Technology: A blessing or a curse?

A numerous study about technology have demonstrated the great effect of it in our everyday
lives. We are now living in a digital world where everything around us happen in a snap. It is
difficult to imagine that before, people needed to walk miles to reach their desire destination; to
ask how your friend is doing, you need to write a letter, look for a post office and wait for days
or weeks to get a respond and imagine how difficult it is for mothers to finish household chores
in a day without using washing machine, stove etc. Today, people especially children do not
experience these things. Thanks to modern technology, a lot of burden has been lifted up and we
have more time and energy to do other things that we need to do.
Technology has great contribution in the growth and development of people and the world.
Technological inventions have made living convenient. Connecting with people in different parts
of the world, travelling long distance, having constant sources of entertainment and ease of
cooking and storing food are some of the best things technology has offered us. Even in
education, technology has made a great contribution to students as well as with the teachers.
Presentation of information is more accessible and more convenient today. In addition, people
continue to search and experiment to come up with better inventions. In line with these
advantages, we could say that technology is a blessing for us.
In contrary, other people find technology as a curse because of the effect it brought to our society
and to the people. Many studies showed that people talk less with their family members and
friends because of their engagement to different devices. When it comes to education, students
become dependent to what they can see online and do not exert effort to come up with answers
and projects out of their own effort. Before, children played outside their house and experienced
physical games with their friends, but nowadays, they prefer to use their laptop and phones, and
play with their virtual friends. Moreover, their health is also suffering. They easily get problems
in vision, cancer and obesity, etc.
Lastly, technology is a great cause of air and water pollution that affects not only the people but
also our surroundings.
As a conclusion, technology is a blessing and a curse at the same time. The impacts of
technology in our lives can be positive or negative. We need to accept technology but we should
not let it control our lives.
