Identifying counterfeit VITA classical A1-D4 shade scales

This product which has been subject to counterfeiting since June

18, 2007 is no longer supplied and has undergone several design
modifications. The VITA classical A1-D4 shade guide has been
available in its current form since July 15, 2010.

The VITA classical A1-D4 shade guide has undergone various

design adjustments in the past ten years.

This model has entered the market as a counterfeit.

Model available from 2008 of the VITA classical A1-D4 shade

guide with modified labelling, "The Original A1-D4".

The font is incorrect and the quality and attention to detail of the
counterfeit are of substandard quality.

The quality of the printing is substandard and

the fonts are incorrect.

The workmanship of the back plate is substandard.

The glue has been applied carelessly and
excess glue can be seen.

The font is incorrect and the quality and attention to detail of

The counterfeit uses an incorrect font for the embossing

on the shade sample pin and the embossing is substandard

The embossing of the shade designation and the brandname

"VITA" are substandard. The font of the letters and numbers
is incorrect.

The counterfeit uses acrylic teeth instead of ceramic teeth.

The shade is incorrect and the correct layering
"cervical-dentine-incisal" is not present.
Ceramic is a perfect material for tooth shade determination.

Original Counterfeit

The rear labelling is not pure white on the counterfeit

and the glue has seeped through the substandard paper
(spotting).

Original Counterfeit

The counterfeit contains acrylic teeth that have been

mounted improperly. The original contains ceramic teeth
that have been mounted with high-quality pins.

Original Counterfeit

The package insert / instructions for the counterfeit have been

printed on substandard paper. The shade (gray scale) is incorrect,
has a light brown tinge and the layout and content are incorrect.
