1a. What were the two regions that made up ancient Egypt?
- Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt

1b. Why was the Nile Delta well suited for settlements?
- The Nile Delta was suited for settlements because it had land in
the middle of the sea which separated the river

1c. How might the Nile’s cataracts have both helped and hurt Egypt?
- It helps the Egypt because it protects them from invaders but it
had its pros and cons. The water was rapidly and it was hard for
them to cross the river.

2a. What foods did the Egyptian’s eat?


- They ate vegetables, fish, eggs and dates.

2b. What role did the Nile play in supplying Egyptians with these
foods?
- The Nile provided water for animals and the crops they grew.

2c. How did the desert on both sides of the Nile help ancient Egypt?
- It provided very strong protection against invaders on both
sides, Lower and Upper.

3a. Who was the first Pharaoh of Egypt?


- Historians considered the Menes to be the first Pharaoh of
Egypt.

3b. Why did the Pharaohs of the First Dynasty wear a double crown?
- They decided to wear two crowns so that the lower and upper
Egypt will know that Pe has control over Nekhen. It also
symbolizes them.
