General guidelines for students regarding online examination

1. The student can attempt the Examination through any of the two modes described
below:
Mode 1: Laptop/Desktop along with Smart Phone (Only Android-5.0 or above)
Mode 2: Only through Smart Phone (Only Android-5.0 or above)

2. The student should make arrangements for the necessities required for online
examination mainly being:
a. Laptop/Desktop and Smart Phone (Only Android-5.0 or above).
b. Active Internet Connection of 2-3 Mbps speed or above.
c. Sufficient charged Laptop/Desktop and Smart Phone (Only Android) lasting for
at least 2 hours.
d. Uninterrupted internet connection with reasonable speed, for duration of
examination.
e. Uninterrupted power supply for duration of examination.
f. Working webcam and mobile camera of good resolution.
g. Allow requisite permissions on browser/app to access camera.
h. Arrange and keep with yourself the basic Examination Stationery including A4
size sheets, 2 Pens, a Pencil, Scale, a calculator, highlighter, eraser, sharpener,
water bottle etc.
i. University Id Card or in case you do not have University ID Card you can use
a snap shot of your UMS Homepage wherein your picture and registration
number are visible
3. Ensure that you chose an isolated place with no distraction in the surroundings for
attempting your online examination.
4. Keep your camera (webcam/mobile camera) and microphone on during the complete
duration of examination. Allow requisite permissions for the same on browser/App.
5. You shall be monitored online throughout the exam. Hence, strictly refrain from
moving out of frame while attempting the examination. In case, camera is not able to
detect you or you move out of frame multiple times, your test shall be automatically
submitted.
6. You should not open any file/website on your laptop/mobile by moving out of the test
window unnecessarily. You are allowed to move out of the test window only to upload
the answer sheets. Moving out of the test window multiple times without uploading any
document shall lead to auto-submission of the examination immediately.
7. In case your internet is disconnected in between for 1-2 minutes, still your test shall
resume and continue automatically. However, the same may not be true in case of long
time net unavailability. So insure proper internet connectivity.
8. Do not use your mobile for any other purposes such as calling, messaging, referring
study material etc. It should be utilized only for clicking photograph of the answer
sheets and uploading it. Indulgence in such activities shall lead to Unfair Means Case
against the student.
9. The pattern of the online examination shall be:
a. One subjective question each from Unit 4, 5 and 6.
b. Each question shall carry 15 marks.
10. The questions shall be made visible to you one-by-one in the interface. You shall refer
to the question and write your answer in your own handwriting on A4 size sheets
with a blue pen. Typed answers/photo of images/printed diagrams/printed
flowcharts shall not be considered.
11. Note that, you can skip a question if you do not wish to attempt the same. However,
you shall not be able to come back to that question later i.e. movement in the
examination shall be uni-directional – from Q1. → Q2. → Q3.
12. In case, you skip a question or answer a question in less than 30 minutes you can utilize
the remaining time in attempting other questions.
13. For one question, you can utilize a maximum of 4 A4 size sheets (one-sided).
14. Each answer sheet should carry your details such as Registration number, Exam Date,
Exam Time course code, question number and page number on each sheet. The page
number should be written as Page 1 of 4, Page 2 of 4, Page 3 of 4 and Page 4 of 4 incase
4 sheets have been utilized by you. Same pattern shall follow if total no. of sheets
utilized by you are 1, 2 or 3.
15. The total duration of examination shall be 120 minutes (approximately 30 minutes to
attempt each question and 10 minutes to upload the photograph of the answer sheet for
each question).
16. After writing the answer you shall be required to click the photograph of the answer
sheets and upload it in the required interface.
17. In case, a student fails to complete/appear for the examination to poor network
connectivity for any day, then he/she shall be given an opportunity to appear for the
offline examination of that course code in regular pattern with 3 hour time duration,
when the University re-opens. However, such an opportunity shall not be given to the
student in case he/she is found using unfair means such as impersonation, moving out
of camera frame, opening alternate websites, moving out of test window, using mobile
phone during test for calling/messaging/referring notes etc.
18. Online examination once missed by a student due to technical or personal reason shall
not be re-scheduled under any circumstances. Process as mentioned in point 17 shall be
applicable for them.
19. During the exam, in case you face any issue, you can contact on the helpline number
01824-517450 to seek the resolution.
20. Detailed instructions on “How to use the interface” as well schedule for the mock test
to make you conversant with the test interface shall be shared shortly.
