Project Coordinator, We Are One Center (Women Only)

Samos, Greece
Glocal Roots is a small, non-profit-organisation with projects in Switzerland and Greece.
Glocal Roots develops projects with the aim of increasing and strengthening the resilience
and independence of displaced people. We are looking for a new project coordinator for
the We Are One Center on Samos.

Project Overview:

The We Are One Center is a safe space and community center for refugee women and their
infants on the island of Samos, Greece. The We Are One Center offers various activities,
workshops and distributions to women aged 15+ years, and their infants aged 3 years old and
under. Through the use of educational and Psycho Social Support (PSS) activities we aim to
rebuild female refugees’ confidence, and establish community networks and support
systems. Ultimately, we aim to support women in living a self-determined and empowered
life. The center is visited by approximately 300 women and 150 infants everyday.

Responsibilities:

• Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of all activities in accordance with


budgets and work plans
• Responsible for the smooth running of daily operations
• Manage a team of approximately 15-20 volunteers (both volunteers from the refugee
community and external volunteers)
• Recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers
• Facilitate weekly team meetings
• Monthly reporting & monitoring reports
• Coordination with project partners for activities and referrals to medical,
psychological and legal aid actors
• Represent Glocal Roots in relevant coordination meetings
• General administrative support

Person Specification:

• Female, at least 25 years old


• Language: fluent in verbal and written English. Other languages such as German,
Greek, French, Arabic, Farsi or Kurdish are desired, but not necessary

Knowledge & Experience

• Passionate about grassroots solidarity with people in vulnerable contexts


• Able to work in a challenging and dynamic work environment
• Project coordination/management experience
• Work experience in a refugee context

Skills & Abilities

• Flexible, intuitive, and proactive approach to work


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to compile and
present reports for a variety of target groups
• Team player
• Strong problem-solving and planning skills
• Resourceful and strategic thinking
• Multi-tasker who performs well under pressure
• Driving license (manual)
