Supersedes Bulletin #7528 dated 12/19/11. Revised to add models.

Based upon feedback from the dealer community, firmware has been released that allows suppression of toner
warning messages. The end-of-life function and stop messages for fuser units, imaging and drum units,
developer and developing units, and transfer belt units can be eliminated. Replacement of these units is based
upon usage instead of counter clicks. There are several benefits to turning these settings off:

 Reduced customer downtime  Elimination of emergency shipping charges for spare parts

 Elimination of emergency calls for  PM is scheduled on the next customer-placed call

these units

IMPORTANT: Because the end-of-life message is eliminated, print quality is not guaranteed if the life
counter exceeds the specification value. Consequently, monitoring image quality depends upon both
the customer and the technician. The specified unit should be replaced when the print quality no
longer meets customer expectations.

FINAL REVISION
Because the optimized settings capability has become a standard and is incorporated into the base
level firmware for all Konica Minolta MFPs, this bulletin will not be scheduled for further updates.

Note: Models outlined in blue are updated via USB. All other models listed are updated via Compact Flash (CF) cards.

There are some important updates.

 C652/C652DS Series: Important - select the correct version of firmware when flashing C652 series
(A0P00Y0*) & C652DS series (A1DM0Y0*) machines. The wrong selection can cause the machine’s
scanner and feeder to have a software conflict.

 USB Flash Files: A zip file containing the USB flash files for all of the models listed in blue, above. This
allows all of them to be stored on a single USB thumb drive (2-4 GB). The file is available via the SSD
Download Selector. Do a Quick Search for filename PPLMUSBFlashFilesv1.9.zip.

On the Selector, check the box for “Expand my search to include a specific version identifier, mod notice
number or file name” for best results.

 Compact Flash files will need to be stored on separate Compact Flash cards, or one machine at a time on
a single card.

DIRECTIONS

are grouped together by common settings, but not all models have the same options available.

After updating to the new firmware, carefully select the correct settings for the model being set up. There are
some changes from previous firmware versions Print the Machine List to verify the changes.
