Summary

In the article “The Swedish Model: Welfare for Everyone,” The Constitutional

Rights Foundation points out that Swedes has established a well-being program that has

eliminated poverty and given many benefits to all the citizens by paying high taxes. The

Swedish Model began to succeed in 1970. The Constitutional Rights Foundation explains

that The Swedish Social Democratic Party (SDP) support this welfare providing benefits

like health insurance, old-age pensions, family support and other social benefits. Even

though that Swedes must pay half of their salary, they have eliminated poverty and

obtained many advantages that allow them to have a better quality of life. CRF also

mentions that are some people that complains about this social welfare because of

unemployment, inflation and budget deficit. In conclusion, CRF state that The Swedish

Model gives mane benefits to their citizens that are helpful in their life. However, in the end

article the author seems to question this welfare system for some people that are

disagreeing to be paying high taxes.

Response

Although are some people that complains about The Swedish Model, CRF

arguments that the Swedes has established successful social welfare that has eliminated

poverty and given many benefits to their citizens is very convincing. CRF explains that the

Swedish Model provide health insurance, old – age pensions, family support and other

social benefits to their citizens by paying taxes. Even though the Swedes must pay high
taxes, they have more benefits and better quality of life than other country that their taxes

are lower. For example, in Panama people don’t have to pay too much for taxes, but they

don’t have a good education, a health care system that can use. Also, having all this social

benefit that the governments provide to the Swedes help that the country have a better

security in their country. In conclusion, there will always be people who will not agree on

something and have another opinion, but CRF argues about The Swedish Model and all the

benefits that have is something that every should to eliminate poverty.
