Evidence Life from a wheelchair

What does Ashley do for a living?

In the video, he does not say what he works for or how he makes a living, he says that he is a
general communication student at a university north of Lowa.

How does your condition affect your daily activities and how do you deal with it?

The paralysis that she has affects her walking and some of the motor skills, although she can do
many things that she normally does, she must accommodate herself and need more time to do
them, for example, she needs time to write because she cannot write so fast, to go to higher floors
you must use the elevator, also because some days the university is full of students you must
arrive earlier so that it is easier to get around in your wheelchair, also when the weather
conditions are strong it makes snow it becomes a problem so she prepares and goes the extra mile
to get to class early. To be able to go to the bathroom, she does it by herself, she is lucky because
her parents taught her how to get around and to be able to do it alone, so she simply gets up and
walks and although at university it is more complicated because it requires much more work, she
works hard and gets up his body and although it is difficult he succeeds. She can do even the
simplest tasks the only thing she can't do is run, but she would love to know what it feels like to
run

What is your attitude towards life? Do you feel disabled, by the way, occupations?

She has a positive attitude, assumes her disability with maturity and would like people to have
more confidence in her, she says that she is the same as everyone, only that she needs a little
more time, sometimes she feels belittled as if she were not so important because of her disability
and she feels that she only receives help because she feels sorry. As for the boys, it is difficult for
them to speak to her, so she jokes about her situation to gain confidence, she jokes all the time,
even playing with her friends in her chair. On wheels, she says that she is a very open person and
willing to say what they want to know, she prefers that people ask her things because she is
human and she is never afraid to answer, she will continue fighting for life.

• How would your life be different if you were disabled and had to wear a

Wheelchair? What would be different for you?

If I were disabled the truth would not know what my life would be like, I only know that I would
have to draw strength to live my life, but according to what I learned from Ashley

If I was disabled I couldn't run

If I was disabled, people would feel sorry for me

If I had been born with a disease, I would have to constantly go to the doctor

If I had to use a wheelchair, I would have to always use the elevator

If I were disabled, I would have to be stronger and make much more effort
How do you react when you have to interact with a disabled person?

The truth is that I feel sorry for these people, it makes me regret and sometimes I feel that I do not
value my health because I do not take full advantage of my abilities, I treat these people in the
best way and I try to give them a lot of affection and be very kind.

• How can you contribute to improving the lives of people with disabilities?

I could take the initiative and talk to them about being able to have a nice friendship, give them
both physical and emotional help, give them encouragement, support, and make them feel good,
always not miss the opportunity to make them feel good.
