Recurrent cystitis in women is a frequently
occurring medical problem; 70 % of cystitis
cases in women are caused by E. coli (Esch-
erichia coli). E. coli is a commensal, a nor-
mal inhabitant of healthy intestines, that
becomes a pathogen in some women. We
often see that women receive one course
of antibiotics after another for this, yet the
problem recurs. Besides choosing a specific
homeopathic remedy, the vicious circle can
sometimes be broken by the use of Coliba-
cillinum, the nosode made from Escherichia
coli.
E. coli is a gram-negative rod-shaped bacte-
rium, and is one of the common sorts of
bacteria in the large intestine of warm-
blooded animals such as mammals; it is
necessary for the digestion of food. Apart
from digestion, the symbiosis of warm-
blooded animals with E. coli has another
function: the production of vitamin K,
which is necessary in order for the liver to
make thrombogen for the proper coagula-
tion of blood. This vitamin also helps calci-
um to find its right place and to remain
there. E. coli belongs to the family of the En-

large family of bacteria, to which well-
