Installation Instructions for

C-3 and C-3C Side Load Housings
Housing Installation Filter Installation
1. The housings should be permanently
installed and the system blown out
before the filters are installed.

2. The flanges of the housing should be

bolted, riveted or welded to the mating
flanges of the ductwork. All joints
should be sealed with a suitable caulking
compound, such as Dow Corning 732,
building silastic, or G.E. RTV, or equal.

3. For stacked or butted units only: When

one unit is placed on top of another it is
necessary to use a steel batten strip
(against the horizontal seal formed by
the junction of the two units) to bolt
them together. Side-by-side housings are
bolted together at the corner post.
Welding is intermittent. All joints
between housings (welded or bolted)
should be caulked airtight.
1. Slide the filter into the housing making
certain that the filter gasket is on the
sealing flange side of the housing (on the
opposite side of the mechanism). Be sure
that the pleats of the filter media are in a
vertical position when airflow direction
is horizontal (when airflow is vertical,
alignment of the pleats is not necessary.)

2. When all the filters are in place, use a

¾”” socket or wrench to turn the bolt of
the filter locking mechanism in a
clockwise rotation. This will thrust the
filter gasket against the sealing flange in
the housing.

3. Close the access door and tighten the

four wing nuts finger-tight.
