1. QUANTIFIERS “A LOT OF” “ A LOTS OF”

A. CONCEPT
 “A LOT OF” and “A LOTS OF” have the some meaning: they beth mean
a large amount or number of people or things.
 We use a “ a lot of” with countable nouns to talk about large quantities.
 We use “ a lots of” with uncontable nouns to talk about large
quantities.

B. EXAMPLE

 There was a lot of rubbish on the streets afther the party


 We have lots of great shops in my meigh bourhood.
 I have lots of clothes I don’t wear.
 A lot of people went to the game

2. QUANTIFERS: PLENTY OF

A. CONCEPT
We use “PLENTY OF” of as quantifier before bath countable and incountable nouns to
mean “a lot” “ a large quantity”
Traduction: “ de sobra y bastante”

B. EXAMPLE

 Toledo has plenty of outdoor space


 I have got plenty of time
 We have plenty of time
3. QUANTIFIES, AFEW, A LITTLE

A. CONCEPT
We use ”A FEW” and a “little” to talk about small quantitles. We use a
with plural countable nouns and “a little” with Uncountable mouns:

 There was a little rubbish left in the bir
 The shop had a few things that I liked

4. QUANTIFIES: MANY, MUCH COUNTABLE AND UNCOUNTABLE MOUNS

A. CONCEPT
Im more formal English, we use “many+ plural moun”
To talk about large quantities in countable nouns
 There are many interesting places to visit in the city
We also use many and much in question
Are there many good she where you live?
 Do you have much free time?
We use not much and not many to talk about small quantities.
We use not much with uncountable mouns and not many with
plural countable mouns.
 There weren’t many people at the party
 They don’t have much money
5. PAST SIMPLE OF IRREGULAR VERBS, AFFIRMATIVE, NEGATIVE AND QUESTIONS

A. STRUCTURE
We used the past simple to talk about finished actions events or
situations in the past.
We form the past simple of regular verbs by adding “ed” to the infinitive
form
We don’t form the past simple of irregular verbs with “ed”
1. Affirmative
Subject + form past simple verb + complement
(I, YOU, HE, SHE, IT, WE)
Example
She made a gold ring in her jewellery- making course.
2. Negative
Subject + auxiliary+ infinitive form + complement
(I, YOU, HE, SHE, IT, WE)+ did not + verb
Example
Kate didn’t take the train
3. interrogative
auxiliary + subject + infinitive form + complement?
Did+ (I, YOU, HE, SHE, IT, WE)+verb
Example
Did they take the train?

6. WRITE ABOUT SPECIAL EVENT IN THE PAST

Howard cartes was born in 1874. His family lived in London, but in 1891

carter went to egypt and worked there as an archaeo logist.

On 4th november 1992 carter discovered a tomb. It was the tomb of

tutankhamen, because a King when he was nine years old and he died

when he was nineteen. The egyptians made his face mask from ten
kilograms of gold and the tomb had 50000 gold and silver objects

inside.
