I PREFACE I

Before taking this machine into operation, please carefully read this service manual.

This service manual represents an integral part of the machine described therein. When the
machine is removed (transferred to other plants, sold to other firms, etc.), this service manual
must accompany the machine.
To avoid operating faults, these service manual must always be accessible for the service
staff.

During construction, selection of materials and manufacture of this machine, all safety regula-
tions were taken into consideration.
A perfect running during a long time can only be assured by a certain expenditure of mainte-
nance. This expenditure, which has been limited to the absolutely necessary minimum, is a
basic requirement for the long working life of the machine.
To preserve the operational safety, repair works should only be effected by a well trained and
technically qualified personnel and by using the original Trützschler spare parts. For ordering
the original Trützschler spare parts please use the spare parts catalogue belonging to the ma-
chine.
Maintenance and repair works may only be carried out with the machine being stopped and
secured. Never try to eliminate a malfunction or to do a repair work without having the re-
quired experience.

After having carried out maintenance or repair works, take care that all protection and safety
devices are correctly mounted again.
Also make sure that waste oil is collected in an environmentally acceptable manner. Exces-
sive oil or grease on lubricating points or on machine parts must be removed after the com-
pletion of the lubrication work. Oil or grease dropped on the floor must be removed immedi-
ately.
The general statutory safety and accident prevention regulations, which might be different for
each country, must be strictly followed during the operation of the machine. Please also ob-
serve the further safety instructions included in this service manual. You are also requested
to hand over to your operating and service staff the general safety and accident prevention
instructions included in this service manual.

All technical details, dimensions and illustrations of this service manual are non-obligatory.
It is not possible to derive any claims or rights therefrom. We reserve the right to make techni-
cal changes within the course of development of the machine covered by these service
manual, without changing this service manual.
The German version is the authoritative version of the service manual.

We also reserve the copyright of these service manual.

II SAFETY MEASURES II−1
Accident prevention instructions

II.1 Training

Persons employed on textile machinery, especially on tearing and willowing machines and
cards, must be instructed for safe working on these machines. Refer also to Accident Preven-
tion Regulation for Machines, Plants ...," VBG 7v, w 33.
Training of the staff concerned must be repeated at regular intervals (every 6 months). A
corresponding training certificate must be issued.

Set-up and maintenance of textile machines as well as the correction of faults on textile ma-
chines may be entrusted to a technically qualified personnel only. Refer also to Accident Pre-
vention Regulation for Machines, Plants ..." VBG 7v, w 34.

II.2 Start-up of the machine

Prior to the first start-up of the machine and also after maintenance and modification work,
the machine must be carefully checked by technically qualified personnel for its proper opera-
tional safety and eventual accident risks.
Before starting the machine, persons in the danger zone of the machine must be warned and
requested to leave this area.

Modifications on the machine may only be undertaken in co-ordination with M/s.

TRÜTZSCHLER and under the supervision of a technically qualified staff.

II.3 Safeguarding the machine stoppage

Set-up and maintenance work on the machine as well as the correction of malfunctions may
only be performed when the machine is isolated from the power supply and has come to a
standstill.
Any unauthorized, inadvertant or negligent re-connection of the power supply and starting-up
of the machine during this work, especially in the case of machine groups on which visual
control and communication are impeded, must be prevented by precautionary measures ap-
propriate to local circumstances.
Even the loosening of one screw is regarded as maintenance work. In accordance with valid
accident prevention regulations, the machine must be isolated from the power supply during
maintenance work so that a starting-up is impossible.

The master switches of the switch and control cabinets must be set to 0" and must be locked.

B-000-en-03/93
II SAFETY MEASURES II−2
Accident prevention instructions

II.4 Safety switches

Doors and opening covers giving access to drives and potentially dangerous opening and
cleaning rolls are provided with safety switches. When these doors or covers are opened,
these safety switches de-energize the machine drives.
These safety switches must always be operational. Starting-up the machines with a defective
safety mechanism is not permitted.

