Foam Core Insert Plans

Materials:
 1 Sheet 5mm thick foam core (mine tends to measure 4.5mm)
 Sharp Utility knife (snap off blades preferably)
 Metal Ruler
 PVA Glue (many different types can be used)
 Push Pins (to hold things while the glue dries)
 Books ( or other heavy objects)
 Cutting Mat
Plans:
 (1) Base Insert
 (1) Token Tray
 (1) Dice Box
Tips for this insert:
 Dry fit the pieces and make sure the minis and trays will
fit!
 There can be minor differences in the game box. After cutting
the main base piece (floor), put it into the game box and adjust
as needed.
 The spacing for the minis can be changed to your liking. As
with any insert, check your measurements as you go.
 You can add an extra piece of foam core to the bottom of the
Hero mini slots. This will make it easier to remove them.
 The Dice tray is easier to remove if you store the Dice Tray on
top of the Token Tray.
 I will also link 3D printer files of the token and dice trays if
you have access to a 3D printer.
Beginner Tips:
 Sharp knife!!! Snap the blade off regularly to keep a sharp
edge.
 Light pressure on your cuts. I generally take 3-4 light passes
for each cut. If you try and make a cut in 1-2 passes you will
get tear out. This will leave you with a very rough looking
edge as opposed to a nice clean cut.
 Use push pins to hold things while the glue dries.
 Apply pressure (book) while glue is drying.
 Try to make your cuts as vertical as possible, so that pieces are
90o to each other when you are gluing.
 As you follow plans, measure as you go. Every box can be
slightly different and you may need to adjust a couple
millimeters here and there.
 Your cuts may be off slightly. You may need to adjust as you
go to make up for this difference.
 If you are making multiple trays for an insert, it is a good idea
to cut a single piece of foam core to the added dimensions of
the trays and test it in the space to see if it fits. For example, if
I need three identical trays (54mm x 90mm) to fit in a space
164mm x 92mm, I would cut a single piece 162mm (54mm x
3) x 90mm. I then test the piece in the space. If it fits well, I
will then cut the single piece into three pieces (54mm x 90mm)
 For even spacing in tray and base dividers, use spacers. If I
need to place several dividers 25mm apart, I will cut a couple
of pieces of scrap foam core to 25mm and use them to place
the dividers.
