a How’s that water temperature?

The nurse will check the temperature of the water when the nurse wants to bath the patient,
the temperature of the water must be adjusted to the patient's body temperature

b Do you like soap or shower gel?

Before bathing the patient the nurse will ask if the patient likes soap or shower gel to make the
patient more comfortable and find out if the patient is allergic to soap or shower gel

c Shall I wash your back now?

The nurse asks whether the patient's back was washed or not, this is done to find out the
patient's wishes and so that the patient feels more appreciated and not ignored
d Tell me if that’s uncomfortable.

The nurse will ask the patient to tell him what makes him feel uncomfortable, this is done so
that the nurse knows what the patient feels and to increase patient comfort

e Is that OK?

The nurse asks this to find out if the patient feels comfortable with what the nurse is doing

f Tell me when you’ve had enough.

The nurse asks the patient to tell him when the action he took is felt sufficient by the patient so
that the nurse can finish the action

g Tell me if I press too hard.

The nurse asks the patient to tell him if he presses too hard. this is done so that the patient
feels more comfortable

h Shall I wash down below for you? (genital area)

The nurse asks this so that the patient feels more respected and so that the patient knows that
the nurse will clean the genitalia area

i Would you like to do that yourself?

Nurses ask this so that patients feel more respected and so patients can be independent, It is a
phrase that nurses use when helping to bathe patients in bed. The other three phrases that
nurses can use when helping to bathe patients are :

1. Do you want me to wash your hair with shampoo

2. I will dry your body using a towel.

3. Do you need my help to use clean clothes

a How did you sleep last night? ( tonight I sleep a little uncomfortable because my waist hurts )

b Are you expecting any visitors today? ( Yes, I expect my family to accompany me )

c Did you have much breakfast? ( Today morning I only eat bread and not too much )

d How are you managing to move around? ( when I want to move, I use assistive devices because my
legs have broken bones.)

e Is your pain relief working? ( The pain that I experienced slightly reduced after I took anti-pain
medication )

f How are you feeling about….? (I feel good right now )

g Has your leg/back/stomach been giving you any more trouble? ( yes, I still feel pain so I still have
difficulty when moving )

h Have you had any more problems with indigestion?( Yes, Lately I often defecate five times a day.)
