Question 3: Mission and value statements are indicative of the direction in which a

company is headed. What are typically included in the statements of mission and values of

well-known companies in the United States? Please comment.

Mission and vision both are relate to an organization’s purpose and are communicated in written

form. Mission and vision are the statements from an organization that answer questions about

who we are, what we value, and where we’re going. A mission statement communicate the

organization's reason of being. Mission statements are longer than vision statements. Sometimes

mission statements also include the firm’s values. Values are the beliefs of an individual or

company, in which they are emotionally invested. The mission statement is the organization

purpose for being, and the vision is based on that purpose, this is what we want to become. The

vision statement is also captured in a short line. Mission statements, answers the questions of

Who are we? And what does our company or organization value? Vision statements take the

form of brief future-oriented statements, vision statements answer the question where is this

organization going? Mission and vision statements play some roles: (1) Communicate the

purpose of the organization to stakeholders or employees, (2) Inform strategy development, and

(3) Develop the measurable goals and objectives to evaluate the success of the organization’s

strategy.

Question 4: What are included in the typical operational guidelines some industrial

companies have developed? Please comment

A typical set of operational guidelines may emphasize the following:

• Employees are the important asset to your organization, they need respect and listen to them.

• Quality of our service or product must never be compromised


• The system continuously improve all aspects of its operation

• Each action taken should add value to the final service or product

• Response of the system to change external conditions is a success

• Integrity in each action by the employees is paramount

Examples of Operational Guidelines

1. At the beginning of each daily meeting, the training team supervisor or facilitator and the

team members will:

- Clearly state and agree on the purpose of each meeting.

- Review the progress and the achievements from previous meetings as reflected in the

summary prepared by the training supervisor or facilitator.

2. Agree to focus on the problem-solving dialogue, without damaging debates.

3. Recognize conflicts and diversity that are assets to be maximized and develop a conflict

resolution procedures.

4. Agree on procedures that ensure that each voice is heard and the problem-solving

dialogue can be focused, detailed, and productive.

- Each person can identify and describe briefly one problem, need, or strategy.
- Bring the opportunity to offer perspectives and ask questions about, the problem, need or

strategy.

- Make a model, including the need or problem and the possible solutions.
