SUMMARY ON ADVANTAGES OF ROOT CULTURE METHOD OF

ANDROGRAPHIS PANICULATA
Root culture method is production of roots without the formation of whole
plant using limited supply of mother plant. This technique with the use of some
growth hormones will give us surplus amount of roots in dependent of climate
changes or seasonal changes. Hairy root culture technology is a more ideal way
to get a effective yield of products. There are many advantages of this root
culture method of Andrographis Paniculata.
One of the advantage of using root culture is they grow rapidly. Plants in this
culture method differentiate in a high rate, where we get more yield in a
shorter time range. These roots culture highly branched on phytohormone free
medium. Any of various hormones produced by plants that control or regulate
germination, growth, metabolism, or other physiological activities, is called
phytohormones.
Other than that, root culture method is relatively easy to prepare and
maintain. It is because the initiation and maintenance of this method is very
practical and easy for us to do.
Thus, this method show a low level of variability and can be easily cloned to
produce a large supply of experimental tissue. Variability is lack of consistency
in the yield of products.
Therefore, the roots culture system is genetically and biosynthetically very
stable. Root culture exhibits a high degree of chromosomal stability over
prolonged culture period. And it is also has a high production secondary
metabolites. This secondary metabolites are potentially important
pharmaceutical products.
In conclusion, there are many advantages of root culture method in
Andrographis paniculate plant, where all are very important for production of
pharmaceutical products and their respective industries.
