Research question:
Which antiseptic or soap has the greatest ability to inhibit the growth of
common microorganisms?
Variables
Independent variable: the type of chemical substance used, the place where the
sample is taken

Dependent variable: the number and type of microbe colonies

Controlled variables: the amount and concentration of the antiseptic/soap

Method:
Four different surfaces were chosen from the school, a dining table, a desk, computer screen and a toilet cover

1. To avoid contamination, the growth medium (slide) should not come into contact with any other material
2. Unscrew the slide from the tube
3. Press each of the slides firmly against the sample surface for four seconds
4. Screw the slide tightly back into the tube
5. Incubate the slides at room temperature (22)
6. After five days, remove the slide from its tube and count the number of colonies present on the slides
7. Compare the number of colonies with the model density chart
8. Apply antiseptic/soap to the same surface and repeat steps 1-7
9. The same method can be used for both Hygicult TPC and Hygicult F & Y
Test tubes
Hygicult TPC Hygicult Y&C
