One Component, Low Modulus, Silyl-Terminated Polyurethane Sealant

DESCRIPTION
PU 400 is a versatile one component, Silyl terminated polyurethane sealant with a low modulus for sealing
building joints. It cures with atmospheric moisture to form a durable rubber seal.

PU 400 special grade is designed for sealing joints in airports runways, terminal ramps, hangers, transportation
storage areas and other areas where the various fuels and liquids may come into contact with sealant after
curing.
It complies with the following standards: ISO 11600 F-25 LM, SNJF C cat 1, UBATC, DIN 18540 & ASTM C920, Type
S, Grade NS, Class 25, T. & SS-S-200E & ISO 10545.

•Expansion and joint sealing to precast concrete, between bricks and steel structure works.

Surface preparation:
•All surfaces must be clean, dry and sound.
Application:
•It is applied direct from cartridge.
•Finish with fresh clean water.
•For back-up use closed cell polyurethane rods.
Limitations:
•It is not recommended for glazing and not for aquaria, PE, PP and Teflon.
•It is not paintable with alkyd resin paints.
•Do not apply the material on moist surfaces or not painted wood.
•Do not tool with detergent or soap solution.
Cleaning
Clean immediately the tools & equipment or spillages with solvent (Toluene or Xylene) before curing.

PU 400 is supplied in 600 ml sausages

Storage & Shelf-life

PU 400 shall be stored in normal conditions in its original packaging.
Shelf life is 12 months if stored properly.

Health and Safety

PU 400 is toxic and danger. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. If ingested, do not induce vomiting. Seek
medical attention immediately.

METHOD OF STATEMENT (PU 400)
Surface Preparation:

Surfaces to be sealed or bonded should be solid, clean and dry. Surfaces should be free from
grease, mold release, oil, water/condensation, frost, and other contaminants that may affect the
adhesion of the sealant.

Primer:

PU 400 adheres perfectly without the use of primer to most Porous and non-porous substrates.

Application:

Backer rod (PE ROD) should be used to control sealant depth. A joint with the correct dimensions is
able to absorb movements between building materials. The joint depth should always be in the
correct relationship of the joint width. A general rule is the ratio of joint depth to the width of the
joint with a joint width up to 10mm is 1:1, with a minimum of 5mm in width and depth. For joints
wider than 10mm, the depth is the width divided by 3 plus 6mm. For more information see the

Cleaning
All equipment & tools shall be cleaned with solvent after work immediately.
