RELIEF TIGER FORCE OR DEFENSE CIVIL FORCE?

Pakistanis have never stepped back when their help is needed amid natural disasters. Hence, it is
no wonder to see a number of people joining the relief tiger force on the one call of Pm to help
the hard hit people in this economic crash. The formation of relief tiger force has aroused the
reaction from opposition and civil activists on the political nature of force. Most of the
individuals are either affiliated or supporter of PTI. Politicians have right to win over the voter
by doing some public welfare work amid crisis. But in the current scenario of disturbed
economy, it raises the question on this logic. During this national health crisis, government got
chance to restructure the abandoned civil defense force which have institutional infrastructure
and a large presence within provinces. This force was formed under the act of 1952 to mobilize
people to assist government in helping the communities amid disaster. But, due to negligence of
officials and shortage of funds, this institution couldn't survive. Government’s action of
gathering people under the abandoned legal entity would have gotten much more appreciation
then mobilizing under political name. Still, the government got the chance to convince the relief
tiger force to work under the institutionalized framework or pursue primary teachers to work
there on Sundays until new force is hired. KP has placed the defense civil force within province
to distribute ration during economic crisis. If they can do that, then why not other provinces.
