The legend of “Mărțișor”

The Mărțișor is a symbol of spring, where all of nature comes back to life.
The red threaded color symbolizes love, while the white threaded color
symbolizes health and prosperity.

It is said that girls will wash their faces all year with water from the snow
collected until March 1st , so that they will be beautiful and loving.

After 12 days of wearing the Mărțișor, it is then removed and can be tied
to a tree, so that it will bear lots of fruit throughout the respective year.
 Valentinte’s Day

Valentine’s Day, also known as „Lover’s Day” is an

official holiday.

On this day, people celebrate love. There is a legend

which states that Saint Valentine gathers the roots of love on
the 14th of February, thus making it a day of love.

In Romania, there is a similar yet traditional holiday,

named „Dragobete”, which is celebrated on the 24th of
February.
 Mother’s Day

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the

family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of
mothers in society.

It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most

commonly in the months of February or everyday of the week. It
complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as
Father's Day and Siblings Day.

In most countries, Mother's Day is an observance derived from

the holiday as it has evolved in the United States. As adopted by
other countries and cultures, the holiday has different meanings, is
associated with different events (religious, historical or legendary),
and is celebrated on different dates.

In some cases, countries already had existing celebrations

honoring motherhood, and their celebrations then adopted several
external characteristics from the US holiday, such as giving carnations
and other presents to one's mother.
