LOW CARPARK CHARGE

Car park fees that is charged per day in hotels are no longer profitable rather they are more
advantageous to the customers. Whenever customer want to park their car, they need to pay
RM3 per car. The cost involved with Sri Suria Hotel’s parking per car is 70% of that charge
which is RM2.10. This will make the profit of RM0.90 per car is through this parking system
implemented by Sri Suria Hotel but the question is, will it be sufficient enough for hotel to be
running in long term. In fact many other competing hotels are now using car park systems
that charge its customers hourly instead of daily basis. It is advisable for Sri Suria Hotel to
follow the trend and implement the parking system that charges its customers hourly. This
would definitely increase the profit generated for Sri Suria Hotel and improve the hotel’s
performance in the long run. This way might be quite unethical especially for customer
perspective because it will increase the cost for customer to stay in the hotel. However in
order for company to be sustainable in long time, I believe it is appropriate for company to do
so.

IMPROVISED HOTEL ONLINE BOOKING

As stated in the case, to those who want to book spaces for events, they need to come to
hotel which in Perak to discuss the event requirement with event coordinator. It is unfair and
might be burden for customer to go all the way to Perak just to discuss with event
coordinator. Sri Suria Hotel need to improvise their online booking and extend it to their
event management activities. Event planner jobs nowadays are dominated by the millennials
who want to access every information with ease via online. By having online booking for the
event spaces will allows the customers to have a quick review of their event space and
experience without having to come to the hotel. By doing this, the hotel can attract more
customer from outside of Perak to book with them because the booking does not involve
physical presence. This is an opportunity for Sri Suria Hotel to interact with potential and
existing clients and improve customer relationship. In order to make this works well, the hotel
must assign special department to devote to new and innovative online streaming and really
cater for online customers’ needs.

REDUCING THE NUMBER OF STAFFS

In order for Sri Suria Hotel to adopt new costing strategy, they need to reduce some
unnecessary cost such as reduce the number of staffs. This obviously will favour to company
but surely will give bad impact to the staffs. It is because when they are fired, they will lost
income and their job as well. Since they are one of company stakeholder, I believe company
should make decision appropriately and not ignore their stakeholder interest. There are
many other ways for company to consider to reduce the cost instead of reduce the staffs.
One of them is company can find supplier who offer low price of materials. Moreover, if staffs
are laid off, I think this will give bad impression of public to the company for not having good
employee welfare.
