• Ques%on:
• Memory
refers
to
the
processes
that
are
used
to
acquire,
store,
retain,
and
later
retrieve
informa%on.
In
1968,
Atkinson
and
Shiffrin
proposed
3
stages
of
memory:
sensory
memory,
short-‐term
memory,
and
long-‐
term
memory.
The
sensory
memory
is
the
first
stage
where
informa%on
from
the
environment
is
briefly
stored
for
only
a
few
seconds.
Visual
informa%on
is
stored
for
less
then
half
-‐a-‐second
and
auditory
informa%on
is
stored
for
3-‐4
seconds.
If
we
decide
to
pay
aNen%on
to
this
informa%on
coming
in,
we
can
pass
it
along
to
our
short-‐term
memory.
The
short
-‐term
memory
is
also
known
as
the
ac%ve
memory
and
memories
are
stored
here
for
20-‐30
seconds
unless
we
decide
to
send
it
along
to
our
long-‐term
memory.
Our
long-‐term
memory
is
our
memory
storage.
It
is
where
we
can
store
and
retrieve
informa%on
that
we
have
learned.
There
are
many
memoriza%on
techniques
to
help
input
informa%on
into
our
long-‐term
memory
for
later
use
such
as:
associa%on,
visualiza%on,
and
mnemonic
aids
like
acronyms,
acros%cs,
and
word-‐part
clues.
Which
techniques
work
the
best?
• All
of
us
learn
differently.
Some
people
are
visual
learners
that
learn
best
by
seeing
pictures
or
words.
Some
people
are
auditory
learners
and
learn
best
by
sound
and
by
having
informa%on
told
to
them.
And
most
people
are
kine%c
learners
and
learn
best
by
using
touch
and
experiencing
the
informa%on.
Most
people
would
acquire,
store,
retain,
and
retrieve
informa%on
best
by
using
more
then
one
learning
preference
or
style
and
memoriza%on
technique.
What
techniques
will
significantly
increase
memoriza%on
and
recall?
• Can
jumping
rope,
dribbling
a
basketball,
listening
to
classical
or
rock
music,
or
holding
a
paper
up
on
the
leX
or
right
side
