ASL Dictionary

This website is designed by Dr. Bill Vicar, ASL Professor at California State University, Sacramento. I
picked this rather than another website, Handspeak.com. It is a good resource called the ASL University
for all ASL level students and teachers. It has all kind of categories for students and teachers to search
for like a dictionary, fingerspelling practice, jokes, and many more. They can find the right sign for a
word. S/he can go inside the webpage, and pick the specific letter on the dictionary, then the next page
displays list of words on left navigation. For example, if someone were to pick the word “garage”, the
next page would display the definition, picturesque and edited video of a garage sign. You also will see
the definition of that sign’s handshape parameters along with the person signing either or both in
picture and video. Another nice category, fingerspelling is the best tool for students to practice so that
they use their receptive skills and score better on the fingerspelling test. For the joke category, students
can take advantage to share the jokes with family and friends after reading.
ASL Sign Language Forum

This is used for ASL high school students to enjoy this fun activity by creating a fingerspelling word
search puzzle for free. This website is used to create crossword puzzles using the ASL letters for holidays
and events such as Black History Month or St. Patrick’s Day. Also, it is a good practice tool for them to
read fingerspelling. Example words for St. Patrick’s Day include shamrock, Irish, elf, pot of gold, etc. You
create 5 or 9 words into a list of on ASL Fingerspelling Puzzle webpage and then it will come up in a
created puzzle. You print and pass papers to students for a relaxing, fun, and interactive 20 minutes of
class time. Another fun activity is the word game called Fingerspelling Challenge Word game, where you
can use your receptive skills when you see and answer a fingerspelled word, score points and place your
name on the board around the nation for those who play in that ABC Fingerspelling Puzzle’s website.
Last you can join in ASL Forum where you can discuss, ask questions, learn, share and gather feedbacks
from other students all over the places.

Quizlet

It is a great tool for all ASL students to practice with all kind of categories like classifiers, word guess, and
sign guessing. The class can log into their account on the phone or iPad and connect to the created room
by the teacher. Students answer the question correctly, and will see their points on the board. The score
will be displayed as ranked and it is good for 20 minutes and practice tool in order to prepare for the
exam. Before the students log in, you need to create the lesson for them to practice at the end of the
week. They will become accustomed after learning the lesson in that week.
