2.3 Installation Guideline for the AGRU

Sure Grip® Double Sealing System - HDPE
A.) General Notes
The liner systemconsists of a 3mmConcrete protective liner and a 5mm
distance liner (the two individual liners are fused together by mean of
ultasonic welding)
When the liner sheets are fitted to the formwork, it should be ensured that no
damage is done to the liners or the prefabricated welding seams. Should
groundwater be present where the cast forms are erected, appropriate measures
in accordance with DIN 18195 have to be taken.
The assembly of the liners on site has to be carried out in accordance with an
installation plan by or under supervision of trained personnel or by a plastic
fabricator who will also carry out the subsequent field welding.
The installation plan should specify the type and location of all welds.
Each weld should be assigned a unique identification label.
This will enable the installer to document his work by means of welding protocols
in connection with the installation plan.
B.) Assembly of AGRU Sure Grip® Concrete Protective Liner
For the assembly of the liner at the wall sections, a cast form system with no
or a minimum of braces should be used. This will minimize the number of
penetrations of the liner, which otherwise have to be patched later.
After the wooden forms have been erected as usual, the liner should be
mounted to the cast forms by using Sure Grip® profiles. The liners are fixed to
formwork by means of clamps and wire nails (used for roofing applications
with heads having a minimum diameter of 5-6 mm) in the center of the tear
off profile where extrusion welding seams have to be carried out later.
This will ensure that the penetrations caused by the nails are covered and sealed.
Whenever the Tear Off profile is applied, it is recommended to nail through
the profiles without penetrating the liners (see page 4). Afterwards, the liners
are joined together by means of wire loops at every 6th row of studs and are
thereby held together inside the formwork. The distance between two rows of
studs at the joints shall not exceed 1,5 x the standard stud row distance.
Thermal expansion should be taken into consideration by clamping the liners
only at the bottom edges . The liners are hung from the top edge of the cast
forms by using wire loops, rope loops or hooks and clamp devices.
This willallow the liner to flatten out when the concrete is poured.
The steel reinforcement is put in place once the liners have been secured to
the forms. The outer formwork may then be installed.
2
T E C H N I C A L I N F O R M A T I O N

To remove the cast forms appropriate crowbars have to be used.

The boards have to be removed very carefully so that the liner will not be
damaged.
Once the forms have been removed, the spacer holes and the nail holes are
sealed with caps or by welding directly over the holes (acc. to DVS 2227-1
part 5 -extrusion welding, heat element butt welding).
Timing of formwork removal is dependent upon the quality of the concrete,
specifically the curing time. We recommend a minimum concrete strength
(compressive strength) of 10 N/mm² / 1450 psi before formwork is removed.

C 2. General Instructions for the Floor Installation of the

AGRU Sure Grip®Double Sealing System

In general AGRU recommends two techniques for executing floor installation:

a)Standard Method
b)Grout injection Method
a)Standard Method
After the bottom concrete surface (foundation) has been prepared (cleaning with high pressure
steam cleaners or sand blasted to remove any residual sludge or other remaining particles), an
adhesive coating has to be applied in order to ensure adequate bonding between the existing
foundation and the floor plaster. The bottom surface is then divided into fields that match the
size of the concrete protective liners.
The arrangement of the fields is carried out by building supports out of lean concrete with
embedded strips out of Sure Grip liner (see page08).
The supports must be installed along the whole perimeter of the floor section.
It must be guaranteed that the Agru Sure Grip Liners are supported at the edges on a
bearing surface of at least 2 cm / 0.8 inch wide on the lean concrete supports .
Subsequently, the floor plaster is poured in the created sections and ruled in at a slightly raised level
(2-3 mm/ 0.078-0.118 in.)

Then the Agru Sure Grip® Liners are laid, tamped (or vibrated), covered with wooden
boards and evenly weighted (weight / m²: 30-40kg/ 66-88 lb.). Bags or plastic buckets filled
with water or sand can be used for this purpose.
The weight must not be removed until the concrete is cured sufficiently.

The lined bottom surface should be inspected for voids by tapping the liners with a rubber
mallet. Should any voids be repaired, they have to be mended (see page 12).

After this job has been finished the liners are joined by extrusion welding and then inspected.

Minimum requirements for the floor plaster:

mix ratio: ~ 400 - 500 kg cement/ m3

grain size: 0-8
water-cement ratio : 0,5

Option b)Grout Injection Method:

After the bottom concrete surface (foundation) has been prepared if necessary(cleaning with
high pressuresteam cleaners or sand blasted to remove any residual sludge or other remaining
particles), an adhesive coating has to be applied in order to ensure adequate bonding between
the existing foundation and the floor plaster. The bottom surface is then divided into fields that
match the size of the concrete protective liners.
The field size depends on the flowability of the used grout, therefore it is important to make tests
which area can be grouted in one process.
The arrangement of the fields is carried out by attaching perforated steel profiles to the existing
concrete (see page 09), thus supporting the Agru Sure Grip liner.
The reason for using perforated steel profiles is to ensure a homogenous bonding of the floor
plaster between the individual fields.
Another method of creating these fields is to build supports out of wire cages
The supports must be installed along the whole perimeter of the floor section.
It must be guaranteed that the Agru Sure Grip Liners are supported at the edges on a
bearing surface of at least 2 cm / 0.8 inch wide on the steel profiles or the wire cages .
Then the Agru Sure Grip® Liners are laid onto the profiles, adjusted and joined by extrusion
welding.
The field iscovered with wooden boards and evenly weighted (weight / m²: 300-400kg/ 660-
880 lb.). Bags or plastic buckets filled with water or sand can be used for this purpose.

Subsequently, the grout is injected in the controlled fields till it is pressed out of the aeration
pipe.
It has to be ensured that the aeration pipe provides sufficent ventilation
The weight must not be removed until the concrete is cured sufficiently.

The lined floor has to be inspected for voids by tapping the liners with a rubber mallet.
Should any voids be detected, they have to be repaired (see page 12).

Minimum requirements for the grout:

non shrinking, maximum elasticity, long working time
free of gas generating additives
mix ratio: specified by manufacturer
grain size: 0-4
water-cement ratio : specified by manufacturer

• Filling of Hollow Spots

If hollow spots are located by means of tapping the floor lining, two plastic pipes made of the
same materials as the liners are installed in the area to be repaired.

After the hollow area is filled with a grout mortar, the pipes are removed and the
penetrations of the liner are covered with smooth liner pieces. The liner pieces are then
extrusion welded to the floor lining.

Properties of the grout mortar:

Polyester concrete may be used for small areas (< 5 dm3), otherwise a grout with at least
80 N/mm² / 11500 psi compressive strength and less than 1,2 Vol% shrinkage can be used.
