Asunto RE: RE: EFRC Guidelines.
Dear Jaime,
- Sorry that I forgot the attachement about the support. Now I have attached it.
- If you take the cross -over frequencies of 10 Hz and 200 Hz you can count back the displacements and
accelerations. I have summarised in the tables below
- Let me know if you have other measurement data
Hopefully we can further help you in solving the vibration problem with an API 618 analysis or a field
survey.
Kind regards,

Summary of vibration velocity levels for different parts and key zones
Dear Andre :
- Yes, we are going to fix with good supports.
- I did not receive the attach with supports
- I think are an error at the paste of pictures of levels. I am going to talk with the technician to fix the information and
re-send you.
Come back to crossover frecuencies, got you some to read about cross frecuencies betwen velocity, accel,
displacement ( guide limit frecuencies ). You mention :
In your paper and in the paper of de EFRC , I just found the limits for velocities,
Besides, in the ISO 10816 - 6, the Table containes values , but is not clear about the data. E.G: if I have 7,07 mm/s in
vel, the limits are 113 microns millimeter for displacement and 11,1 m/s2 in accel ?
Best, Jaime.

Dear Jaime,
Spanish is difficult to read for me but with the help of one of my colleagues we could understand this. I
came to the following conclusions:
- From the photos I conclude that several supports are dynamically loose which means that they are not
able to restrain the dynamic motions. If you could fix the supports with good rigid clamp supports instead
of only rest supports the vibrations will be reduced.
- If rigid clamp type supports are not possible to install due to thermal reasons, spring hold down type
supports can be applied. I have summarised this in the attached document.
- From the results from the vibration measurements it appeared that the highest vibratiosn occur at 1
times (and also at 3 times) the compressor speed of compressor K-96 or K-60. Is the compressor running
at partial load because in most of the cases if a compressor is running at full load one should also expect
vibrations of 1 times the compressor speed.
- From the measurements it is not clear in which direction the highest vibration levels occur. Normally the
measurements should be carried out in 3 directions. Can you indicate the direction?
- We don't understood the overall vibration levels for all of the locations. E.g. the highest level at location
Linea de vento a flear (second measurement picture of the vibration report) is at one times the
compressor speed and is approximately 7 mm/s. However, the overall level is 44.39 mm/s RMS. can you
explain this.
- If the measured values are correct, they indeed are too high. You can take the guidelines from my paper
We can help you in solving the vibration problem by means of pulsation+vibrations measurements (field
survey) and also by means of a pulsation and mechanical response analysis according API 618.
We have been in this business for 40 years and have a large track record on these type of projects
Kind regards,
Andre, sending you First and Partial vibration test, with spectrum. This is why I request you about crossover
frecuencies. For the Pulsation Test we have a Dynalco. We are dealing to get the isometrics of piping for modeling
piping and mounting re-design.

Guidelines.
Jaime,
It is even possible that higher orders of the compressor (e.g. 2, 3 ....which is than 2*13.5=27 Hz,
3*13.5=40.5 Hz, etc) can excite a mechanical natural frequency of the piping.
Have you made a frequency spectrum and are you sure that only the 1st order is present?
Please send me the results of the pulsation measurements (I assume that you will do this with a piezo
electric device which contacts the gas) so I can have a look at it.
Have you any photos of the problem area?
Kind regards,
Andre, the frecuencie is 13.5 Hz. because the machines are running at 810 rpm. , and the
vibrations adquired with an overall instrument . Next week we are going to re-test con
acelerometer.
And next week going to perform an Pulsation test looking for gas pulse .
In fact we are planning 2 activities, to solve the problem. One to re-design foundations of
piping, second to look for gas pulse.
Best, Jaime
