Top 10 New Werewolf Storyteller Mistakes

1. Letting Players start with all the beginning gifts, instead of 1 breed Gift, 1 auspice Gift, and 1 tribe
Gift.

2. Handing out too much renown at the end of the adventure.

3. Forgetting to make players roll frenzy checks at beginning of combat and upon taking the first wound
level.

4. Allowing fetishes and talens to be activated in the same round that Rage is spent or a Rage roll is made.
Remember, no Gnosis spending or Gnosis Roll (activation, sidestep, etc.) can be done in the same round
as spending Rage or Rage Roll (frenzy check, Rage for multiple actions, instant shapeshift, etc.).

5. Forgetting that Silver is UNSOAKABLE except by armor, Gifts, talens or fetishes. Even then, the only
dice that may be rolled to soak are the bonus dice granted by those items. The dots of Stamina are NOT
rolled (unless, of course, the item description states otherwise).

6. Forgetting that a Garou; to step out of the Umbra, must first PEEK, then find a reflective surface in the
real world, and finally may ATTEMPT to step sideways back into the Realm.

7. Forgetting that a Garou; to sidestep INTO the Umbra, must first find a reflective surface (it does not
have to be any bigger than what will allow the character to look into his/her own eyes), then take a TURN
(not an action) to gaze into the reflection and then make the Gnosis Roll.

8. Forgetting that Garou can only drag NON-LIVING (but not Undead) things into the Umbra with them,
and even then only if it is dedicated or is inside a dedicated container.

9. Forgetting that each dedicated item requires the character to have one point of Gnosis (for each). Note,
be merciful, allow the Garou's clothes and shoes to be dedicated for the cost of only one Gnosis. Fetishes
and Talens count as dedicated items and requires the Garou to have the requisite Gnosis. So a starting
character had best have 1 gnosis for clothes, 1 gnosis for each fetish, etc. Remember, these Gnosis are not
spent, simply need to be possessed to be able to drag that much "junk" with them through the "velvet
curtain." NOTE: Dedicated backpacks are a Garou's best friend. Dedicated clothes with POCKETS are
good.

10. Allowing new players to play Metis or Lupus characters when they barely understand the differences
between HUMAN and HOMID. Remember, being Garou is hard enough to portray for a new player.
Unless you want a “HomiLupus” (Lupus who are basically Homid Garou with more starting Gnosis),
then don't allow your inexperienced players to start play with them.
