BSA 1Y1-4 Understanding the Contemporary World

My Learning Experience

At first, when I saw this subject The Contemporary World in my reg. card, I know it

would be difficult for me because I thought it was a history subject and I hate history. On the

first day of class with this subject, I saw my professor Mr. Morales I was intimidated by his aura.

I thought He was a strict teacher but I was wrong and I remember the quote, which is “Don’t

judge the book by its cover”. Also, the subject itself, it is not that really difficult to understand.

On the first day of class with this subject, we already had the syllabus, which contains all the

topics that would be tackle and all the requirements that we will pass on the said week of

submission. I learn how to balance or manage my time to finish all the requirements and pass it

in exact deadline.

Also, when I heard that we need to memorize the assignment that we did it was difficult

for me because I’m not the type of person that good in memorization because in the past years

I just do my assignment without analyzing it. And we will be call by draw lots and the lucky

person who will be call are the one who will recite his/her assignment in front of the class.

That’s why I spent time to memorize my homework. However, with the help of memorizing it

made me realize that when you memorize it helps us to analyze and remember important

words. Also, it also help me to understand the topic of the subject that we tackled. In some

case, I remember before he start to discuss, our professor will show us an article that we need

to read and understand it carefully and he will call three (3) or more students depending on the

questions that he will ask and it will be a draw lots again. I learned that I should read in advance

the topics that we will tackle before class. I need to prepare for me to answer all the questions

that he will ask because there is a possibility that my number or my name will be call. I also

learned that, I need to analyze and understand it carefully for me to cope up with the topics.

In some situation, when doing some reports or any paper works I usually prefer to do it

individual because I don’t want to see anyone my paper works specially when I am not sure
with my essays specially with my grammar. I also don’t want anybody to blame me if there’s

some error or mistakes in our paper work. Nevertheless, I learned in this subject that it was

helpful if I have a members or groupmates because we can brainstorm and share our ideas and

perspective. Moreover, it can test our cooperation and teamwork in every groupings and we

can see the persons who trust us that we can do our part in-group works. Specially, when we

have a role play performance, we share our ideas and insights on how we can derive to a better

performance that we will present in front of our class and professor, in that case we learned

how each every one of us are have an important role in our group. This experiences and

learnings which I can apply not only in this subject or to the other subjects but also in corporate

world which I can improve and develop myself towards to every situations that I encountered,

to appreciate everyone around me and to value every opinions and their perspective and every

memories that I will treasure forever.
