Career Service

The Career Service shall be characterized by (1) entrance based on merit and fitness to be determined as far as
practicable by competitive examination, or based on highly technical qualifications; (2) opportunity for advancement to
higher career positions; and (3) security of tenure.

Training:

 the process of learning the skills you need to do a particular job or activity
 Used to enhance the administrative capability of its personnel, particularly those in managerial level.

Why is training important?

 Induction and orientation


 Improvement of performance
 Broadening of the usefulness of the staff
 Improvement of supervision
 Development for leadership and managerial competence

Who should go training?

Everybody

Who should be responsible for the training program?

Training is the responsibility of the organization. As such, the top administrator must show interest in and
support for training.

Delegation of Duties to Subordinates

Subordinates should have the ability to do the job even in their supervisor’s absence. A supervisor cannot
delegate something to somebody who is not competent to do the job. Delegation can be attained only when the
supervisor has trained people on the job. At the same time, he only delegates things he knows for he is held responsible
as to the result of the job done.

Conclusion

In the uncertain world in which we now work, individuals are looking for a sense of direction in their career and an
understanding of what a successful career is to them. This is an important part of employee engagement.  

Career development programs must help employees build a sustainable, future-proof and adaptable approach to the
management of their careers.  

Career development is the link between an individuals’ drive and motivation and the organization’s talent management
strategy. An engaged workforce with a pipeline of talented leaders requires a career development strategy.
