Social

In this time being, with the crisis that are going on all over the world including Malaysia, it have
affected many aspects in many sectors. Some might be good and some might be not but for what
had happened, Malaysia’s government always trying their best to overcome the problem that arise.
After analysing the social aspect on the PESTLER analysis, it is found that during this crisis of the
Novel Corona Virus 2019 the global shared struggle against it and it is a humbling reminder to
everyone that the challenges that everyone face in this century affect dissimilar groups in strikingly
dissimilar ways and at different levels of severity. [ CITATION Ahs20 \l 17417 ]
As for the rich, moderate person and family with the crisis that are going on they might not
feel the severity as much as the poor and homeless. It can clearly be seen while our country issued
the Movement Control Order (MCO) and city-wide lockdown people quickly criticize the one that not
adhered to this order. This is well justified as the people that are going out of localities with poor
reason to do so are describe as selfish and inconsiderate which in their ways of perspective it can
clearly gave more severe impact on the crisis. Truly, it will but a person cannot put a blame on one
shoulder simply without considering their reasons to do so. Obviously the most affected group are
the one whose households are living hand to mouth where their income are basically came from
their daily workload basis. They are caught to be in hard situation where they cannot go out to find
money for their household which it giving an enough impact on their family well-being. [ CITATION
Ras20 \l 17417 ]
Therefore on this matter, Malaysia’s government has covenanted a significant amount of
money to help these affected groups. Nevertheless, in order to guarantee that everything is
corresponding effectively in a just manner, politicking and posturing need to be put aside in the
interest of confirming aid provided will relieve the crisis. Besides, in order to maintain trust, another
group has been put in to the list where Malaysia’s government are giving a hand to help to all the
small and medium enterprises (SME) to lessen the loads that have befallen them. [ CITATION
Ras20 \l 17417 ]
Other than that, crimes and the victims of violence are the other issue that need to be taken
into consideration as the crisis has allegedly noticed an increase in crimes including violent ones.
Ever since the MCO has been issued, the domestic abuse has increases from day to day. Malaysia’s
government dint not take this issues slightly as in 26 March 2020, Talian Kasih was introduced. This
hotline provide counselling as well as aid for women and children who experiencing abuse or any
mental health problems as there are escalation calls to the helpline in the meantime of movement
control order (MCO) began. [ CITATION Ras20 \l 17417 ]
Every previous highlighted issues show some thoughtful faults in the safety nets of our social
security structures. Nothing much that Malaysia’s government can do as some of good intentions
cannot efficiently be actualized in order to encounter the infection rates of Covid-19. Hence, in order
to benefit the poor and marginalised communities, Malaysia’s government should give emphasis to
nation-building towards securing more social system. With the suitable procedure and protocols the
government will not only will give assistance to overcome those problem but as well will boost them
from poverty when other crisis hits. [ CITATION Ras20 \l 17417 ]
In addition, government should also need to allocate more funding to the civil-society groups and
organisation that provide various aspects of social security mainly for the one that directly deal with
domestic abuse cases and welfare of children. [ CITATION Ras20 \l 17417 ]
Above and beyond, in order for this to come to fruition Malaysia’s government need to build a
society and government system that recognize our many social security flaws that can be trace
which happened to be; unconcern of public and corruption.[ CITATION Ras20 \l 17417 ]
Technology
The door for a bigger role of technology has been opened widely in assisting world including
Malaysia to combat Covid-19 and helping out all the citizens to adapt the new norm of life due to
this global health crisis. Due to the opened door, technology being a doubtful advantage for people
who wanting to take advantage of this global health crisis. Therefore, relevant cautious steps should
be taken into consideration as the technological emergency measures could expose peoples to
susceptibilities that violate human rights and privacy. [ CITATION Moo20 \l 17417 ]
In Malaysia, on the night of 16 March Prime Minister Muhyiddiin Yassin announced that the
government implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO) which are lasted for two weeks
initially. This MCO are convincing most people to stay at home and restriction to travels caught many
by surprise. Remarkably during this period of time, majority of citizens are staying home and the
rising role of technology in daily basis are noticeable from day to day. This can clearly be seen when
the ordinary work related and social interaction are carried out by using conference calls, students’
education continue by using e-learning, and even making a live streaming performances by and
video of home work out for the online viewers by the instructor which now quickly becoming a new
way of life. While some state that this crisis is driving residents to depend on technology
substantially more than expected, others consider technology to be a way to proceed with their day
by day undertakings in the midst of the disturbance confronted.[ CITATION Moo20 \l 17417 ]
An experimental run program to check the spread of COVID-19 which a mobile application called
MySejahtera has been propelled for residents to do wellbeing self-appraisals; this incorporates a
following activity. The application likewise assists residents with distinguishing nearby hospitals,
medical clinics and facilities for COVID-19 testing and treatment just as aides them on what to do on
the off chance that they contract the virus.[ CITATION Yat20 \l 17417 ]
Besides that, observation technology is additionally being embraced to implement the MCO
with drones being conveyed to help the law enforcement frontliners to screen public compliance.
Equipped with heat-detecting innovation and speakers, the drones are utilized during both day and
night to screen people movement around focuses in city centres, red zone areas, in addition to pass
on information to residents.[ CITATION Yat20 \l 17417 ]
In the mean time, Sarawak has revealed a digital observation system that requires those being
checked to wear a QR-coded wristband. Utilizing these tracking device, Sarawak means to screen
and control the spread of COVID-19 at all its Points of Entry (POE). Further, as indicated by Khairy
Jamaluddin, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), an application is being created
to help to tracing contact particularly after the MCO is haul up.[ CITATION Yat20 \l 17417 ]
Pushing ahead, to additionally use on technology to battle COVID-19, joint efforts and coordination
between different services and government organizations are required like never before. This
implies any important services need to help out the Ministry of Health (MoH), while the latter
laverages on its individual in-house specialists to direct inside and outer joint efforts.[ CITATION
Yat20 \l 17417 ]
Local joint efforts and collaboration ought to likewise involve in the technology-related
private sector, academia, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as the members of public.
During the first week of the MCO issued, the participation of public including the Malaysia 3D
printing and design communities join forces to produce face shields for frontliners. Few weeks after,
Huawei Malaysia contributed four technology solutions which let healthcare specialists to perform
remote online consultation with patients which then will eventually increase the effectiveness of
treatment as well as diagnosis. [ CITATION Yat20 \l 17417 ]
Last but not least, during this crisis the implementation of new technology also mean there
are increasing weaknesses that need to be taken into consideration. As in Malaysia, during the MCO
period, enforces observation technologies and development of other types, design and
implementation of these system should be conscious of the rights of citizens. Even though, public
health is the main concern government need to communicate with the public effectively about data
protection and transparency of how these technologies will be adopted.
