Times Are Getting Tough – Safety Plan

Step ONE: Know what the warning signs are if you are struggling with a problem. These can include
thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and mood.
Warning signs include; feeling alone or depressed. Having unnecessary, harmful thoughts. Your behaviour
would change, and you would more likely to be angry or quiet majority of the time.

Step Two: Coping Strategies: What can you do, by yourself, to help you cope and take your mind off the
problem? What obstacles might be in your way to stop you using these coping skills?
To take your mind of your problems, you could try something new as a hobby and or go somewhere that is
special to you (where you feel content). Meet someone or some people that you love and make you laugh.

Step Three: Support: If you are unable to deal with your problem or distressed situation alone, contact
trusted family members, friends or a teacher. List at least three people who you could go to for support.
