c. Click and hold to highlight key-word and definition

d. Press CTRL+C
e. Press Alt+Tab (repeating tab if necessary) to access Microsoft Word
f. Press CTRL+V to paste text to be used in step 4
2. Download and name relevant engaging image
a. Navigate to unsplash.com
b. Type in vocabulary word or more common strongly related word
c. Choose photo and make a mental note of its focal point(s) and some visual space for text
d. Copy artist name
e. Click download
f. Name file after vocabulary word or memorable clue and CTRL+V to paste artist name
3. Import and frame picture in PowerPoint
a. Click search icon and type in first part or full name of image file
b. Right click image file or name in results, left-click open file location from options, CTRL+C
(your file will be highlighted you don’t need to look for it), Alt-Tab or click PowerPoint app to
front, CTRL+V (you should see your image on the PowerPoint slide)
c. Click and drag, holding shift, a corner of the image so it’s large enough to cover the entire
slide
d. Click and drag image around so a focal point is on a rule of thirds intersection or important
line is on a line
e. Repeat steps a & b for the rule of thirds png tool downloaded previously (you should see
rule of thirds grid), click grid, format, align, middle, then center which will center your grid
and help visualize the borders of the slide
f. Click and drag outer edge of enlarged image, enlarge or shrink as needed for aesthetic effect
4. Merge text and graphics using matching color, rule of thirds, and font
size for emphasis.
Create Color Pallet
a. Click one included swatch on the left, format, shape fill, eye dropper
b. find brightest color on image and click on it
c. Repeat e for next shape then click the darkest color, then repeat choosing colors in between
the first two lightness values for the remaining swatches
Create Textboxes and Strategically Place them
d. Click insert, textbox, create textbox over a relatively uniformly colored area and/or following
a horizontal line on rule-of-thirds
e. Alt+Tab to Word, highlight 1f text, press CTRL+C, press Alt+Tab, click textbox, press CTRL+V
f. Highlight or CTRL+double-click important words and edit text color and size using
eyedropper tool and font tool on the most contrasting colors from the swatches making
most important words most visible
g. Move sentence text around so it’s all visible if text is still hard to see or you’d like more
emphasis click the text box, format, text effects, then add effects to taste.
5. Export Product and attach to lesson plan
a. Click file, export, change file type, double click png,
b. type file name, click on destination,

c. click save choose the all slides or just this one (whichever applies)
d. Navigate to your lesson plan submission place
e. Click the paper clip or attach icon and click on your original product(s)
