Guided Questions (5 pts. each)

1. Are you familiar with any laws or ordinances being implemented in our country in
relation to e-waste disposal? If yes, please cite the laws or ordinances. If not,
what do you think is the reasons why law makers did not pay much attention on
this matter?
I am not familiar with any law or ordinances in relation to e-waste disposal
because even our country is considered as a legal dumpsite of e-wastes. The
discarded electronic goods from developed economies end up in our country in
increasingly large quantities. The waste brings significant risks to human health
and environmental safety.

2. What actions can you suggest in order to minimize the growing number of e-
waste in our society?
There are a lot of ways on how to curb these environmental hazards. On the part
of the manufacturers, I think they should minimize the use of unsafe chemicals and
materials in their products. E-waste contains harmful chemicals that causes an
extremely unhealthy environment. With the evolution of technology to develop brand
new electrical and electronic appliances, or equipment and gadgets with advanced
features, more and more home appliances and electronic gadgets are being put up
for disposal. On our part, we have to learn how to dispose or recycle our e-waste
properly. This can save a lot of energy and reduce the need for mining of new raw
resources, or manufacturing new parts. If we have gadgets or devices that are still
working but we feel like we don’t need them anymore, we can donate ir or sell it on a
much lower price. And in relation to that, I suggest not to buy things that are not
necessary. Another way is to maintain our devices to increase its longevity so that
we don’t buy and buy new one.

Guided questions (5 pts. Each):

1. Rate your awareness on technological diseases and internet addiction (1 being
the lowest and 5 is the highest). Is it important for a student to be aware of the
technological diseases and internet addiction caused by modern devices? Why?
4, Yes. technology has been a huge part of our society’s everyday life so these
technological diseases are becoming more and more common nowadays. Our lives
have been spent in front of our screens so it is important for people especially
students to know all the consequences if they continue to let the technology hijack
their quality of life, that even their health can be affected with excessive use of digital
devices.

2. As a student, what recommendations can be employed to minimize the student’s

experiences of technological diseases and internet addiction?
I think the key to prevent all these technological diseases and internet addiction is
self-control because some people just spend so much time online that it negatively
impacts the rest of their lives. Instead of letting the internet control our lives I think
we just need to focus on the reality more. We can schedule time to check our
phones and devices or block those sites or apps that will prevent us from visiting
during our focus period. Another thing is to improve our social interpersonal
relationships instead of spending most of the time in front of our screens, why not
just spend it with your family and friends? We can also minimize the use of our
browsers just use book to search answers for our activities and researches.

soil quality. nutrients increased deficiencies of
micro nutrients along
with soil contamination
due to chemical fertilizers

2. Hazards on pesticides The use of technology More effective in killing

was not yet recognized so insects and prevents
it’s not that effective than diseases which results in
in the 2nd revolution higher productivity.

3. Biodiversity More preserved Land degradation, loss of

biodiversity, increase in
greenhouse gas
emissions

4. Pollution Less pollution because it More pollution as a result

is more like the traditional of new advances and use
way of planting crops of technology

Conclusion
Although technological advances help to increase productivity and yields
There are still disadvantages of applying technology in the agriculture industry and
also in our environment. Yes, life will be easier with the use of technology and it
may help agriculture but it may also have a negative impact in our environment.
