Grade Level:
DLP No. 28 Learning Area: Earth and Life Science Quarter: 1st Duration: 1hour
11/12
Learning Competency: Describe how marker fossils( also known as guide fossils) are Code:
used to define and identify subdivisions of the geologic time S11/12ES-Ie-28
Key Concepts/ Guide fossils are used to define and identify the subdivisions of the geologic time scale
Understanding to be
Developed:
Knowledg Describe the guide fossils in different geologic time scale
e
Skills Construct a timeline about the guide fossils or marker fossils
1. OBJECTIVES
Attitudes Demonstrate critical thinking to the use of guide fossils on the
subdivisions of the of the geologic time scale
Values Aid protection of the environment of the different fossils
History of the Earth

3. LEARNING You and the Natural World Earth and Life Science, by Lina G. Vengco and Teresita F.
MATERIALS Religioso, pp.28-31
/RESOURCES: Power point presentation, Video clips, Pictures

4. PROCEDURES
4.1 Introductory Activity The teacher will post jumbled letter words on the board related to the topic.
The teacher will ask each table/column to rejumble the letters to form a word.
1. EGDUI = GUIDE
2. SILOFS = FOSSIL
3. LOGECIOG = GEOLOGIC
4. MIET = TIME
5. LCEAS =SCALE
Ask the students to go to their previously assigned group and discuss the following
questions given
1. How did you find the activity?
2. How did the scientists define and identify the subdivisions of the geologic time
scale?
3. How can we interpret the Earth’s history based on a geologic time scale?
4.3 Analysis The group will assign a reporter to report what they has been discussed in their group.
4.4 Abstraction The teacher will discuss using powerpoint presentation and picture presentation
4.8 Concluding Activity “Fossils work almost the same way as photography as a recording of history. The
accumulation of time and history becomes a negative of the image. And this negative
comes off, and the fossil is the positive side. This is the same as the action of
photography.” – Hiroshi Sugimoto
5. REMARKS Indicate below special cases including but not limited to continuation of lesson plan to
the following day in case of re-teaching or lack of time, transfer of lesson to the
following day, in cases of classes suspension, etc.
6. REFLECTIONS Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your student’s
progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to help the students learn?
Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet
them, you can ask them relevant questions. Indicate below whichever is/are appropriate.