II.5 Walking on the machine and working above, below and on the machine or
parts of the machine

Walking on the machine or on parts of the machine and working above below and on the ma-
chine or parts of the machine (e.g. ceiling or lighting work or servicing, adjustment or mainte-
nance) are forbidden during operation.
If it is necessary to walk on the machine or to carry out work above, below or on the machine
or parts of the machine when the machine is stopped, it must be protected for this purpose,
prior to starting the work, with solid slip-resistant footboards (supporting trestles, wooden
boards, plastic plates or similar) and appropriate safety railings must be established.
For safeguarding the stationary machines refer to Section 3. Safeguarding the machine stop-
page".

II.6 Auxiliary equipment for the operation, adjustment and maintenance of the
machine

If auxiliary equipment is needed for the servicing, adjustment or maintenance of the machines
(ladders, poles, supporting trestles, hooks or similar), these must be in an accident-proof
condition and must be used in a safe manner.
The inappropriate and potentially dangerous use of auxiliary equipment of any kind on the
machines is inadmissible.

II.7 Control cabinets and electrical equipment on the machines

All control cabinets are fitted with lockable doors. The doors must always be securely locked,
and the double-bit key must be kept by a responsible person (chief electrician).

Only trained staff may have access to the control cabinets, who are familiar with the electrical
equipment and its dangers.

Work on control cabinets and electrical equipment may only be entrusted to technically quali-
fied personnel.
ATTENTION
For the safe operation of electrical equipment, please also refer to VDE 0.100 w 3,
Chapter F, Sec. 2 and/or the relevant local regulations in force.

3.1 Function

In the EXACTACARD R DK 903, the carded fibre

6 4
5 web is formed into a sliver.
The orderly deposition of the card sliver into the can
(1) takes place by means of the coiler (2). Sliver gui-
dance is performed by sliver guide arm (3), sliver
guide rollers (4), sliver trumpet (5) and by the press
3 rolls.
A light sensor (6) monitors the card sliver.
2
The circuit is so arranged that sufficient time is provi-
ded for threading the card sliver into the sliver trum-
1 pet. If piecing-up is not performed within the time
allowed, the drive of the feeding mechanism, doffer,
30080020
web doffing and of the coiler will be de-energized
automatically.

4 Operation 4.1-1
4.1 Piecing-up of web

Control and operation of the Coiler KH takes

place in conjunction with the EXACTACARD R
DK 903 1.

ATTENTION
Never piece-up the web at high speed.
For piecing-up, gather up the web by hand and
thread it through the web trumpet into the nip of the
calender rolls. If necessary, threading-in may be
facilitated by operating the measuring tongue (refer
to operating manual DK 903).
The card sliver emerging from the calender rolls is
to be fed via the guide rollers (arrows) to the coiler.

30080120

Introduce the card sliver into the opening of the

coiler cover.
The machine now automatically switches to high
speed.
The indicator lamp for starting speed goes out, the
WEBSPEEDR BF swings to closed position, and the
indicator lamp for high speed lights up.

4.2 Can change

4.2.1 Can change on reaching the

pre-signal
When reaching the pre-signal, the red indicator
lamp of the EXACTACARD R DK 903 flashes. On the
operator’s console (1), the indicator lamps for can
change and high speed are blinking. This
means: the card will run at slow speed until the can
is completely filled.

Move can forwards, break card sliver and change

the can.

Press key to confirm that can change was per-

formed.

The indicator lamp on the card and the green indica-

tor lamp for can change go out. The machine
switches to high speed and the can contents indica-
tor moves to the can filling quantity that has been
set.

4.2.2 Can change on reaching the

max. can filling
On reaching the pre-signal, the can must be
changed.

If, after reaching the pre-signal or the maximum

can filling quantity, the can has not been changed,
the material transport will be switched off. On
completion of the can change, the piecing-up pro-
cedure must be carried out again.
The signal lamp on the EXACTACARD R DK 903
lights up and the green indicator lamp for can
change flashes, whilst the indicator lamp for high
speed is out. Pull can forwards, break the card sliver
and change the can.

Press key to confirm that can change was per-

formed.

The green indicator lamp for can change com-

pleted goes out. The can contents indicator returns
to the can filling quantity that has been set.

Piece-up the web again.

After switching on the material transport, the signal

lamp on the machine goes out.
