HERNIA TREATMENT

• Herniotomy: Trans fixation and ligation of sac. Used for indirect inguinal hernia. Used in
infants and adolescents.

• Herniorapphy: Herniotomy and strengthening

of posterior abdominal wall either by a sutured repair or by mesh.

B. Lytle's Repair by

narrowing deep ring with 2' O prolene.

1. Modified Basini Repair

2. Conjoint tendon approximated

with inguinal ligament by 1' polypropelene material.

1. Shouldice Repair → Upper & Lower leaf of Fascia transversals overlapped & sutured by
double breasting fashion.

2. Maloney Darn Repair → Posterior abdominal wall repaired by monofilament nylon in


crisscross fashion. Best where mesh is too expensive.
