A Scary Ride
It was a regular day for me. I was on my parents’ iMac playing Minecraft Sostrike. It

is technically a Counter Strike Go in Minecraft. I had Fortnite too, but Fortnite’s cancer and

Minecraft is taking over the world, thanks to PewDiePie. I was overpowered in that game.

When the game finished, I was victorious. “Emirhan get dressed, I am taking you

somewhere," said my mom. I didn’t want to, but if I didn't, I would have been grounded for a

whole day which meant that I wouldn't be able to play games at all. I logged out of my

Minecraft account and went to my room to get dressed. I wore my casual clothes and went

back to the living room. I did not see my sister in the living room, and I thought she was

outside. Something was going on! Probably my mother was going to take us to a mall or

somewhere like that, but I hate malls. I swiftly went to the kitchen to ask my mom if I had to

come because if I stay at home that will obviously last longer than two hours of gameplay.

This meant I could call my best friend over and play Minecraft or Call of Duty with him on

my PS3.

“Mom, can I stay at home if you are going to take us to a mall,” I said in a high-

pitched voice.

“I don’t think you’ll want to, because I am taking you to Vialand,” she responded

while laughing. I was shocked and thought this was a dream, but it turned out that it wasn’t.

Don't get me wrong this is a great thing. Vialand has one of the fastest roller coasters in

Europe, which is called Nefeskesen, it means Breathtaker in English. I went there once last

year at my sister's birthday, but I was a few centimeters off the height limit, and they didn’t

let me in, but this year they have to. Forget about playing Minecraft on the PS3, this is a ton

better. From the last time I went there, I knew that it would take two hours to reach there. The

front seats of the car were more comfortable than the ones at the back, so I wanted to sit in
the front. The moment I heard my mom telling me it was time to leave. I bolted to the front

door and sprinted outside to my parents’ car while making sure I had the keys to it. I quickly

sat in the front seat and began to wait for the others. After two hours of traveling, we finally

got there, to a huge mall which led to the roller coaster. This wasn’t the first time we were

there. We went there before at my sister’s birthday, we got lost trying to find the way out,

which leads to Vialand. We knew the way this time, but it still was a long walk. After ten

minutes I saw the roller coaster. We went through the entrance. The roller coaster was right in

front of me.

It looked scary, at least scarier than I thought. I wasn’t brave enough to do it, so I quit.

I spent two to three hours going on every single ride but one, Nefeskesen. I heard my father’s

voice trying to motivate me saying, “Emirhan if you are frightened to do it, I could come with

you. And you don’t have to be so stressed. It is not that bad.” I hesitated for a moment and

decided that I would do it. It was getting dark outside, so the waiting line was short. We went

in the line and began to wait for our turn. When it was our turn I sat in my seat, took the

squishy barrier down, and put on my seat belt. I was wondering if I could still leave. I felt my

father’s warm hand holding mine, at least I felt safe. The roller coaster began to move, in the

beginning, it was fine, but that only lasted for five seconds. The roller coaster started to go so

fast, that I couldn't think, observe, or react in any sort of way. It went around two hundred

meters up into the sky and fell right into a tunnel. It went in the tunnel at such a high speed

that I was able to feel the G-force acting on my body. It was super scary for my first time, but

the weird thing is that it only lasted for twenty seconds. The ride was over, and I realized that

it wasn’t so scary after all.

A funny thing is that I went on that ride twenty-nine more times throughout that year.

On that day I learned that I shouldn’t judge how scary things were without trying them out

first.
