Simulation

Simulation is a process of designing an operational model of a system and


conducting experiments with this model for the purpose either of understanding the behavior
of the system or of evaluating alternative strategies for the development or operation of the
system.
Simulation is normally used to assess the current, or predict the future, performance
of a business process. The concept is designed to help practitioners and business owners
discover new ways to improve their business processes through the use of mathematical,
statistical and other analytical methods.

Importance of Simulation

Simulation has been used across all business sectors, including manufacturing, retail,
pharmaceutical, banking, government, military and education. It has also proved successful
and well-suited for use in transactional environments.
The building sector consumes over 30% of worldwide energy used to heat, cool, light
and ventilate buildings. Simplified methods such as steady-state and steady-cyclic
calculations are not sufficient to faithfully represent the complex flow paths that occur in real
buildings. Simulation is a more accurate tool to reflect dynamic systems, as it is an attempt to
emulate the reality. It allows users to understand the interrelation between design and
performance parameters, to identify potential problem areas, and so implement and test
appropriate design modifications. By enabling the assessment of different scenarios, it is a
powerful tool for appraising options, and as a result the final design is more energy conscious
with better comfort levels and air quality attained throughout. In order to understand how
simulation can be effectively implemented into companies, our group looked at the present
situation in the construction industry and the emerging market requirements.

Aspen HYSYS (HYSYS for short, a portmanteau from Hygrotech and Systems) is the
one of the top leading Chemical Process Simulator in the market (or at least in the Chemical
Engineering World)

HYSYS is used extensively in industry due to its steady-state and dynamic simulation,
process design, performance modelling, and optimization.

HYSYS is a software that will allow the user to build a process model and then simulate it
using complex calculations (models, equations, math calculations, regressions, etc.)

CADSIM Plus is chemical process simulation software that can perform mass and
energy balances and simulate dynamic conditions. It is a first-principles dynamic chemical

Fortum. Since 1986, Apros has been used for the simulation of thermal and nuclear power
plants. Moreover, Apros has been used to simulate, for instance, pulp and paper production,
desalination plants, solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems, district heating and cooling
networks, concentrating solar power (CSP) plants, molten salt heat storage and transfer, and
