Project Proposal – Module 2
SPONSORING ORGANIZATION
The Program of Magister Manajemen, Bina Nusantara University
The Program of Magister Manajemen is one of several post graduate program designed
at Master level in Bina Nusantara University. The MM Program in Blended Learning is
so far the only Master level program in Indonesia that offers its learning participants the
ability to pursue a Master-level program using blended learning mode. The MM
Program in Blended Learning operates under Binus Business School, which is a group
of programs which offer a major in business degree from undergraduate level until
doctoral. The vision of Binus Business School is “to be an internationally recognized
business school in the continuous pursuit of innovation in education”, while its mission is
“to be committed to implement innovative mindset in business education and research
to develop professionals who can meet the challenges of industries and society”.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project is initiated towards improving the performance of students who are
registered in the program of MM Blended Learning which focus on producing a research
paper
AIM
The aim of this project is to increase the success rate of the two subjects of research
methodology in achieving its intended target of successful students’ research
publication.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Students who are registered for the program of Magister Manajemen in Blended
Learning.
1
DELIVERY OPTIONS
This project will be delivered in blended learning modes, consist of three sessions of
synchronous video conference, and five sessions of asynchronous online learning
modes.
2
Front-End Analysis: Instructional Need – Module 3
INSTRUCTIONAL NEED
Beginning of the 2017, the Ministry of Higher Education in Indonesia established new
regulations requiring all of the Magister level students to produce a research paper
which is internationally published. As an adaptation to this regulation, the MM Program
developed two additional courses of Research Methodology to help students in
achieving this goal. There was one course of Business Research before the
implementation of the new regulation which designed to help students to do a simple
descriptive business research which would be useful for their decision-making process.
However, as a result of this new regulation, the course of Business Research could no
longer be sufficient in achieving the goal of publishing a research paper. This condition
has forced the MM Program to adjust its curriculum and offer two additional courses of
Research Methodology.
The implementation of these two courses was started in 2017 and since then, it has
been 8 batches that undergone the new curriculum. The results have been somewhat
not encouraging. Only 30% of students who managed to publish the research paper on-
time and most of them are students at the entry level (2 years of experience) at their
organization. Another 30% managed to publish the research at the end of their study
period. While the rest, need an extra one semester after they finished their study period,
and most of them publish the paper in local/ domestic journal. This project is needed to
improve the outcome of the above subjects.

LEARNER ANALYSIS
Primary Audience
Students who are registered at the program of MM Blended Learning
Entry Characteristics
First graduate with GPA no less than 3.00
Executives with at least 2-years of working experience
CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS
Orienting Context
Students should be able to produce a good-quality research paper and publish it
in international journal publication [What goals do the learners have for taking or
attending this course or instruction?]
Students should be able to search for a good-quality literature and review them
to build a research framework
Students should be able to propose a viable research design proposal
Students should be able to conduct data collection and data analysis
Students should be able to write a research paper based on the results of data
analysis
4
Instructional Context
Since both courses will be taught in blended learning mode, the instructional
context will be based on the setting of each individual home. Specifically for the
synchronous class usually held after office hours between 7pm to 9pm once a
week during weekdays.
Technology Inventory
Students will have access to online journals and e-books through our online
library
Students will need to install his/ her own statistical software package for data
analysis
Students will need to have access to online survey application such as survey
monkey
Students will have access to collaborative applications of Microsoft 365 provided
by the university for collaboration
Students have the access to use ‘zoom’ for synchronous discussion
Transfer Context
Each assignment is designed to fulfill specific aspect of journal publication so that
the end product itself will be in the form of research article that is ready to be
published
The department of student publication will fully support the publication of the
research article such as through finding the appropriate publisher, providing a
proofreading service and also evaluation using Turnitin.
The knowledge gained in this course will be useful for executives at managerial
level in order to make an informed decision-making activity based on careful and
rigorous research design

form of competition. Specific types of reward might be prepared to the highest scoring
student groups and this might increase their drive to score high grades for each week.

Goal and Task Analysis – Module 5
GOAL ANALYSIS
1. Identify at least three published peer-reviewed journal articles, and then select,
read, and summarize each work
2. Identify how each selected piece of literature created and defined the problem
statements, then compare and contrast those works and produce a publication
proposal document with an introduction proposing your introduction and problem
statement.
3. Your publication proposal should identify and explain ‘what’ your Dependent
Variables (DV) were in your chosen works, and how those DVs were being
influenced by other variables. Summarize this writing with a proposed theoretical
framework.
4. Identify a good and appropriate research topic that will eventually be treated as
Dependent Variable.
5. Identify the appropriate methodology for the proposed research and include an
explanation of this methodology in your publication proposal.

Two types of task analysis are possible at this stage, which is topic analysis (which is
usually being done in curriculum development in higher education), and procedural
analysis. For the purpose of this exercise, I will use procedural analysis. Based on the
Morrison, et.al (2019), Procedural Analysis consist of asking three main questions,
which is:
1. What does the learner do?
2. What does the learner need to know to do this step?
3. What cues (tactile, smell, visual, etc) inform the learner that there is a problem,
the step is done correctly, or a different step is needed?
