Story Time Video
The video story for this week is “Color Zoo” by
Lois Ehlert. As you watch along with your child,
discuss shapes, animals and colors that you see
in the pages of the book.
THIS WEEKS ACTIVITIES
A Cup is For…
1. During your interactions with children, name
various objects and talk about how they are
used.
"Look at this baby doll! She closes her eyes when
we lay her down. Let's put her in her bed so she
can sleep."
2. With younger children, ask the question and
give them the answer. With older children,
build on their language as they answer by
modeling new words or word combinations.
"What are your shoes for? That's right. You can
run fast in your shoes."
Family Faces
1. Collect photos of the faces of each child's
family members.
2. Sit with a child and look at the photos of your
family.
"Look, here is a picture of your daddy."
3. Talk with the child about the person in each
photo. As the child begins naming the people
in the photos, build on his vocabulary by
adding words and phrases.
"Who do you see in this picture? That's right. It's
Mommy. Mommy brought you to school this
morning."
On Monday the entire class will be invited to join one of two virtual circle time sessions to be held on Thursday.
There will be one in the morning at 9:00 am using the Zoom link and one in the afternoon using Webex at 2:30 pm.
We ask you to attend ONE session, but you are welcome to attend both. Reminders will be sent on Wednesday.
The Password is Ruby for both sessions. We will catch up and greet one another. We will also sing some of our

Dear Families,
Ashley and I would like to express our appreciation for all of you as we are
navigating through this new way of teaching and learning with your children.
With the uncertainty of when we will return to the classroom in the way in
which we once knew, Ashley and I have strived to make teaching at home for
you as stress free as possible. We have been diligently working on ways to do
that as the weeks/months have progressed. With using Email, text messaging
and Zoom meetings to try to stay connected with you and your children. We
understand that the struggle is real as we are all experiencing the stay safe at
home order differently.
To perhaps makes things easier starting this week, June 8, we plan to hold
two different Virtual Circle Time events using two different virtual meeting
formats. Those formats will be Zoom and Webex. Zoom was problematic for
some families to join and the testing out of the Webex format last week
posed other challenges but nothing we cannot overcome. With our planning
to use both formats this week, families can choose which meeting format
that they wish to use that is the most convenient for them. You do NOT need
to attend both sessions unless you choose to. We will continue to set those
up on Mondays and send out the invitations as usual with a reminder sent
out the day before the virtual event. Please be looking for those in either
your email or text messages as this is where you can find the link to join and
the password.
We have also created a Google Classroom to house all of the story time
videos, and activities that we have been sending out each week. It is where
you may go to find a video or activity that you may like to revisit or have
deleted or cannot find in your messages. You must, however have an email
address to access the Google Classroom App. If you have a Gmail account
you already have access to this app. Lisa will send out an invitation to join via
your email address soon. When you accept the invitation, it will ask you if
you would like to download the Google Classroom App. Click yes, this is a
free app. Once you are in you can see all the activities and videos grouped by
the week in which they were sent out. You can also make comments in the
app that we can use for documentation on your child’s development. You
can also comment or chat with other families. Just remember this is public
for all to see. If you have questions please reach out to us and will help guide
you through it.
