Scholarships for the German-Arab Master’s Course

What are the This master’s course is designed with an interdisciplinary and integrative
goals of the approach that is aimed at conveying general capabilities and knowledge in
education management. The international dimension of the educational sec-

tion is made possible by in-depth offers for single sub-sectors (i.e. school
education, university and research, professional further training). In content
and methodology this programme offers young experts of the education sec-
tor a practice and demand oriented continued training opportunity attaching
special emphasis on the acquisition of inter-cultural communicative capabili-
ties. The participants acquire such capabilities in intercultural communication
and management that enable the graduates to join international develop-
ment or scientific-technological cooperation projects. English is the language
of instruction. Upon successful completion of the course master’s degrees of
both participating universities are awarded.
Because of the special target group and the practice orientation the course is
offered parallel to the job and in blended learning format.

Who can Applications are open to participants from the following countries: Germany,

ia, Tunisia, and Yemen.

Target Group The target group of this master’s course are young professionals active in
education-related fields, with some practical work experience (at least 2
years if possible).

What is German scholarship holders :


funded? The DAAD awards scholarships for the attendance phases abroad (at pre-
sent € 400). During the attendance phases in Germany no scholarship can
be awarded! The scholarship includes health, accident, and personal liability
insurance cover during the attendance phases abroad. Furthermore, the
DAAD pays a subsidy towards the travel expenses.
Arab scholarship holders:
The DAAD awards scholarships for attendance phases in Egypt (at present
€ 300 for Egyptian, € 350 for non-Egyptian participants) and in Germany (at
present € 350). The scholarship includes health, accident, and personal lia-
bility insurance cover during the attendance phases. Furthermore, the DAAD
pays a suitable subsidy towards travel expenses.

• hand-signed letter of motivation (with reference to current occupa-
tion) with precise description of the academic/professional and per-
sonal reasons for wishing to participate in this programme;
• 2 recommendation letters (e.g. academic letter/s of your university or
professional letters of your former or current employer; the letter must
have a signature and office stamp and must be of recent date);
• confirmation of employment of the employer in your home country;
• proof of language abilities in English (e.g. TOEFL or IELTS or compa-
rable) and if applicable in German or Arabic;
• certified copies of awarded academic degrees, of academic tran-
scripts, and of School Leaving Certificate
• explanation of the grading system
• copy of passport
The application has to be in English.
Applications that are not complete will be excluded from the selection
procedure.

Selection A selection committee consisting of professors of the course providers and


representatives of the DAAD will nominate the candidates for a scholarship.
Aside from the study achievements and the academic quality of the appli-
cant, the most important selection criterion will be a convincing presentation
of his/her professional and personal motivation for participating in this pro-
gramme including the expected benefits after returning to the home country
and/or the expected contribution towards German-Arab cooperation.
The bachelor’s degree should not be more than 6 years old. Arab candidates
who are already staying in Germany for more than 15 months at the time of
application cannot be considered for a scholarship.
