Learner Interview: 10+ Years P.E.

Teacher

1. How many hours do you feel is sufficient for lesson planning, creating, and finding
resources?
We have our games planned out and set up every morning during the 50 minute planning
period we get. I throw together an occasional PowerPoint or two within that time if I have to
do character or health lessons. I use the nicer looking templates to save time.

2. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being familiar and 1 no idea) how familiar are you with one of the
following…PowerPoint, Photoshop, Prezi, Keynote, other presentation or graphics
software?
If you’re five then I’d be a three.

3. How familiar are you with design principles like Rule of Thirds, Visual Motion, & Color
Theory, etc.?
Fairly familiar, my brother’s an artist and I dabble in lots of things.

4. Rate the importance of striking visuals and/or audio when presenting content to
students from 1-5 (5 being a necessity and 1 being Unimportant)
Five. Even before technology, the kids could sense when people weren’t bringing their A-
game or when teachers are being fake. With everything they’re used to watching for hours
they expect us to push the envelope a little bit with how edgy the stuff we show is as well as
how slick.

5. Rate how much you prefer technology based PD in the form of online ScreenCast with
a quiz from 1-5 (5 being your favorite form and 1 would rather with a live instructor)
Five. I can work at my own pace.

6. Rate how comfortable you are running presentation software or a video while
managing a classroom (5 I prefer it and 1 class is much harder to manage with
presentation software or video)
No Response for this one. I manage a class fine regardless, and when I’m in the gym I’m not
running it except to show what station they’re on, or what activity we’re doing for the day. It
does make a good teleprompter for when we have those throw all the kids in with us for
assemblies with a day notice.

7. Rate how willing you would be to take an e-learning course on how to create more
engaging content with available presentation software (5 for very willing and 1 for
unwilling)
Five. Those visuals looked great and I do enjoy doing some visual art stuff from time to time.
8. Rate from 1-5 positive feelings towards your workplace (5 being very positive and 1
being only slightly positive.)
Eh four? We’re a good team but not always sure about the other folks, ah five just to be nice.
I like that admin leaves us alone and we can do things the way we like and we do solid work
in our specials classes.
