Experiment 1: Connection and Starting

This experiment to identify connections of motor and operate the shunt-wound motor and
measure the armature voltage and current.

The value of armature current for brake mode : Torque Control

Ia = 0.52 A

Voltage = 227.7 V
From this experiment we measured armature current and armature voltage under load by
using value maximum starting point given. Results are shown as below :

M/Nm n/(1/min) I/A U/V

0.2 1760 0.56 206.8
0.4 1730 0.60 206.2
0.6 1590 0.78 200.7

Experiment 2: Rotation Reversal

In this experiment we use two different circuit diagram. The result of the observation shown
below.

Clockwise Anti-clockwise

Changing winding resulting reverse polarity.

Experiment 3: Speed Control

From this experiment we testing the armature voltage in 3 stages via adjustable DC power
supply 220 V, 190 V and 160 V. Result for determining operation points are shown in the
graph below:

Ua/V n/(1/min) Ia/A

220 V 1920 0A
190 V 1580 0A
160 V 1260 0A

220 V

190 V

160 V
The graph shown that when the voltage become lower, the torque also become lower
while the current also become decreases.

Control speed by using formula:

Experiment 4 : Load Characteristics

Rf/Ω n/(1min) If/mA

0 1290 0.30
1100 1490 0.03
1980 1690 0.05

Rf/Ω Results

1100

1980
From the graph above it shown that when the field resistance increases, the torque are
increases while the current are not stable. The current from 0Ω to 1100Ω are decreases while
from 1100Ω to 1980Ω it become increases. Based on the calculation, the result of current
should become decreases.
Placeholder for graph Efficiency

Based on the results, the graph of speed become decreases while the current and power
become increases. It is also shown that the efficiency of this experiment are higher.
