hurt the
baby. I can't allow this!

Darlene hangs up.

CUT TO:

EXT. DOWN THE STREET

Duplassis and Wright have reached the street with their

unmarked car.

DUPLASSIS
Pull over.

WRIGHT
What are you going to do?

DUPLASSIS
Pull the fuck over, Richie!!

Wright pulls over and Duplassis comes out of the car.

She starts walking down towards the house, holding her Colt
.45 automatic pistol near her side. She tries her best to
pretend she's just a random person passing by.

As she gets closer she sees Darlene coming out of the front
door. Taking a look at the van, Duplassis can see the
outline of Allen at the back seat.

Duplassis lifts her gun and aims.

CUT TO:

INT. THE VAN

Five shots are heard and Allen's head is penetrated by a
bullet.

WRIGHT
Get the fuck back in the house!!!

Darlene runs back into her house.

INT. KEITH'S CAR

Keith is in the middle of the street and sees the scene.

KEITH
Fuck! No! Greg!!

Keith pulls out a gun.

KEITH
You fucking pigs!

He starts firing at the detectives through the front window

of his car. The window cracks and he can't see what's going
on.

Keith stops the car and comes out of it.

CUT TO:

EXT. DOWN THE STREET

At the same time, officers Eugene and Kenneth turn around

the corner. They see Keith shooting at the detectives.

Without hesitation, Eugene who's driving the car, steps on

the gas and knocks Keith on the ground.

Keith, still down, keeps on firing.

Wright helps the woman and the baby come out of the car
while Duplassis starts gets a clear sight at Keith and
starts shooting at him.

She hits him two times in the chest while walking in his
direction. Keith keeps on firing at random directions.

Duplassis aims better and takes one more shot. This time the
bullet hits Keith's head.

CUT TO:
9.

INT. THE VAN

The woman is untying her baby.

WOMAN
Oh my God! She's covered in blood!
Oh, God! Is she alright!?

WRIGHT
Please, let me take a look.

Wright uses his shirt to wipe off the blood from the baby
and can't find any wounds.

WRIGHT
She's fine. The blood is of the
suspect.

WOMAN
Oh my God! Thank you! Thank you
officer!

Wright glances at Kenneth who steps forward.

KENNETH
Ma'am, come on. Let's take you
somewhere safe.

Duplassis returns to the van, putting her gun in the

holster.

WRIGHT
Well, good job!

DUPLASSIS
Good indeed. The motherfuckers are
dead! Oh, shit!

WRIGHT
What?

DUPLASSIS
Ms. Lewis! Where is she?

She got back inside the house.

Duplassis turns around and takes a quick step to the house.

DARLENE
Are they? Are you sure?

DUPLASSIS
I made sure with five bullets on
each. They're dead.

DARLENE
Oh, thank God!

DUPLASSIS
Ms. Lewis you were very, very
brave! The Chicago Police
Department owes you forever!

Darlene just nods and tries to wipe her tears.

DUPLASSIS
I'm personally very thankful for
your assistance and bravery!
Without you these men would be
killing innocent women for several
more weeks, if not months. The city
of Chicago is safer thanks to you!

FADE TO BLACK

FADE IN:

EXT. POLICE DEPARTMENT

The detectives are gathered in front of the station. News

reporters surround them, waiting for the ceremony.

Detective Wright walks to the microphone.

WRIGHT
I would like to first thank these
officers standing here next to me,
who worked around the clock to
bring these deadly killers to an
end tonight. Both men, rather than
give up, fought a deadly gun battle
with our officers and, of course,
they lost.

The reporters laugh quietly on the last part.

WRIGHT
Both men were killed in the
exchange of gunfire in the streets.
Thank God, none of our guys were
injured. I want to give a special
thanks to detective Felicia
(MORE)
11.

WRIGHT (cont'd)
Duplassis for her bravery tonight.
Her display of courage went above
and beyond the call of duty.
Detective, come to the microphone.

Duplassis steps forward and shakes hands with Wright before

speaking on the mic.

DUPLASSIS
First, I would like to thank my
teammates. Without them I could not
have been able to do what I did
that night. I want to thank Ms.
Darlene Lewis as she's a real hero,
risking her own life to save an
innocent mother and her child.
Gratitude to everyone who also put
themselves at risk, giving us
information that helped to bring
these psychopaths to justice. Thank
you all!

Duplassis walks away and gets inside the station.

CUT TO:

INT. HYATT HOTEL - WALTER'S ROOM

Detective Duplassis!

DUPLASSIS
How do you know it's me?

WALTER
I just watched you live on TV. I
had a feeling. Thank you and the
rest of the detectives for solving
my cousin Sandra's death.

DUPLASSIS
It's a pleasure. Now, Walter, since
it's all done you should be leaving
the hotel.

WALTER
Yes, ma'am. Right away!

Duplassis hangs up and Walter puts down the phone.

WALTER
(to Pam)
Baby, pack you things! We're
leaving!

Hi, Bob!

I just want you to know that your
clients are no longer suspects of
the murders.

BOB
Good. I was trying to show you this
from the very beginning.

DUPLASSIS
However...

BOB
However what?

DUPLASSIS
We found over a thousand dollars in
the murderers. Guess how they
looked.

BOB
No.

DUPLASSIS
Yes, Bob. One-hundred-dollar bills.
Now, what do you think about that?

BOB
I think I'll be getting more money
from my client.

DUPLASSIS
Smart man.

Duplassis hangs up. Bob leaves the phone and stares at his
desk.

BOB
Fucking idiot!
