Summary

Martin Heidegger is one of the most influential Philosopher of the 20 th century. Technology was
a major element in his work: for him, it was the key to understand our current time.

According to Heidegger, Technology is a mode of revealing. In which, human takes power over
the reality. He sated that modern technology “rather a forcing into being” and it serves us the raw
material to available in production and manipulation.

Poiesis is the activity in which a person brings something into being. Heidegger describes
technology as Poiesis. It means human no longer need to work by the rhythms of nature because human
learned how to control it.

Enframing the technology is the essence of which the technology comes to open, and make
sense for us. Heidegger discovers on how to Way out of Enframing using Art. He says that Art is the only
way to see the reality of nature. Using Meditative thinking, human can recognize the natures excellence.

 Calculative Thinking- one orders and puts a system to nature so it can be

understood better and controlled.
 Meditative Thinking- One let’s nature reveal itself to him or her without forcing
it.

Conclusion

We should not allow ourselves to be swallowed by the Modern Technology. There will be
instances that we will lose the essence of who we are as human beings in the world. If we cannot let go
of the convenience and profits brought about by the processes and industries that pollute our
environment and cause climate change, then technology has consumed our life and humanity.
