A guy brought this machine for repair.

When I powered up the machine; while customer still in the

shop; the machine was completely dead. I never opened a cash register machine before but since it
has to do with power issues, I was more than willing to check it out.

I already took some parts out and more screws to come out; I was able to see what inside this old
beat up machine.

My thoughts were focused on power issue but I was also thinking what if, I fixed the power issue
then I find out that there is more to it. I informed the customer about this and he totally agreed for
some compensation in case of further damaged.
The top cover was off and that is what I saw beneath it. This is the main board of the machine. I had
to take this board of to get the power board.
As you can see, the power comes to the main transformer. All the specs were printed on it which
made my repair much easier.

Out of the transformer, the power goes to the power board. According to specs on the transformer, I
should be getting at least 11 volts but look what I got when I tested the output of the transformer.
I came to an easy conclusion that the transformer is dead. The transformer is 11 volts and it goes up
to 2 amps in ratings. I could not find such transformer anywhere. I talked to an electrician who owns
a shop nearby and he suggested a transformer that goes up to 3 amps and 12 volts. This
transformer usually used for electrical door locks. I was willing to try that but to my disappointment, I
forgot to take a photo of it.
Part of the transformer is seen here under the logic board. The word load came on because not all
the connections were installed including the drawer. I put everything back and the customer picked
up his machine.
