Indoor Unit Mounting - Front

1. Observe RF safety precautions
2. Do not block the vents
3. Do not set up the equipment on carpet,
heated floor or bare concrete.
4. Do not cover the equipment with table cloth,
rubber or plastic material.
5. Do not set up the equipment in bookshelves
or locker, etc.
6. Do not place books, paper, etc on and against
the equipment.
7. Do not install sideways or slanting -
ventilation.
8. Clean, dry place where temperature and
humidity remain stable, non-condensing.
9. If necessary, install the equipment in an
airtight room or shelter
10. Do not apply air directly from the air-
conditioner to the equipment as this may
cause condensation.
11. For measures against the damage from salt
water to an ODU, consult with NEC.

DADE Operation
The DADE control applies in 1+1 configuration to adjust the delay time for RX hitless switching
when the INTFC status is indicating out of phase. The DADE adjustment is needed in initial
lineup or when the IF CABLE is replaced. A readjustment is not needed when the INTFC status
is indicated in-phase.

RX 1
ODU
DADE: Automatically adjusts delay time based on either
No.1 signal or No.2 signal selected by the RX SW under
the out of phase condition of the INTFC status. The
DADE control is processed assuring no interruption of RX 2 ODU l1 << l2
l2
traffic.

Offset DADE: Automatically adjusts delay time based on

either No.1 signal or No.2 signal selected by RX SW
under the out of phase condition of the INTFC status. The
offset memory minimizes the latency delay, therefore
l1
traffic interruption can occur at switchover as the two
signals may not be 100% in phase. DEM DADE
Variable
DADE off: Set when DADE function is not used. For Hitless Delay
particularly, when low bit rate (10 to 20 MB) transmission
Switch
is applied to the system, the DADE control is not required.

Antenna Alignment

Antenna alignment requires technicians at both sites, with

communication between them.
INSTALLATION

Antenna Alignment (1/2)

1. Point antennas at both sites at each other
as closely as possible.
2. Use binoculars, etc. as necessary. It may
be necessary to lightly loosen the antenna
nuts.
3. Power up the radios at both sites.
4. Designate one site as the transmitter site.
5. If the equipment is working in MTPC mode,
leave it, as it is.
6. If the equipment is working in ATPC mode,
set the ATPC Manual control to on.
7. At the receiver site (the other site) monitor
the AGC voltage on the ODU with a digital
voltmeterl. If you use a voltmeter, you have
to use a converter to connect it to the F
type male connector of the ODU.

Antenna Alignment (2/2)

7. Adjust the azimuth and elevation angle of the antenna alternately so that the
measured voltage becomes maximum. The antenna alignment procedure differs in
the case of different antennas, which were developed by different vendors. Be sure
to move the antenna the find the main lobe. Between the two sub lobes (two lower
voltage values) is the main lobe.

This picture shows a simplified radiation pattern of an antenna:

8. The typical values of the measured voltages are : 2…3,5 V DC (RX lev.= -50
dBm..-28 dBm)
