 -ackground:

3ast year in the month of 4ovem#er , there was situation that volume of noodle speci%cally
for single serve pack went down and as per the monthly volume plan from S5( , factory has
to immediately stop one noodle line 6$lant7 which was producing ma)ority of single serve
pack. "his line was the line which was started %rst after noodle crisis.

+n factory 89Ds meeting a#ove proposal was shared from S5( manager. actory 82
manager has expressed his disagreement saying that the requirement of contact manpower
6;3A7 of that particular line is '<< per day which is #ig num#er ,and looking at scenario
which is outside #ecause of demonetiation this can impact company image. With factory
82 manager suggested to management team that we give lay o1 charges to these contract
work manpower then in that case situation can #e manage. "his decision was increasing
%xed cost and having #ig impact on cost num#ers. "ime was limited to take the decision.

Decision making:

With the a#ove situation, + have put across my decision that looking at #igger pack volume
we can start one noodle line in $lant ', and we don*t have to hire manpower for that line we
can shift trained manpower from manual packing operation 6;=57 to restart the line. And
shift manpower from plant  to manual packing operation in plant '.

With this decision we were a#le to #alance manpower #etween #oth the contractors. With
this there was #ig risk involve. + have taken calculative risk #ecause the manpower which
was deputed on noodle line in $lant  had never done manual packing operation in last >
years. 2isk of low productivity and high quality defect was #ack in mind. + had a full
con%dence that low productivity and high quality defect can #e in control with online training
and close supervision. + took this decision looking at #igger picture and supporting #usiness
and creating ?exi#ility in operation.
